Did you know that puppies need 18-20 hours of a sleep a day?!
Oftentimes puppies don't want to sleep so much, because they are curious and excited about everything. That's why we have to help them get some rest by putting them in a cozy room, in their crates, for a nap after playing.
Puppies get tired easily, and they need good sleep to help their brains and bodies develop. They should nap after being awake for about an hour. And no, sleeping on the floor or on the sofa is not good enough. They might get disturbed by any noise or movement in the house.
If your puppy is not getting enough sleep, they might act out in different ways
โ๏ธ your puppy might not want to play nicely and instead just want to bite your hands, feet and clothes
โ๏ธ your puppy's bites might hurt more than usual
โ๏ธ your puppy might get annoyed when you try to stop them from biting you

What is enrichment? Enrichment is a way of providing your dog with mental stimulation and fun activities that suit their natural instincts and preferences.
Many dogs like to dig, chew, chase, lick and shred things, but they may not have appropriate outlets for these behaviors in their home environment. If you want to prevent your dog from digging up your garden or tearing apart your furniture, you can offer them alternative ways to express these behaviors in a positive and acceptable way.
Enrichment can benefit dogs of all ages and breeds by keeping them happy and challenged. You can experiment with different types of games and puzzles to find what your dog enjoys the most.
Here are some easy and inexpensive enrichment ideas you can try at home:
Kibble Knots: wrap some kibble in a towel, twist the towel, and tie in several loose knots. This is a quiet toy that is sure to keep them busy for 10-15 minutes. You can make it harder for your dog by tying the knots tighter.
Paper Tube Toys: reuse your paper towel and toilet paper tubes! Fold one end of the tube, put some kibble inside, and fold the other end shut. Your dog will have to shred the tube to get to the kibble. For more difficulty, stuff the bigger tube with smaller tubes that have kibble inside. This may look messy, but itโs easy to clean up if done on a hard floor.
Foraging: scatter kibble in different places around the house or outside for your dog to find. Start with easy spots, like in the middle of the room, and move on to harder ones, like in their toy box or under their bed.
Enrichment should be fun and rewarding for your dog. If your dog doesnโt seem interested in the game or itโs too hard for them to solve, make it easier or show them how to do it.

What is when it comes to dogs?
I get this question a lot, and I find that most people often only know half of what it means to socialize a dog properly. Yes, socializing means allowing your dog to play and interact with other dogs and people, but it's also about teaching your dog how to be in new places, around people and dogs, and not have to interact with them. The skills necessary to stay composed when they are not allowed to play with others or investigate what is around them.
So, sign your pups up for daycare, schedule playdates, and allow them to play with new people and dogs, but also take them to public places and encourage them to ignore other animals and people. A well socialized pup can play nicely with others AND be around others without being the life of the party.

Griz is his familyโs very first pup, so they needed help with the things that most first-time puppy families struggle with. He was mouthy with their young boys, didnโt always come when called, jumped, chewed, and didnโt have the best listening skills.
He and his family have worked really hard these last couple of months and he has really turned into a great first-time pup.

Ya'll, this is Melvin. He stole my heart from the moment I met his smooshy face. He also sings, at the top of his lungs, when his little humans run ahead during walks. Many others can relate to this embarrassing behavior.
Melvin and his mom have been working insanely hard to teach him how to let his littles run and scooter ahead while still being a well-behaved pup. Melvin still has a lot of work to do, but I couldn't be more proud of his progress.
How do you know you had a good training session? When a normally wild pup sploots down and doesnโt move ๐
