Agape Fosters Our mission is to financially assist getting as many pets and street cats fixed. Message for help. In 2023 We are taking few animals in at this time.

If it’s a small, friendly canine we will highly consider those. We are maintaining the care of the ones here that have never been adopted and doing community outreach, helping with the costs to spay and neuter Pitties and Street Kitties and those who are struggling with the costs to fix their pets. You can message us to see if we can help in Iowa or outside if we can help with legitimate costs, we

will. Not all orgs are reputable, be careful who you contact or take animals to of any specie. We are licensed in good standing in the State. Have a very up front and honest approach of how we deal with our animals and the public be it with those who hurt animals those who are irresponsible, those who care for their beloved pets and those who love animals. We are transparent about what we use our donations for. We have been a part of education and speaking out on behalf of animals for 3 decades. We believe every Org should have oversight and have run on the promise of quality care over quantity of animals because the amount of animals versus the amount of manpower to care for them does matter or we are not helping any specie of animal in the big picture when we have way to many. Enrichment is what we strive for while they wait. We have huge fenced in areas, roomy kennels, dogs get sleepovers in the camper, we do training, cats have loose access throughout the day in their own room. Our animals here do not lay and wait for Vet care, they are immediately transported to Vets if needed. Donations go to the animals as donors intended. If you are interested in donating in kind or financially, 100% goes back to the animals, and if we have any in kind items left over we share those with other responsible, reputable Rescues. You may message us with how to help. We have been changing lives here at this spot for over 25 years and the Director has been doing this work for over 30 years. We take some of the worst cases and turn their lives around one pet at a time. Please continue to help us help them. Thank you for the decades of support. We used this for one of our senior kids, her coat, eyes, coat, bowels all improved. Nice company to work with. We even shared it with foster cats and dogs for a treat. You get what you pay for.

GET THEM FIXED!!!! Ridiculous all the kittens born and all the cats being killed or out there suffering as there’s not enough homes or people to care for them. That’s being a good steward of the Earth. Do your part please!

A kitten can reach sexual maturity as early as 4.5 months of age! Our local shelters and rescues are almost always at capacity. PLEASE don't let pets or community cats breed. Make spay and neuter a high priority. Together we can stop pet overpopulation.

The Pacific Palisades wildfire has torn apart so much of the affluent West L.A. neighborhood forever ... but, it couldn't tear apart this owner and his dog -- 'cause the two found their way back to each other Sunday.

Update on what’s happening here. We don’t take in animals anymore but still have the about a dozen that still live here.
Max who’s been with us over 8 years due to his distrust of most humans ran into problems again with the same issues that sent him to the ER last Aug. after a 3 day stay at ISU, lots of tests and finding out he’d been getting a dog aspirin for his sore joints here that worked for his joints, but wasn’t working for his tummy and that and other possible causes was creating GI issues. He was not in good shape.
He got on pain and anti anxiety drugs and Prilosec type tummy pills. He came back earlier than maybe another dog would because he was hard for them to handle not drugged up. He came back to AF and finished his medical regimen here where the Director could give him easily his oral med that had to be put into a slurpy form and given straight orally.

When issues kicked in again possibly from something to rich in a treat etc he’d been getting as he was supposed to stay off aspirin and certain meds but could eat reg food. He wasn’t gorged with treats but obviously his tummy has become selective after 8 years. Age does crazy things to human and animals GI etc.

We recognized quickly he had a set back and started over with his meds etc, it took 3 weeks to get him back to pretty good shape. A lot of p*e pads. He will stay on trazadone now possibly for life and scale back on pretty much all treats and get kibble so he doesn’t feel left out while others get afternoon treats.

He had some cancerous cell lumps removed earlier last year and had another growth that had recently showed up after the other lumps.
This big guy had a lot going on and needed professional care, had he not gotten to the emergency/vet hospital he would’ve died. It was over $6000.00 with local and emergency Vet care, a big chunk out of a small Rescues account that brings little in anymore as we don’t take in animals anymore but still have about a dozen dogs/cats and lovestock all seniors that were never adopted or are sanctuary here.
There’s still daily and medical costs to care for them. We’ve been using our funding to help get personal and street cats fixed and will continue until funding runs out.

If you’d like to donate here’s a link or you can message to donate another way.
We stand by our animals and don’t deny them professional care. Our mission statement has never changed when it comes to enrichment and care. The Director and spouse have covered daily expenses for over 30 years, never asking of others what they don’t do themselves from care to funding.

The animals are safe and loved here, we do have some cats that still would love a home but never chosen for a variety of reasons. If you can offer a loving lifetime indoor home for one of them message the page. They range from 6-10 years old.
We are thankful Max starts off the New Year doing pretty well.
Thank you for your financial support and volunteering for over 30 years. We are one of the first and longest running Pet Rescues.

Praying for all including the animals running for their lives as 20,000 acres have burned or are still burning. Human and animal’s homes are gone.

From Beth Pratt:

As many of you know, I divide my time between the Yosemite area and the Santa Monica Mountains in the Los Angeles area for my work with the Wallis Annenberg Wildlife Crossing. And neither place is a stranger to fire.

The last decade especially I have watched fire devastate my community in Mariposa County and threaten my own home at times (I have had to evacuate three times). The past two summers fires almost took out Midpines and Mariposa and many people lost homes.

Yet what my second home of Southern California is facing now is on a catastrophic scale beyond belief. Some have said this will fundamentally change the coastal landscape in the Santa Monica Mountains. This is terrible for both people and wildlife.

My thoughts go out to everyone impacted. Many friends, colleagues and partners have had to evacuate. I have watched videos of landscapes and places I visited often ablaze. It’s heartbreaking and terrifying. This is a wonderful community I have come to love.

And the wild creatures of the area are also in my thoughts. These fires are going to be devastating for wildlife. This is a photo of the burnt paws of mountain lion P-64, found dead in the 2018 Woolsey Fire burn zone.

Please stay safe. Sending all the care I can to you.

Beth
