Always a joy when one of my favorite people stops by! Bonus points for when we work on some cool stuff together. Recently we put together some information on our top ten groundwork exercises. We both work with lots of different horses and these out our favorite ones to start with and get to know the horse we are working with. If you’re interested in signing up to watch the videos and join the virtual clinic we are hosting this Friday, please email [email protected] to sign up!

A bittersweet post. Eowyn, now affectionately known as Winnie, has returned to me for a tune up and consignment. She was my 2023 Mustang Magic mare. We had a lot of good times together and she did pretty well in the show, coming just shy of the top ten. She sold in the auction and went to exactly the home I wanted for her. They have loved her so much these past years but unfortunately she’s not quite fitting the role they had in mind for her. Her owner is heartbroken over this decision but knows it’s what’s best for Winnie and is hopeful that her perfect home is out there. She’s an exceptionally quiet horse. More whoa than go. She’s been to a lot of places and done a lot of things. She’s also a strong willed lady who would thrive under a strong leader and a consistent program. I’ll be getting more photos and videos soon but please feel free to reach out if you are interested in Winnie.

Can we talk about Nemo and Jules for a sec? My bestie Jules bought this diamond in the rough late last year fresh off the race track. She was bringing him along steadily until she hit a roadblock: kissing spine in several places. Ugh. After many tears from Nemo’s whole support group over this frustrating discovery, she decided to go ahead with the surgery. There have been many other small bumps along the road but today was a big win. First time jumping Nemo post surgery went fantastic! Jules was worried about even coming today in case he wasn’t ready. She always has the best interests of her horse at heart. But Nemo was perfect. I’m glad they came this morning and I cannot wait to cheer them on later in October at the RRP Thoroughbred Makeover. Go Fishy!

Woohoo! First cross country schooling for Eva! AND also my first time schooling cross country 🤣 Eva was rock star. She was a little nervous to the first jump but once she got over that she jumped everything without refusal. I’m so proud of her! I definitely was hooked on cross country and didn’t want to stop. Good thing the Wyoming Mustang only has so much gas in the tank or we would have been there all morning. Really looking forward to the Classic next month!

Had a little English show day today with friends! This was my first show with Evangeline and her first time showing English. It was just a couple flat classes at a “beach party” themed show. She was excellently behaved and I was really happy with her performance. Looking to get out and do some more jumping and dressage this month to get ready for the Mustang classic! We were joined today by my friend Jules and her OTTB Nemo who are preparing for the Retired Racehorse Project Thoroughbred Makeover this year. And also my student Maddie and her filly Cleopatra who will be competing in the Fort Worth Mustang Show in the youth division. It was such a great outing for the green beans!

Evangeline! We’re all home and settled from Vegas. I will be sharing more pictures from Vegas soon but for now enjoy Eva turning into a dressage horse! I had originally planned to do the classic with lanai but I really put her on the back burner while getting ready for Vegas. So I’m taking my husband’s horse instead! We definitely have our work cut out for us 🤣 but I am excited to do some more English riding for a while!

I blew it. Chex has a wonderful ranch riding class and he’s been so tuned in and willing here in Vegas. We placed 12th out of about sixty top class riders in the ranch riding, with extremely close placings. Unfortunately he remembered the reining pattern better than I did. I was stressing out too much about something else and missed doing an entire circle in the pattern. A run that should have been competitive wound up near the bottom due to off pattern penalties. I’m absolutely distraught that I made such a simple mistake that has cost us so much. But I guess that’s just life and horses. We will show up tomorrow and do our very best in trail but I don’t think there’s a chance to recover from this. I’m very disappointed but still happy to be here in Vegas with the incredible and inspiring Mustang family.

We are all settled in Las Vegas for the Mustang Challenge with Mustang Champions! The horses did a great job hauling all the way from Texas and settled into the show environment really well. I am showing Cashin Hot Vegas Chex owned by Jerrad Dittmer and Connor is showing his own mare Evangeline. We are excited to show Vegas what mustangs are capable of! We have two classes tomorrow: ranch riding and reining. The show starts at 9 AM (Vegas time) and will be streamed by the Equine Network if you want to tune in! With over 60 elite competitors it is sure to be an exciting competition. We are so thrilled to be a part of the fun!

I recently took Chex to our first show together and he rocked it! Came first in the advanced trail division. I’ve got two obstacle mini-clinics coming up this month: June 8 and June 15. Obstacles have been highly requested for learning so I’ve opened two days at the ranch here in North Zulch TX! This will be a small, focused clinic with a limited number of participants so the learning can be more tailored to YOU! In-hand and ridden horses welcome. Learn how to cross over bridges and tarps, pick up objects from the saddle, drag objects, and handle your horse with confidence.

• 8 AM - 11 AM: three hours of focused learning
• $125 cost: full payment required to hold your spot (non refundable)
• Can’t bring your horse just yet? No worries, it’s only $20 to come audit!
• Text me to sign up (361-944-3236): let me know your name, which date you’d like to attend, your horse’s name, and what you would be most interested to learn

I look forward to seeing you!!

I swear one day I’ll be better about posting! Life has just been moving so fast lately (and by lately I mean the past couple of years) it’s hard to make time for engaging with other equestrians through this platform, which used to be one of my favorite things to do. Engagement is down and I have no one to blame but myself. I know it’s hard to keep engaged with the horses and content I post when posts come about once a month. I won’t even begin to touch on my absence from YouTube 🥲 Anyways if you’re still reading maybe tell me a little bit about something happy you did with your horse this week! It sure would make my day ❤️ Pic is of Chex, who I will be showing in Vegas in July! I took him to a schooling show this past weekend and he placed first in the advanced obstacle class. He’s quickly become one of my favorite horses to ride and I really look forward to all we can accomplish together.

Please welcome “Cashin Hot Vegas Chex”!! The horse I picked up for Vegas is coming along a little slower than I had hoped. So when Jerrad Dittmer offered me the chance to borrow Chex to go show in Vegas you bet I jumped on the opportunity! He will spend the next few months with me getting fancy and then we will be taking on the Mustang Challenge in Vegas in July! Thank you so much to Jerrad for this opportunity! I’m excited to see where this journey goes. I’ll keep working with Rohan too and if he comes along pretty good I will be taking two horses to Vegas 🤪

I have a bit of story to tell so hang on tight! This one doesn’t have much to do with mustangs but concerns my best friend and her journey with off the track thoroughbreds (OTTBs). When I first met Jules she was a kindred equestrian spirit with a passion for the underdogs just like me. Except instead of mustangs her background is in OTTBs. Her heart horse was a goofy chestnut gelding named Bello. You would have never guessed this healthy and spirited boy was a nineteen year old thoroughbred that once raced in his youth. Bello and Jules were as thick as thieves. Unfortunately Bello suddenly and tragically lost his life to a broken leg in the summer of 2022. Jules spent over a year without a horse but that hasn’t stopped her from continuing to be a blessing to the mustangs that come through my barn. She’s helped me bring along so many mustangs. Often being the second person to ever touch them or ride them. When she told me she was ready to get a new thoroughbred and to fulfil her lifelong dream of competing in the retired racehorse project (RRP) I told her I would do whatever it takes to get her there. The RRP is similar to a mustang makeover. Trainers select a thoroughbred who is freshly retired from racing and train them for many months before competing in Kentucky in October. Jules considered many horses before deciding on another chestnut gelding named Nemo. We knew from the very beginning that this kind and gentle soul was a diamond in the rough. You wouldn’t believe this incredibly quiet-minded boy was once a racehorse! Jules has given him the best care, attention, and training a horse could ever hope to have. When Nemo started showing signs of being uncomfortable undersaddle we knew something had to be wrong. A visit to the vet confirmed what we had feared and Nemo was diagnosed with kissing spines severe enough to require surgery for him to live and work comfortably again. However, our trusted vet is confident that Nemo has an excellent chance of recovery without any limitations! And as a bonus he should still be able to take Jules to Kentucky in October and fulfil her dream of competing in the RRP. There is nobody more deserving than Jules and I am now helping her raise money for Nemo’s surgery as part of my promise to help her get to the RRP. I am going to be offering an online course on teaching the laydown to your horse at a cost that far below what it would usually be offered for (although extra donations are appreciated). The information for this teaching opportunity can be found below this post in the comments. I really hope you consider donating!

It’s time for a mustang update! You may remember the beautiful mare named Lanai that I picked up back in September for the Mustang Magic. Well it has been a tough journey with her. We ended up having to drop out because she just wasn’t comfortable carrying a saddle or rider. Well she’s taken quite a bit of time off and I’ve addressed some of her veterinary needs and she is becoming a whole new horse. So now I’m “soft launching” my goal of taking her to compete in the Mustang Classic in Kentucky this year. I think her movement and personality shows promise in the English world. Pretty soon her I will be focusing on starting her undersaddle and putting a good foundation on her before moving on to English focused riding. Im hopeful that she will make a really nice riding horse to compete in Kentucky and go on to find her own perfect person. Let’s hear it for 💙

It was an honor to coach four amazing trainers for the San Antonio Wild to Mild TIP challenge! This is an in hand training challenge. Trainers had 3 months to gentle and train their horses for this competition. Part of the show involves preparing a freestyle that combines horsemanship with creativity. All four of these trainers won their freestyles in their respective divisions! I just posted the videos to my YouTube!
Connor (my hubby) trained his horse Evangeline for the TIP challenge and also hopes to take her to Vegas for the Mustang Challenge this year! We had a lot of fun planning his Princess and the Frog freestyle.
Maddie has been my student these past few months and has put a ton of work into her horse Russel. I was very excited to help them bring their UP themed freestyle to life! You can follow maddie on instagram ()
Eloise planned her own freestyle with her yearling Bacon Bit! I was thrilled to help them out with some of their groundwork leading up to the event and coach them through their classes. It has been such a joy to see her grow in her horsemanship! Kaylianna Huber has come to study under me a few times now! I have loved helping her get started at liberty with her mare Nostalgia. She planned her own freestyle using music from the Greatest Showman! Kaylianna also ended up winning the overall high point award for the whole show! You can follow her on facebook (KJ Equines) or Instagram ( )
Couldn’t be prouder of all of them!

This week the team is gearing up for the San Antonio Wild to Mild mustang training challenge! This is an in-hand competition and I have had the pleasure of helping out a few competitors as they prepare for the show.
🐴 My husband Connor is competing with his mare Evangeline in the veterans/first responder division
🐴 My intern Maddie is showing her horse Russel in the senior youth division
🐴 My student Eloise is showing her yearling BB in the junior youth division
🐴 My student Kaylianna (KJ Equines) is showing her mare Nostalgia in the adult division. She’s also last year’s adult overall champion!
They picked up their horses back in November and have spent the past few months gentling them and training them to compete in this challenge. It takes a special kind of dedication and horsemanship to work so diligently on refining the groundwork necessary to compete in one of these challenges. I’m really proud of the growth I’ve seen in all these competitors and grateful that I got to be a part of their journeys. Wish them all luck!

Late post as always 😊 but I did want to share some pics! Last month I was asked to help out with Sam Vanfleet's Mustangs wicked freestyle for the mustang magic! We had a heck of a fun time with this performance. Me and Tuxedo were the scarecrow alongside Grace Thompson the lion and Garret Shanks the Tinman! You’ll find a couple of familiar horses in the cast too! Vienna and Muse, two of my previous competition horses had small parts as well 😁 I was so thankful and humbled that Sam asked us to be a part of this act. Hopefully we can do something like this again sometime!

There are three very talented booties on my trailer right now! We are headed to Fort Worth TX can you guess who these special horses are?

I unfortunately had to drop out of the mustang magic with my mare lanai, we ran into quite a few challenges in training and it became clear she needed more time to become rideable. That’s just the way it goes sometimes. As much as I would love to be showing her this weekend I’m glad to be in Fort Worth to support friends and participate in a small way.

“It's been a long day without you, my friend
And I'll tell you all about it when I see you again
We've come a long way from where we began
Oh, I'll tell you all about it when I see you again”

I recently welcomed an old friend back into my life ❤️ Revelry was my very first makeover horse for the 2018 Fort Worth Makeover! She was the best mustang ever for someone who had barely started training horses. She was the one who really helped me start to make a name for myself. She taught me so many important lessons and also taught me how to say goodbye 💔 She sold in the auction and I hadn’t seen her in five years. But I promised her that if she ever needed a home again I would be there for her. I am so grateful to have been offered the opportunity to own her again. Little miss Rev has been on a diet as she was far too chunky and very uncomfortable. My vet did a metabolic panel and she tested positive for insulin resistance but I am happy to say with the help of my vet she is starting to lose weight and her fun and spunky personality is shining through once more!! Imagine my delight when I returned home from vacation and she was sound and happy after being off bute for a few days 💞 couldn’t help myself from going for a little ba****ck walk ride. Felt like coming home!! I’m so happy to have this girl back in my life. I have a plan for her future will I will be very excited to share when the time comes. Welcome home Revelry ❤️

I see you.

I see you, riding your horse at home, finishing in the dark because you had to get farm chores done and you got held up at work.
You were supposed to have a weekend of riding, but instead you had to fix fences the horses crashed through last week.
You have to get the kids to soccer, dance, and tutoring. Dinner, bills, homework, laundry.
Your riding lessons always seem to come last. Dressage To Go is for you.
Audio lessons to ride along to that put your coach in your pocket.
Make progress in your precious riding time, for you.
When you are ready to transform your riding, check the links in the comments.

I am very excited to announce this new partnership with Crystal Forsell Dressage and Dressage To Go! Ever wanted to ride in the peace of your own arena but with an instructor in your pocket every step to the way? You can find lessons from yours truly in the Dressage to Go app! And don’t forget to use the Code CAMILLE10 to save ❤️

A selfie? What?! And not even with a horse? Camille must be losing it! Well truthfully it’s been a bit busy around here. A lot of amazing things are happening behind the scenes. It’s hard to keep up with social media when each day is packed with activity. But I thought I’d try to update y’all on a few things! The selfie is from just after a photo shoot I did for a huge magazine! The article will be published in the fall and you can bet I will be sharing that once it’s public. But let’s get to the biggest piece of news: WE BOUGHT A PROPERTY! My husband and I found a cute little diamond in the rough with a great house and acreage to build the horse facilities of our dreams. I am sure as heck going to share some about the place soon. We’ve mostly moved into the house which is about 35 minutes from where we used to be. But there’s a lot of work to be done here before it’s ready to move the horses in (and I’m going back and forth 2x a day right now to feed and look after the horses). All my client horses have gone on break starting last week. Even Muse hasn’t been ridden for a couple of weeks. Next update is on her. She is incredible! So sweet, always happy to be caught and go to work. She’s undersaddle at the walk, trot, and canter right now and although she is still pretty green she’s a really fun ride. She’s super in tune to her rider, never spooky, and a really fast learner. I am just itching to get to ride her more but it’s just not possible right now with all the work we’re doing on the new place. We have officially been accepted for the Fort Worth Mustang Show in September! She will be available for adoption in the auction that follows the competition so please reach out to my email if you want to chat about Muse: [email protected]. Other than that I’ve got some new training series that will be coming at y’all soon (maybe 😅) and hopefully some content on YouTube about the updates we are doing to the property! That’s all I can think of right now but if you have any questions or want to let me know what you’d like to see more of let me know in the comments below!
