They aren’t called maligators for nothing. Do not get an animal because you saw it in a movie- PLEASE. The movie “Dog” with Channing Tatum is released tomorrow featuring a highly trained Belgian Malinois. We stand firm that most people should not own this type of breed and anyone interested should do an immense amount of research. This movie took THREE different Belgian Malinois and nine months of training for this movie. A highly trained Malinois is a work of art and can be amazing in the right hands- the right professional hands. We fear that we’ll see an influx of them in shelters soon and that will not go well for the breed. Due to the extreme amount of enrichment/exercise/training needed (think mini raptors), Belgian Malinois deteriorate very quickly in a shelter environment.
If you’ve made the decision to get a Belgian Malinois (and cleared your schedule for the next year of training), please remember that pure bred does not equal good breeding. Don’t help a backyard breeder line their pockets. Ethical Belgian Mal breeders won’t advertise on Facebook, road signs, or Craigslist. And they won’t sell their dogs to probably 90% of the population because not everyone is equipped to handle a dog like that.

Saw on FB today. Not familiar with vet but this is important info. Do not use products on pets until you are sure they are safe!

Today I had to euthanize this beautiful kitten. Her owners tried to treat her fleas with Sergeant’s Bansect squeeze-on. They bought it at the Dollar Tree. They did not realize IT IS NOT TO BE USED ON CATS.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE READ LABELS! Not all products make it obvious on their packaging which animal can use it safely.
PLEASE CALL YOUR VETERINARIAN IF YOU NEED ADVICE ON WHAT TO USE ON CATS THAT IS SAFE!! (They are NOT mini dogs!!).
I am not out to take all of your money-this is a job I do out of love and today I am crushed! Crushed for this kitten. Crushed for the family. Crushed for my staff who dropped what they were doing in the middle of a very busy morning already filled with emergencies to help me try to get a seizing cat under control. That one dollar tube of flea treatment did many dollars of damage, left the cat to die and the fleas were still walking all over her. Please do not use these brands: Sergeant’s, Hartz, Biospot, Zodiac! Share to help others keep their pets safe!!

URGENT Courtesy Listing for Adopter/Foster/Rescue (Kernersville NC)- This sweet boy literally jumped in a lady's car at CVS in Kernersville to find safety from a bad thunderstorm. Due to finder's medical issues he needs to find placement ASAP (by Monday Sept 27th) or finder will have to take to the shelter. HH4P has no available fosters.

This we have a ⭐️special request!⭐️ Those of you with cats that buy cat litter in jugs or pails... instead of tossing those secret treasures out when the litter is gone, consider donating them to the shelter!

We are 🌳GOING GREEN🌳 for our outreach program and are looking into re-useable containers for pet food distributions and cat litter instead of bags. We need your help to test this out, as we need clean re-useable containers such as cat litter pails and jugs as a foundation for testing this method out.

If you have clean sealable containers and would like to donate them to the shelter, you can donate them anytime in the donation box at the top parking lot of our shelter located at 4525 W. Wendover Ave. Greensboro NC 27409. If you need assistance unloading items, you can bring donations anytime between 12 and 5 pm Wednesday-Monday and our security guard will be able to assist!

UPDATE: Kitten is running a fever with no desire to eat and lethargy so vet has started him on antibiotics as well as treated for severe fleas. He is currently with a critical care foster to be safe he gets the care he needs.

UPDATE #2 Oliver is slowly doing better and acting more like a 2 month old kitten but we are still being cautious. He will need a follow up with the vet along with hopefully start kitten vaccines in a few weeks. So donations still greatly appreciated.

We had a foster pick up this urgent placement kitten this morning and overnight the finder said he started acting sick. Our partner vet is squeezing him in this afternoon but we could really use donations (and prayers that it’s something easily treatable).

Meet the newest HH4P fosters, bonded pair, Kevin and Arie. They have had a rough few months due to some landlord issues and their mom of 4 years has decided the best thing for them is to allow us to find them a forever home. We had a wonderful emergency foster step up and these babies are decompressing now but will be available in the near future. We are desperate to raise funds to cover a vet exam and any needed shots & testing for these babies. Any and all donations appreciated.

Here is another example of a deadly plant available at Lowes this weekend. This is a Sago Palm. Ingestion of ANY part of this by dogs or cats is toxic and often results in liver failure and death. The seeds are the most toxic part.

If you have pets, do NOT buy this plant. I really wish there was signage by these warning pet owners of their toxicity.
