In April, the girls celebrated their birthday/gotcha day! Jada turned 13 and Bailey celebrated her 12th gotcha day! (She will turn 13 in September)

They are doing so well and living the life with our large backyard ❤️.

Life has been busy with school, but these girls (and Johnny or course) have kept me sane 😂.

"Mama woke me up from a nap to tag along with her at The Home Depot. I was groggy at first, but then I started getting lots of attention and scritches from the nice associates. I wanted to say 'hi' to everyone! 🥰" -Jada

I love how different the girls are when they go on solo excursions. They are always together and can get loud, but separately, they are so quiet and much more calm. These little outings are so very special to me 💗.

Super late post, but we celebrated Jada's 12th birthday and Bailey's 11th gotcha day at the beginning of April! 🎂🐾

I took a simple peanut butter dog treat recipe and put it into a round pan to make a kind of cookie cake and then added a meat stick treat for a candle 😆.

I love these girls, and I treasure every moment with them ❤️

Went to the vet for checkups, shots, and bloodwork today. The girls did so well! Jada is taking estrogen now to help with her bladder, and Bailey's anxiety has gotten a lot better with using trazadone as needed.

Had fun catching a urine sample from Bailey, and as soon as we got home, Jada ran to the treat drawer and demanded a snack for her good behavior 😂. Always love visiting Animal Medical Center Of Rome!

Jada's biopsies came back benign! 🎉

The masses are affected by the bacteria in her mouth, so the tooth that had to come out was a big factor.

Doing better with daily teeth brushing, thanks to the combined efforts of me and Johnny. ❤️

Jada is all smiles despite having been at the vet most of the day. 🐾❤️

We got some blood work done, deep ear cleaning, and a teeth cleaning. One tooth she chipped while eating acorns, that one is okay, but another one we had been eyeing for a while was removed.

There were a couple of masses in her mouth that have been sent out for a biopsy. Hopefully nothing serious.

And bloodwork is fine despite an increase of thirst that started within the past couple of months.

Thankful for my smiley girl ❤️. Thank you Animal Medical Center Of Rome for taking care of her.

Getting better with our crate training! Using methods based off of Michelle Kenyon's teachings. Jada needs some work with her whining 😅.

We went to the vet a few days ago and got some trazadone to give to Bailey for when we have to leave her in the crate.

I should have saved the video, but we had left her 2 weeks ago and she destroyed a rubber toy, chomped on the crate bars, and ripped parts of the crate cover. It was hard to see. I figured that adding some medicine would help, and it has so far.

Jada and Bailey are definitely dog selective. They are usually better with smaller dogs with low energy.

What have you noticed with your dog?

It is not normal for adult dogs to grow up, still wanting to be friends with everyone. Same as in people. When a dog becomes “selective” in social maturity, it is normal, not a behavior problem.

A realistic goal is to expect your dog to walk past another dog calmly without engaging in aggressive displays. An unrealistic goal is to expect your dog to run around and interact freely without aggressive displays, with every random dog they encounter.

Understanding what’s normal vs not can go a long way in making better choices.

This is happening...cause of this...

Bailey's anxiety has been really really bad. She has never been destructive before. 😩

We've done some crate training in the past, and we have a larger crate that they sleep in sometimes, but this will be consistent for now on.

We had our first trial run this morning when we went shopping and they did well. I put a little lickmat type thing with peanut butter in there and she was in heaven. I highly recommend it: https://amzn.to/3lH7CLj
