Please spread the word for this lost dog. Piper was LOST on November 2, 2024 in Omaha, NE 68110 near 11th and Grace st
Message from Owner: Piper was lost on October 31, 2024 and I found her at NHS later that day. I called NHS multiple times every single day and funny, I only got ONE call back. Piper is my registered ESA and is also registered as my service dog for my severe maniac depression and my bipolar disorder. I made sure NHS was well aware of this. THEY REFUSED TO TELL ME HOW MUCH IT WOULD COST TO GET HER OUT PERIOD THE ONE CALL I GOT BACK. I was informed by email that after being held for TWO DAM DAYS, she became property of NHS. Federal law has a special law that overrides any state law and it requires an animal to be held a minimum of FIVE DAYS. And that only pertains to animals that the owner cannot be located. I CONSTANTLY CALLED AND LEFT NUMEROUS VOICEMAILS. THEY KNEW I WAS HER OWNER AND WAS GETTING THE MONEY TOGETHER TO GET HER BUT NHS WOULDNT TELL ME AN AMOUNT EVER SO THAT I HAD A GOAL AMOUNT. In cases like that the federal law says that the animal is to be held longer giving the owner a fair and reasonable chance to be reunited with their companion. WAS I GIVEN A FAIR AND REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME OR HELP FROM NHS AS FAR AS SIMPLY GIVING ME A SET AMOUNT OR BALL PARK AMOUNT? WAS TWO DAYS REASONABLE TIME TO REUNITE ME AND MY COMPANION WHEN IM ON A VERY LIMITED BUDGET BUT WAS GETTING THE MONEY TOGETHER.? WAS I GIVEN A FAIR CHANCE? PIPER WAS NEVER POSTED AS AN AVAILABLE ADOPTABLE DOG REGARDLESS OF THE FACT THAT SHE DIDNT HAVE A MEAN BONE IN HER BODY AND WAS THE SWEETEST GIRL EVER WHO LOVED HER CHEST AND BELLY RUBBED AND GOING ON WALKS. MY OTHER DOG, PIPERS FATHER, WILL BARELY EAT SINCE SHE HAS BEEN GONE AND LAYS CRYING AND WHIMPERING. HE WONT PLAY HIS FAVORITE GAME OF FETCH SINCE SHE HAS BEEN GONE EITHER. YOU CAN SEE HE IS HEARTBROKEN WHEN YOU LOOK IN HIS EYES. PIPER WAS HIS BEST FRIEND. I RAISED PIPER SINCE THE VERY DAY SHE WAS BORN. WAS NHS fair at all? When I've emailed the past few days, they tell me they are under no obligation to tell me anything about where she is or what happened to her. I'm only told she isn't at the shelter anymore. If someone reading this knows where she is or who adopted her if she even was adopted out, please contact me. If somebody knows anything period about her, it will all be totally confidential. I would love to bring my girl and my other dogs best friend back. It feels like I've lost my child. Please if anyone knows anything please get a hold of me. If anyone knows where she is or who has her, I will reimburse all NHS fees, all money spent for food, toys, etc. and I will also reimburse for taking care of her and providing her a safe loving until she came back to her family. I would even allow joint custody with that person if there is one. We just need our family to be complete again. Thank you
