Advice from the vets during the heatwave

If you suspect your dog has heat stroke here’s a bit of helpful information on what to do

Do’s
📞 call your vets immediately.
💦 put them in water but not ice cold,( this can make their temperature increase if to cold or send them into shock).
⚡️ use a fan.
You can Let them lay on a cool wet towel or cooling mat.
💧 do give them cool fresh water.

Don’t’s
⚠️ do not cover their body with a wet towel, this will trap the heat in.
⚠️ There’s been a recent post being shared across social media; regarding giving animals lemon juice/ water, we do not advice this.
⚠️ don’t put anything down their throat they may aspirate this causing aspiration pneumonia.

Prevention:
✅ Generally we would recommend walking in the morning and evening but looking at Sunday - Tuesdays weather. We are advising not to walk your pets.
✅ provide fresh cool water.
✅ provide shaded Areas.
✅ provide a cooling mat
✅ provide a pool to cool their paws (be careful they do not play in this to much as they can drink to much).
✅ provide a fan.

UPDATE
Summer Holidays reminder!!! 🏖 🌞

Please note that during the school holiday week commencing the 27th of July. I will only be grooming dogs that have pre booked an appointment with me in advance!!!!

I am contacting all customers who are on a regular schedule. I am hoping to finalise by the 16th of July.

If I have sent you a proposed date, please confirm! Likewise if you are still waiting for confirmation from me, please feel free to give me a nudge!
