Shady is 4 months today. We are playing with multiple balls because she is about to lose her baby teeth and I don’t want her spoiled for playing tig bu accidentally yanking out a tooth. Back to playing tug when her new teeth come in.
Management is a huge part of training dogs. You don’t want them rehearsing bad behavior. Let them play but let them be separate too. Here are my 3 dogs each in their own place having some down-time.
Working on distance downs with Maizy.
New dog? Super charge it’s name recognition.
Whether it’s a puppy or adult dog, when you give a dog a new name, the name becomes relevant faster with food reinforcement.
Finn is working hard and thinking about what to do. He refused to train for two days early this week. He isn’t used to working for his food or having anything expected of him so he went on strike.
So we’re a bit behind. Fortunately, he likes to eat and he is working for his meals again.
For his family, an important part of continuing his training will be to make him work for his food in the dog bed and down commands and to keep his portions appropriate for him.
Finn still working getting on the dog bed but now lying down. His most relaxed place will eventually be in a down position on the bed. It will take a few months for him to stay reliably, I will show his family how to continue and enforce compliance. He is working for his kibble breakfast.
Finn sitting like a pro today.
