I was commissioned to paint this sweet girl Sandy, who crossed the Rainbow Bridge just a short time ago. The original model photo did not include the milkbones. That was her favorite treat! 💖

About Mary B’s

Hi all and welcome to my page. Thanks for your patience as I have been busy painting and wanted to have time to create a page that all could enjoy. I did not know I could paint at all until my sweet mother in law invited me to a painting class back in 2006. I had no supplies on my first visit and borrowed my mother in laws. After a few classes I was encouraged by the instructor, Joan Schoenhofer, that I should just go and paint. (Feature photo above is my first painting) Ha! Her faith that I had a talent grew from there. I painted cute little boxes at first and gave every friend and family member something I thought would speak to them.

I paint in acrylics only. My main style of art is wildlife or animals, and I choose to use close up photos as my subjects. I also enjoy doing fantasy art and will try and categorize my postings. I have also painted wall murals for baby nurseries and they are more whimsy than the effect I use for my animal prints. I have worked hard to depict the animals characteristics that bring it to life so that it looks like a picture.

I have not painted a person as yet, and honestly I don’t know if I could. Plus, I wouldn’t want to insult anyone for not getting their features right. If I attempt this in the future, you can rest assured it will likely be of myself first. I am hopeful to start painting for the public and selling these items. I feel like I am ready now after all these years. If you know of someone who has a beloved pet or something you would like to challenge me to paint, I would be honored to do it. I would say that most of my paintings take an average of a couple of weeks. I am a full time Nonna to my grandboys and homeschool the oldest. I paint in the evenings after they go home and then some on the weekends. I am averaging about 40-60 hours on a painting.

Please feel free to share my page with your friends. Thank you for your interest and MOSTLY your encouragement!
