Every foster parent has different set ups and spaces and can offer different things for their foster cats. Siblings JoJo, Sadie and Ringo needed a place to go after being rescued where they could be socialized and get hands all over them on a regular basis. They were set up in a large crate and were interacted with regularly. They became socialized quickly and have turned into purr machines! Their foster mom did a great job! They were just spayed and neutered and fully vetted last week, but they now need to move to a different foster home. They need to run and jump and get out of their crate. You can see how playful they are! Where they currently are, there is nowhere for them to go because of the multiple other cats and dogs. So we’re looking for a new foster home with at least a room where these munchkins can have fun and run! Pollock is adopted!

POLLOCK! The first of the “Painter” colony is adopted! And he’s purring already😻 This boy was the shyest and the least visible…but he ended up being the most affectionate the fastest. You cannot judge the personality of a cat on the street. If not given a chance inside, nobody would have known his true personality. What these cats endure outside forces them to be fearful and on edge. But how lucky is he to be adopted into a wonderful home with @yourgirlschwa ! And to have been fostered by superstar foster @fionaeni ! Sadly, Hopper and Frieda are still out there. The plan is to try for them in the next few days. But fosters are needed!!! They will need some time to adjust, but we’re sure they will be just as sweet as the entire crew is. Alfie!

Went to visit Alfie at his foster home while foster mom is out of town. Alfie was labeled “feral” by the vet and he was definitely hissy and spitty in the trap. But that was because he was scared. He could have easily been released into an area where he would have gotten food sporadically and would have lived a short life. He’s about two years old and probably wouldn’t make it past 4. If lucky. Alfie was full of fleas and worms and was dehydrated. He lasted two years outside, so people would think he’s a survivor. And he wasn’t showing signs of friendliness. But why not give him a chance at a better life! And now look at him! It even looks like he may be starting to enjoy petting. He’s definitely a work in progress, but it’s very much worth it😻 You can see the progression in today’s short visit. Spoon (with baby food of course), spoon petting, then hand. Patience, being able to read them and consistency are key factors in socializing. As well as working with cats instead of waiting for them to come around on their own. It also helps when you’re on the same level as a scared cat, instead of towering over them, crouching down when they’re on the floor. It’s highly recommended to initially set crates up on a table if possible. Alfie may just be a lap cat one day!❤️ #socializingcats #rescuecat #savinglives

Little 2 month old Comet is being rushed to the emergency vet right now. He’s having difficulty breathing and is very lethargic. Comet was born inside with his two siblings and was relinquished to us with their mom. Sadly the one sibling passed away. We don’t know why. But sister Moon is currently doing very well. Unfortunately Comet is not, so we don’t want to waste time and we need to get him looked at asap. Especially with the holiday coming up. 🙏 When it rains it pours. This is so unexpected. 8 month old buddies Camilla and Palemedes got fully vetted today. They were two super friendly young cats who just randomly showed up one day at a Harlem colony. It’s truly getting out of control! I was lucky enough to get them vetted today in NJ, which cost almost $200 each. ASPCA released their appointments today for the month of January and they are only giving out 45 IN ALL OF NYC!!! Including Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx. What is happening?!?!?! Rescuers work so hard to save these animals but nobody is stepping up to help get them vetted! Shame on the bigger organizations who have the money and who don’t even rescue! If not rescued, Camilla would have gotten pregnant, had multiple litters in a horrible area in Harlem and these two super friendly cats (along with all their babies) would have lived a short sad and painful life on the street. Struggling nonstop. It’s become just unbearable. Camilla and Palamedes are two of the very few lucky ones. But now they have nowhere to go, because there are no fosters or homes. What were we to do??? Leave them on the dangerous street?? Not get them vetted when we were able to secure two $200 appointments?? If you can foster or adopt these two unbelievably sweet and affectionate young cats, please reach out. Thank you @l.s.c for fostering this absolute angel of a cat, Agnes! After being in the car for hours today, she arrived at her new foster home purring up a storm 😻 She’s absolutely incredible! Thank you to her feeder in the Bronx , Samantha, who reached out for help after she saw this tiny girl on the street, skinny and pregnant. So glad this all worked out, even though intake is closed. This is Pollock! Dad to all the kitties from the “Painter Colony”. We desperately tried to trap him many times because we thought he was a pregnant female. No luck. Then we see him very skinny so we thought “she” had kittens. When he finally did go into the trap, we thought we’d have to search all over for babies, even though we didn’t see any. Well, after going to the vet, we discovered he was a male who had lost a lot of weight! AND the best part of this story is that he’s extremely affectionate and loving. The most loving out of the entire crew! And he was the shyest, most frightened on the street. Also the oldest, 2 years old! So when people say a cat who was born on the street and is over 2 months old cannot turn friendly is the craziest thing ever!!! Thanks to foster mom @fionaeni for being such a great socializer and foster mom. Pollock is up for adoption ! He gets along great with other cats. And dogs! #savinglives #rescuecat #adoptdontshop

Planning to rescue this precious sweet young cat from the Bronx now. It’s absolutely crazy to take in another cat without fosters, homes, funds. But this girl is young, super friendly, and most likely pregnant. I said yes because of all those reasons, and the feeder said no one else stepped up, plus there is a vet appointment lined up for tomorrow. This absolutely precious 8 year old boy needs to move from his foster home in 2 weeks!!! 😿 Morty has a very sad story… He and his brother, Micky, came from a horrific and dangerous colony in Harlem. All 20 cats were rescued and saved from that nightmare. None were returned! And all were adopted into wonderful homes 🙏 Micky and Morty were very young kittens and were adopted quickly. They were thriving, happy, playful, loving and affectionate. Just precious little boys! Then about 5 years later, their owner went overseas for a year and his mom took care of the cats. Nobody knew, but Morty developed a urinary blockage which led to an infection. He was in excruciating pain and it got worse and worse. He hid all the time, he became sad and angry, stopped playing and barely ate. When the owner returned home, he decided he couldn’t care for him anymore. We took poor Morty to the vet and discovered his diagnosis. It’s amazing he didn’t die from this, as many cats do. Luckily we got him medicated, switched food and found a wonderful foster home for him. He is thriving now! He is healthy, he is playing, he loves to be pet, and he is craving to be around other cats again. AND, he needs to move this month! What this poor boy has endured is heartbreaking. But he is incredibly lucky to be given a second chance. We need to find a home for him asap!!! Someone who has other cats (cat) and someone compassionate who will be patient with him, now that he’s finally back on his feet. Look at this girl!!! Cricket was TNR’d by someone into a construction site in Harlem. Who knows how long she lived out there. 😿 But how lucky is she that she went into the trap on Sunday!!! She’s been sleeping a lot the past couple days and eating well and staying warm. Probably exhausted struggling to survive in the freezing cold. She is an absolute PURR MACHINE!!! SO SWEET!!! She’ll be going to the vet tomorrow, and then into a #foster home. Even though she’s ready for a forever one. Only a couple more days before the absolutely “lovely” STELLA needs to move from her current #foster home. She’s ready to be adopted and will be a wonderful addition to your family. She is sweet, easy going, low maintenance and a true survivor! She was on deaths door living on the streets of Harlem. Having lost all of her kittens, living in an area with barely any food supply, and evil neighbors spreading poison all over to get rid of the cats. NYCARG wants to do everything possible to help him recover. Please click the link above for the GoFundMe page if you can help! This is the latest update on his condition- Had to take him to the ER because he had blood in his urine again and seemed lethargic. Even though we had a regular vet appointment scheduled. Didn’t want to risk anything! He was soooo good at the vet! An absolute Angel! He got blood work, urine test, another X-ray and full exam. Thankfully, his cheek wound is not caused by a mouth abscess. Even though he does have stomatitis ☹️ He has another urinary blockage. So he’s on special food, and strong antibiotics for both the wound and blockage. Once those are healed, we’ll deal with the stomatitis. Since back home, his energy has increased, he’s eating well, and he’s been using the litter box🙏 Let’s hope this continues! The vet did say there is a slight chance he has FIP, which could be why the wound isn’t healing. He’ll go back for blood work and another urine test in a couple weeks. 🙏🙏🙏 Praying that is not the case! Thank you to those who donated to his Go Fund Me!!! We definitely need more for the upcoming revisit and tests, as well as for his expensive food. Which he may need to be on for awhile. Link is above & below if you'd like to help!
