You may have noticed it's been a bit quiet over here...

The truth is I have experienced some burnout while running a business and caring for two young ones full time. I found I could no longer show up authentically so I took pause.

Following this, I had hoped I'd bounce back and maybe even pivot once more but unfortunately I have not been able to find the spark to pick up where I left off with Pawdoption Guide.

I've been doing a lot of soul searching and have decided it's time for me to set aside Pawdoption Guide including my membership, courses and podcast. Instead I will be refuelling and blazing a new path.

Feel free to follow my creative venture Kind Finds Thrift on Instagram, officially launching October 4th.

I am so grateful for the opportunity to connect with you and many others over these past 3 years and have learned so much in the process. Thank you for your support and please continue to do the great work of educating others about dog rescue!

Rescue will be a passion of mine for life so please don't hesitate to DM me or reach out via email [email protected] if you have pet adoption/dog rescue questions.

Thanks again for your support, it has meant the world to me!

Introducing Asha! This beautiful girl is a Lab/Poodle mix who came to us from a puppymill right here in Ontario. Asha was used for breeding and, when breeding dogs in mills are no longer profitable, they are culled. Thankfully Asha was spared along with several others who went to other amazing rescues.

When that adorable puppy is purchased off Kijiji, in a pet store or on Facebook, you can be sure there’s a mama like Asha left behind living a life of misery. These breeding operations will only stop when the demand stops.

Asha is not available for adoption and won’t be for several weeks. We’ll post updates as we get to know her better, so far she’s settling in and learning what living in a house is like! ❤️

My dalmatian has always been a barker.
It's one of the things we've had to manage most since adopting her and truth be told we haven't stopped managing it.

In this video I you can hear how Rory reacts without any management to two of her triggers; door/gate opening and "hello" to the assumed stranger behind the door.

She is capable of this reaction but she's also capable of silence when we prepare appropriately and understanding WHY she barks has been the key to responding to it.

So, I'm breaking down how to curb your rescue dog's excessive barking in episode 30 of the available now via the link or wherever you listen to podcasts. 🎧

Leave a comment with the reason for most of your dog's barking below! 👇

Is camping really camping if your dog doesn't come along...asking for a friend?😉

All the summer feels over here as we prepare for our first camping trip of the year!🏕️⛱️☀️

So here's a little for yah with these pictures of our first camping trip with Geller. He was such a great camper - even scared of some rowdy raccoons but we learned he had thunderstorm anxiety following it so we never took him again. ☹️

Rory's not a good camping candidate because of her reactivity so they'll be living it up at the grandparents this weekend with our kitty too.😸

By the way, if you're looking for a summer travel companion it might just be the perfect time to rescue one! 👇

This is one of those things I just would not want to live without!

To a dog owner, Kongs and food puzzles are a blessing but for a reactive dog owner they may be an absolutely essential tool in their tool kit.

Learn the top 4 ways I work to improve and reduce Rory's reactivity in episode #28 of the available wherever you listen to podcasts, YouTube and via the link below 👇

I'm 💯 GUILTY of paying way too much attention to my neighbours and their dogs!

My head is always turning but my husband knows not to worry, there's obviously a dog in sight.🤣

But in all seriousness, this pandemic brought quite a few new small pups to our neighbourhood and some extra sass to go with it!

This had me thinking about the biggest mistakes that small dog owners make and #1 on that list was babying or humanizing their dog.

Wanna know why?

Timing is a funny thing! The past three weeks have been overwhelming. My toddler's tantruming on the regular, I feel like I have 1001 priorities and my fuse is short. Amidst this I decided to take on my biggest podcast challenge yet. I bet some of you can relate!😵

Yet, because this episode meant so much to me I was able to gather every last bit of energy I had to compile and edit it. Apparently nothing lights a fire under me quite like dog rescue scams - that's right, this week's episode uncovers abnormal dog adoption, foster and volunteer experiences with a popular Toronto-based dog rescue. Grab your headphones 🎧, you're in for a wild ride!

How special is it that this just happened to be my 25th episode? Trust me, that was not planned🤯, but I'm choosing to celebrate the little things today! 🎉🥂
