Day1: I wish I could explain how exciting and beautiful each new puppy life is. There are so many emotions that go along with this work, it is hard at times but mostly so full of excitement and happiness. Each little milestone gets us so excited.

Yesterday was milestone one. Their arrival and all the emotion 👇

Excitement: it’s been 6 months since our last litter, and while the rest was necessary, we were all so excited to welcome these beauties into the world.

Fear: we had one little scare with one of the pups and we worked hard to help him. We know with Berners and whelping there is always a risk of some complication. We are happy to say that this boy is keeping up with the litter after a little intervention on our part. We are grateful and will probably get some extra attention from me because I’m pretty proud of his fight. He’s a strong boy already.

Pride: So proud of Lila and the way she trusts us. She is a great momma. She lets us know what she needs and she’s so good at communicating. She rested well when she was done whelping and has been so attentive already.

Sadness: we did have one sweet boy born sleeping. My son and husband worked so hard to revive him. It is hard when you feel like there is more you can do when in reality there isn’t. The way those two went into quick action is amazing to watch and goes right back to the feeling of pride.

We all value what we do here. Everyone does their part to make our long whelping days easy. My husband took on the task of prepping everything for whelping as I was gone most of Saturday with another commitment. Food was prepared by my daughter and her husband so we could focus on the delivery. Care was given all around by those who were able to be here this weekend.

Gratitude is what I woke up feeling this morning. And sure, I’m extra emotional because I’m exhausted and feeling all the things, but I am grateful for this space, my family and this work. Thanks for letting me share all of this, it’s the birth story in a nutshell with a side of Megan’s feelings. 😏 Puppies are cute, this work is hard but at the end of the day, I feel so much joy.

A reintroduction of sorts:

Hi! I’m Megan. I am the face you’ll see the most at Berns & Doodles. This little dream has become a big reality and it really does just keep getting better and better.

Never in my wildest dreams would I ever think that I’d be known as Berns & Doodles, but it happened. I go places and people say…”aren’t you Berns & Doodles?”

Blows me away. Why? Because I love this space. I love my dogs and I love our families. I do it because it brings me joy and I’m so incredibly overwhelmed to be able to witness the joy our puppies bring to others. I do it because I love it. This is the hardest work I’ve ever done. This is the easiest work I’ve ever done. It is hands down my most favorite work ever.

Thanks for following along and allowing me a sweet place to share all about us and our program. I love sharing what we do.

So, just a small reintro for those who may not really know me. I’m just Megan. Happily know as Berns & Doodles. And I love dogs. 🤍

Can you guess the litter theme? These are our F1b mini Bernedoodles! Aspen had 10 beauties on May 31, 2024. We had two tri-brown babies in this bunch and the rest are traditional tri-color! It’s true! We are about to have another beautiful litter of mini aussiedoodles! This time with Luna. We are so excited for these puppies. We are expecting some beauties!!!Yes, the waitlist is open! Message me for details and questions.

Day 1 done! It’s safe to say that the puppies were pretty pleased when they finally got to meet their new people! The tail wags tell the story! I’m fairly certain their people were pretty pleased with their puppy too…so much happiness was handed off today. Stay tuned for more Homegoing happiness!!! WE LOVE THIS PART! ❤️❤️❤️

Wow. Just like that they are headed for home. I’ve loved every bit of this litter ♥️…this weekend and next are about to be joy filled and so exciting for our families…hard work for them but so worth it! I can’t wait to witness all of the excitement that is about to happen as our families meet their puppies for the first time and get to take them home! I love this part. ❤️

Iris….this girl is amazing! She loves her people and she loves them hard! ♥️ I have to hold my ground when she comes in for the love…I might tear my ACL the way she leans on me! We wanted to share that she will officially be one of our AKC Bernese Mountain Dog Breeder Babes and we look forward to having her first litter in the very near future! We are hoping to have some beautiful Iris babies in early 2024!
