Nancy Chesney DeVaney started Twisted Trail Ranch back in late 2012 after taking over an abandoned equestrian facility in Castle Rock, Colorado. With over 40 years experience in riding for top international trainers in Europe and the United States, training in the Academy up to Grand Prix level, Nancy sought to teach again after taking off several years post Parkinson's Disease diagnosis. With a n
ational following in english dressage, Nancy feels strongly that those in western disciplines would benefit greatly from the centered riding foundation she practices. While in the process of rehabilitating the ranch, the catastrophic Black Forest fire occurred. Despite the lack of resources or help, Nancy and her husband Randy were one of the first to bail out hundreds of animals that first night. Their efforts received local and national attention with the community coming to their aid in donating feed and care, all of which saved many lives. Nancy and Randy have committed to continuing their support by serving as a sanctuary to animals needing shelter during future fires. Twisted Trail Ranch is now offering a number of opportunities for the community to benefit from horsemanship and animal education. Classes are being established for all riding levels, in addition to private sessions and horse evaluation/training. Volunteer and volunteer certification opportunities exist in assisting with horse and other ranch animal needs. Certified volunteers may continue apprenticeship in helping Nancy during her classes, trainings, or private lessons. Riding disciplines from classical dressage to western are offered, at all levels. For those with DBS, Parkinsons, or other physical challenges are invited to attend a bionic class which will demonstrate muscle memory and other therapeutic benefits.
