It has come to our attention that Save This Life microchips, which we have used, has suddenly and without notice shut down. Since they are no longer in business, your pets microchip number will no longer be registered. You can re-register your pets at the options in the photo below or at the free pet registry (https://www.freepetchipregistry.com/ ), a participant in the AAHA universal pet microchip lookup tool. We apologize for the inconvenience. Please call the office with any questions or if you need your pets microchip number.

Update: I have left the building but still available by page if needed. Sent staff home before the roads completely iced up. Slippery out there compared to this morning.
I am here but with very limited staff. If you have an urgent need, please call ASAP. Stay home and enjoy the snow. Let’s give the snow plows time to make the roads safe!

Today was Brittany's last official day at Wicomico Veterinary Hospital before leaving for vet school. To say we are all proud of her and how much progress she has made in veterinary medicine would be an understatement. We are also going to miss seeing her welcoming smile and upbeat attitude each day. Brittany's knowledge, drive, and compassion are going to take her far in life, and we have no doubt she will make an amazing veterinarian. Help us in wishing her nothing but the best of luck with all of her future endeavors! And here's hoping she comes back to see us each summer!

We had a great staff appreciation party with the combined staff from Wicomico Veterinary Hospital, Pets On The Shore and Winterplace Animal Hospital aboard the Tipsy Tikis of OC. We also had an early farewell dinner for Brittany as she is getting ready to depart for Virginia Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine!

02/07/2024

Just a reminder that we will be closed for appointments tomorrow, July 3rd and Friday, July 5th. A staff member will still be available to get any food or medications filled, but we will not have a doctor to sign prescriptions or authorize new ones.

The entire office will be closed on Thursday, July 4th.
In the case of emergency, please call PetsER at 410-543-8400.

Other emergency facilities include:
Delmarva Animal ER in Dover, DE 302-697-0850

CVRC in Annapolis, MD 410-224-0331 Ext 1

We hope everyone has a fun and safe 4th of July. Please keep pets inside if they have a tendency to get scared by fireworks.

27/06/2024

Dr. Brooks will be out of the office 6/27-7/8. Dr. Callahan, our relief vet, will be in the office seeing appointments during normal business hours 6/27-7/2. We will not be seeing appointments 7/3 and 7/5 but will have staff members in the office to answer calls and to refer sick pets to covering hospitals. We will be CLOSED 7/4 in observance of the holiday.

If your pet is running low on medicine or food, please inform us no later than 7/1 (especially medicine or food that needs to be ordered), as we can not guarantee refill approvals or the ordering of medication after this date. We will be resuming normal business hours 7/8.

We wish everyone a safe holiday! And remember, please keep your pets indoors with collars on during the fourth of July festivities! Fireworks are scary, and we do not want any of our furry friends to get lost! Please don't hesitate to call us with any questions!

If your pet has had an exam with Dr. Brooks, then it's probably safe to assume you've heard her or one of our assistants talking about their dental health.
One of the most common diseases among all of our pets that is commonly looked over is dental disease! Dental disease can cause a strain on your pets immune system because they are constantly fighting bacterial infection.
Brushing your pet's teeth every day to every other day can greatly reduce plaque and tarter buildup! However, if your pets are not amenable to teeth brushing or have accumulated tarter that brushing alone can't help, a dental diet may be the next best thing! Hill's t/d is a dental formulated diet, in which the large pieces of kibble are designed to scrape your pets teeth as they chew!

Marlin received daily brushing but was still having tarter build up. Once supplementing his normal kibble with Hill's t/d, you can see the tarter reduction in his before and after photos!

If you are interested in getting your pet on a dental diet or would like more information, please give our staff a call!
