A dog that has been worked with on resource guarding consistently since she was 6 weeks old. Not that she still doesn’t do it but she’s very easy to redirect. Ava at the end 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️😂

Many German pinchers have a tendency to “ resource guard” this is when they have some thing that is high value to them be it some type of food, a favorite toy, something they shouldn’t have or a dead animal. If you are trying to get this away from them, they may act aggressive, growl, or snap at you. This is commonly the time when many people get bit. There is an easy way to prevent this, ensuring that both parties get what they want. The dog gets some high value, usually a tasty treat that they don’t usually get, and the human gets the item the dog had. Everyone is happy and no one gets bit.. Eventually, you’ll find that the dog will immediately drop their sacred item and come over to see what higher value treat you are going to offer. Ava and I are a lot alike and that I also resource guard my ice cream. 😂😂

Ava, mother to the Greystone star litter at almost 9 years old doing one of her favorite things, dock diving. This was her first jump after a 2 year retirement.
