Today we took all of our ferrets to the vet to get their adrenal implants (suprelorin) they all did very well and I’m very happy that now my ferrets have a preventative medicine for this deadly disease.
Adrenal disease is a tumor that grows inside the ferrets body causing over production of s*x hormones and is quite common in the USA Marshall ferrets due to the fact they are spayed and neutered around 6 weeks old before being shipped out to stores which is one the common reason for this disease.
While the suprelorin implant can help prevent this disease over 70% of ferrets will get this disease and it is fatal if left untreated, in several cases there is a surgical option to remove the infected gland but taking a preventative approach is a lot safer and easier in the long run, as the implant can be quite expensive lets face it ferrets are expensive and we love them so why not make their life easier and better with a simple injection that takes 5 seconds and wipe our hands, you will need to replace the implant every year so once your ferret receives said implant it must be replaced every year.
