Hudson is fighting what our vet believes is end-stage GOLPP. Thankfully he is not having difficulty breathing, just some coughing. Some swallowing issues, mostly hard for him to swallow pills, but he has lost almost all of the muscle tone in his legs, and his legs tremble to the point that it is hard for him to stand. Vet doesn't feel he is in pain. When researching GOLPP I have read that it is under-diagnosed. If you have ever lost a dog to this condition, please message me through my personal page, Melanie Travis Schlaginhaufen. Thank you to everyone who has complimented Hudson's photos and videos through the years, he has been an amazing companion to our family.
UKC Ch. Prodigy's Content of Character, a/k/a Hudson, Huddy Buddy, a true heart dog, so much so that I may not be able to write about him for awhile when the day finally comes to let him go. I can't thank Heather Bryan Brown enough for sharing Hudson with us. Here is some info about this GOLPP, which some websites say is underdiagnosed, so it would be good for dog owners to become aware of it:
GOLPP, or geriatric onset laryngeal paralysis and polyneuropathy, is a neurological condition that affects older dogs. A dog will start to have difficulty breathing and progressive weakness starting in the hind legs, then progressing to the front legs.
