Can anyone help? Las Vegas, NM

We are back to being far over capacity.
Last week, animal control brought in an abundance of dogs and we are unable to keep up between the 3 people working at the shelter.

Los Alamos County Animal Shelter ❤️ took a group of dogs from us on Wednesday and we were sure this would get us a little breathing room. We were full again the next day. Within two days after that, we were over capacity by about 8 dogs again.

This week we need to find placement for a minimum of 8 dogs or we will have to euthanize for space. We will post a list of at risk, fully adoptable dogs in the coming days.

If you can foster, adopt, or help find rescue placement, please reach out.

On top of this, we will be closed this week and will only be accepting appointments, rather than walk in services due to the overcrowding & the need to catch up on many things. We have over 60 calls to return from the last 2 weeks so please be patient with us.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

The photo below is of Gregory, one of the dogs at risk of being euthanized. 💔

The animal crisis we are facing is breaking our hearts and we are so busy trying to keep up with it all. We are exhausted - mentally, physically, and emotionally.

when it comes to cancer. In the case of Melanoma in dogs, the lesions on the skin are generally benign. It is the Oral and toenail Melanoma that are malignant and sometimes aggressive. Once this type of cancer is found a fine needle aspirate or biopsy is done to assess the cancer.

Radiation is the therapy that seems to be most effective. There is a vaccine for Melanoma that stimulates the immune system to target the melanoma cells. The Oncept vaccine has little to no side effects.

*Simon*
Simon is an adorable 2-year-old rat terrier/chihuahua mix weighing 10 lbs. He is pretty shy at first, but he warms up once he trusts his person so he will need a patient adopter to help him feel comfortable. He likes to be carried around like a baby and falls asleep in his foster's arms. He is not a barker and does well with his doggy friends at his foster home. He is doing well with his potty training and asking to go outside but he will need continued guidance with that.
Adoption fee $195.00.
