As many of you know, I've been heavily involved in animal rescue for many years. I also offer free pet grooming to animals currently in rescue or a shelter. I rarely post personally asking for help, but this guy really tugs at my heart strings and desperately needs it.

Dwayne the Cat Johnson, as he's been affectionately named,came into care after I spotted him posted on a local animal page. Something about him really spoke to me and I offered to help.

Dwayne had been frequenting a neighbourhood for awhile and was beginning to look rough. A kind neighbour was feeding him and eventually helped trap him, thanks to a trapper.

Poor Dwayne was covered in wounds and had an obvious issue with his eye. He wasn't very trusty and was pretty spicy when he came in.

Poor guy is FIV+ and he had to have his eye removed, which alone was an almost $2500 bill.

After surgery, though, he totally blossomed. He had become a sucky, mushy sweet baby and he was feeling so much better.

Sadly, Dwayne has now fallen ill and needs hospitalisation. We've had bloodwork run, and his numbers look a bit wacky, but there is no clear cause as to what is making him sick. He stopped eating on his own and was lethargic.

He is currently in the very loving and capable hands of Barton Grays. He is currently on IV, and we're going to see how he responds and go from there.

I am hoping to raise at least $500 to help cover a couple of days in hospital and any medications he may need. If you can help, even a few dollars, it would mean the world to me and Dwayne. Cats like Dwayne don't always get a chance at a good life and I can't let this be the end for him.
