As revealed in SAVING AMERICA’S HORSES A NATION BETRAYED, livestock permits are controlled by the U.S. government, and livestock grazing is a key component to food production and the economy both on and off reservation land.
Tribes have been THREATENED by U.S. Agriculture and Forestry Departments with a loss of livestock grazing permits if they fail to implement certain management policies. Government funding incentives that benefit the grazing of livestock are also offered to Tribes that manage their habitat a ‘certain way’. Government materials are used to get Tribes to simply repeat agency propaganda such as, “Feral horses are eating all the vegetation on rolling hillsides, depriving livestock of forage and endangering plants.” – USDA APHIS.
