Look at this beautiful boy! Christopher Robin was born on the street with his sibling Morgan. Both living by a dangerous train station in Harlem. It’s amazing they survived, especially since so many others in that area perished.

Christopher is ready for his forever home. He’s such a sweet , good natured, playful 1 year old boy who LOVES other cats! Same as his sister Morgan. Let’s try to find these two sweethearts their forever ❤️❤️❤️

Frosty is settling in after being abandoned by his owners when they moved. He’s shut down a bit with a URI, but he’s safe. He needs a little time to decompress and get better. But he’s a lucky boy! Horrific to think someone could just leave an animal to fend for themselves.

Please support our rescue efforts! Links in profile🙏

Got him! Took awhile, but this poor one is now safe. Months living on the street in the freezing cold where his owners abandoned him when they moved. Heartbreaking. But his new life begins now 🙏 We named him Frosty.

Will update more later. But please support this work. This is what we do. Saving lives and helping the helpless. Frosty should have never been left there to die on the street. Who can do things like this to poor animals who can’t fend for themselves???

We’ll try to secure a vet appointment this week but in the meantime, Frosty is safe and sound. 🙏

You can make a donation in Frosty’s name if you can. Links in profile. Thank you as always for your support❤️

Just got an urgent request. On my way to try to get this cat who was left outside to fend for himself when his family moved. He’s been hanging out a few doors down in an abandoned house. Supposedly for months! If not longer! Neighbors have been feeding him but no one has tried to get him. This is just heartbreaking. Send good luck 🙏

Precious Matteo is getting neutered today 🙏 His blood results came back positive for FIV. Which if anyone knows really doesn’t mean much except that his immune system is low. So he’s a really really lucky boy to have been rescued by an actual rescue group. Who will give him the very best care. After someone put him in a carrier and dumped him in a park in the freezing cold 😿 We will never know the full story, but he’s extremely lucky. This dumping thing is becoming a way too common occurrence sadly.

Matteo is very shy, but so so docile. He’s even starting to play ❤️
He’ll be looking for his forever home!!!

It’s a beautiful thing when children are raised with pets. It teaches them compassion, responsibility, love and empathy. Especially when they are also taught that each of these animals that they love so much were saved and rescued. They learn how to keep them safe and how to love and care for them the rest of their lives ❤️They become their true and loyal companions ❤️ And the love is mutual!

Here are a few of our recent rescues and their beautiful young adopters ❤️ Special of Tennessee, our special rescue pit mix!

The gorgeous young chubby cheeked Claudette still needs a foster home asap!!!! She is a sweet girl but she’s still in that frightened mode. She needs someone who can work with her, someone who has a little bit of time. PLEASE HELP!!! She has huge potential and gets along great with other cats. She’s been in the same place for months now without much human interaction. No fault of the foster at all. She took a job where she’s working morning, noon and night. Overnights as well.

We need to put this cat on the top of the list before we can rescue more. Please spread the word about this cutie pie Claudette!!!🙏🙏🙏

Look at Tuesday! Rescued only a couple days ago (on ), she’s already enjoying pets. 😻 Of course, she is frightened and is hiding in the bathroom and withdraws when you come near. But because she is docile, I scruff her, put her on my lap, and pet her all over. She actually even began to purr 😻 These kinds of cats can’t be left alone to see if they come around on their own. It’s important to be proactive, especially in the beginning, otherwise it becomes much more difficult to socialize.

Tuesday is about 7 months old and was born on the street. She and her two sisters June and Quarter, are all blind in one eye. The vet verified that they had a bad viral infection while living on the street. And because they weren’t medicated and treated, they became blind in the one eye. But no operation is needed and it doesn’t affect them at all. They are very lucky to have been rescued!

Tuesday is going to her foster home tomorrow and will be up for adoption in no time ❤️ She’s precious!

Matteo update!!!! This sweet boy, who was dumped in a park inside a carrier with a “free cat” sign, is doing very well! He is very very sweet…still shy and nervous, but is getting more comfortable every day. 😊

He went to the vet for an exam and shots. It seems he’s very overweight and not neutered, but overall appears to be healthy. We got bloodwork done to see if his weight is caused by another issue besides just maybe eating too much. He will need to get neutered, but we’re waiting for an appointment and funds.

The vet thinks he’s about 3-4 years old.

Matteo is a super lucky boy that we rescued him when we did. Anything could have happened to him. But thankfully, his new amazing life is just beginning!!🙏🙏🙏

Sweet little Morgan is up for adoption! This good natured beautiful soul is a very special young girl. A little under 1 year old, Morgan was living in a train station in East Harlem with her brother, Christopher Robin, and many other cats. It was extremely dangerous and she almost didn’t make it.

But thankfully, she (and her brother) have been saved…and she is thriving in her foster home!!! She loves to play with all kinds of toys, loves to sunbathe by the window, and LOVES all other cats. She MUST go into a home with a feline companion (s)! She’s so sweet with every cat and just adores being close to them❤️

So if you already have a cat who is looking for a friend, Morgan is your girl 😻

Reach out about this tiny beauty! She’s fully vetted, healthy, and ready for her forever home ❤️

On this , another life has been saved from the “painter colony”! Hours and hours and days and days have been spent at this location with no luck. But today, this little one was saved🙏

He/she is the sibling to June and Quarter (now Ziggy). And they all 3 have one blind eye. Ironically it’s all their left eyes. Genetics. It’s a blessing we rescued all 3 now🙏 As they were very vulnerable on the street, only able to see out of one eye. And living in a pile of rubble no less😿

We will name her Tuesday. So for , please consider donating!!! Tuesday will be going to the vet on Thursday and will be getting the works done. Which will cost $200 for everything. And we will be back trapping again tomorrow to hopefully rescue a few more 🙏 We don’t give up!

Construction began full on at this location and the cats have been dispersed in different areas. Which makes the whole thing much more difficult. But we keep trying!!!

Donation links in profile. 🙏 Thank you as always for your support. This work cannot be done without all of you!!!❤️

On this , unfortunately there wasn’t time to create a fancy video to promote all our rescues & the busy work we’ve been doing lately. (Social media help still needed!)
But here are 5 babies who represent what this rescue is about. 5 cats who almost died on the streets, but are now thriving, happy, safe & healthy!

Brothers Simon & Garfunkel were extremely sick after being born on the street. They almost lost both eyes as well as their lives. Thankfully, they were rescued just in time & were able to get eye enucleation surgeries. They are the happiest cats right now, & are still together. They were bonded from day 1, and continue to remain the best of friends!

Magnolia was living in an active Harlem construction site, injured, starving & scared. She took forever to be rescued! I can’t tell you how many hours & days were spent trying to trap her. Thankfully, we never gave up because she has been thriving in her home with ever since! And while she is a shy girl with a limp, she’s extremely happy & so so loved.

The handsome Mo. The 1st cat rescued from the large Bensonhurst colony. He was bounced around to 3 different foster homes & was what some would call “feral”. A cat people would say would be happier living outside. (No cat would) Without being socialized, he ended up becoming a happy indoor cat who could not be pet. UNTIL, he went into the right home for him. A home where he felt fully comfortable & was able to become socialized thru consistency, patience & love. And guess what…he’s now a full on lap cat, begging to be pet! How great for him to have been given that chance, & to not be dismissed because he was initially very frightened.

And lastly Matteo, a dumped friendly cat. The pics & video say it all😿

Each of these cats took a lot time and effort to rescue, to get them healthy, and help them become happy indoor cats. And they, along with every cat we save, are well worth it all.

Please support us & help us continue to save more lives. Consider donating to this small rescue group who works tirelessly to help the helpless. Donations links in profile 🙏 And as always, thank you for your support!!!❤️

Our Story

New York City is home to nearly half-a-million stray cats, and this number continues to rise rapidly. Some of these animals have been abandoned by careless pet owners, while others are born to a life on the streets. No matter what their circumstance, the grim reality is that the majority of strays do not live past the age of three. Every day, they struggle to find access to food, shelter and water. Many others die after being struck by a car, ingesting rat poison or freezing to death during the winter months.

In 2015, actress Alicia Harding could not help but notice a colony of feral cats near home. As the daughter of an animal rescuer, she felt compelled to help. With experience in trapping, she took to the streets and removed all 20 them from the dangerous conditions. Little did Harding know, that fateful day would be the birth of New York City Animal Rescue Girls. What started as a small operation has quickly evolved.

Since its founding, NYCARG has rescued more than 300 homeless and/or unwanted animals via adoption services and fostering services. Unlike many large, nationally-recognized nonprofits, where CEOs and executive team members make six figures, New York City Animal Rescue Girls (NYCARG) is a 100 percent not-for-profit organization.

Operating on donations alone, NYCARG relies heavily on the generosity of others. When you donate to NYCARG, you may rest assured that every penny will be used to help a homeless or sick animal. Our organization is comprised solely of volunteers who dedicate their time for the love of animals.
