Tess McIntyre Foundation This foundation raises funds for animals who need medical attention in order to improve their quality of life and their chances for adoption.

About The Tess McIntyre Foundation

Tess was a one-and one-half year old Golden Retriever living outside at the home of a single mother who eventually decided she couldn’t take care of her. She was turned over to the Southern California Golden Retriever Rescue (SCGRR) where she was placed in a foster home until being adopted in 2014. She immediately charmed her new family with her energy and frien

dly, playful personality and quickly engaged her adopted sister, 11-year-old Zelda. In August, just a few days shy of her third birthday and only 10 months after finding her new home, Tess was killed instantly while playing when she ran into the side of a moving car. Tess’ owners, Bill McIntyre and Patricia Low, were devastated. Fast forward a couple weeks and Bill and Pat find themselves on a two-day drive in a rental car from Texas to their Southeastern California home. In the back seat was Cinda. A pure bred English Cream Golden Retriever, Cinda was sold to a breeder at a young age. But when the breeder found out that Cinda had an inverted eyelash condition she was targeted as damaged goods and sent back to the original seller with her $4,000 price tag refunded. Cinda was literally put out to pasture. With no future in breeding she was never provided with the operation to fix her eyes that would save her from going blind. She was living in a backyard pen. Until Bill and Pat came to rescue her. She has now had her eyelash condition successfully corrected, has been spayed, and has taken her place alongside Zelda in her new home. But that doesn’t mean Tess has been forgotten. She is the inspiration for the Tess McIntyre Foundation. Bill and Pat consider Cinda to be the first beneficiary of the foundation. Another will be the SCGRR, the agency that rescued Tess and placed her in a stable home. The foundation is not a rescue organization in itself. Its goal is, instead, to provide funding for other qualified rescue services. Their first priority will be in helping organizations who are working with animals, like Cinda, who need medical attention in order to improve their chances of adoption and finding a home. The foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit which was started in August, recently launched its Web site where you can contact the foundation or make a donation. All of the money donated will go toward helping rescued animals, the only administrative costs being the fee charged for processing credit card donations. While they will never completely get over the shock of Tess’ accident, her owners are dedicating themselves to remembering her in a meaningful way by helping other needy dogs live a healthy life in a loving home.

Lupa was only six months old when she was rescued by our partners Home for Good Dog Rescue. A lab mix, Lupa was targeted for euthanasia at a kill shelter in Swainsboro, Ga., because she was suffering from severe skin infections. She was later diagnosed with Demodex mange.

We’re helping Lupa set out on the road to recovery by paying for her antibiotics and medicated baths. Our funding will also provide her with vaccinations, spay and routine veterinary testing.

The Tess McIntyre Foundation is a 501(c)3 charity that works with rescue agency partners to help provide funding for the medical care needed by some rescued dogs. Your donations to the foundation will help us help more dogs like Lupa.

When Diamond was surrendered to our partners at Eleventh Hour Rescue by an owner who no longer wanted her, she collapsed and had to be taken to an emergency vet. They determined that she had a stroke or brain tumor. It turns out that 10-year-old Diamond had never been taken to a vet and had been bred repeatedly.

We’re helping Diamond by making a contribution to offset some of her medical expenses. She is now recovering but has a lot of treatment ahead of her as she is suffering from mammary masses, a urinary tract infection, a mass on her back and ear infections.

We’re told she is getting a little better everyday. Can’t want for the time when Diamond is healthy and adopted into the caring home that she deserves.

When our partners at Golden Retriever Rescue of the Rockies (GRRR) heard about Finley, he had stopped eating and was lethargic. A visit to the vet determined that Finley had an intestinal blockage and that immediate surgery was necessary to save this two-year old Golden Retriever and to avoid permanent damage.

Finley’s owner was unable to pay for the surgery. GRRR committed to paying for Finley’s operation. That procedure found that Finley had been eating some stuff he shouldn’t have. Like a towel, some plastic wrappers and some tin foil. Finley ended up in veterinary ICU, but he regained his strength and recovered.

A GRRR volunteer brought him from Grand Junction to the rescue in Arvada, Colo. He apparently charmed the folks at the veterinary hospital where he was taken for further observation. One of the vet techs there fostered him, and then one of the veterinarians adopted him.

We are making a contribution to GRRR to help offset the expense of Finley's surgery and his follow up care. The Tess McIntyre Foundation is a 501(3)c charity. Contributions to the foundation will help us to help more dogs like Finley.

This little puppy was left on the front porch of a Georgia rescue in the middle of the night. She was howling and crying. We don’t know who dumped her but suspect it was a breeder who didn’t want to deal with the cherry eye condition she suffers from in each eye.

Athena is a six-month old Cano Corso mix. She was sent north to our partners at Eleventh Hour Rescue in Morris County, N.J. Along the way she caught pneumonia, requiring treatment that delayed her eye surgery.

The Tess McIntyre Foundation is sponsoring Athena and making a donation to help offset the cost of her pneumonia treatment, cherry eye surgery, and spay. We’re confident that under the care of our partners at Eleventh Hour, Athena will soon be fully healthy and ready to find her forever home.

The Tess McIntyre Foundation is a 501(c)3 charity. 100% of donations made to the foundation goes toward helping abandoned, abused or injured dogs.

Jack is a 1-½ year old Pekingese who was slated for euthanasia due to a severe eye infection. Our partners Home for Good Dog Rescue saved Jack from the kill shelter where they found him in Augusta, Ga.

Jack made a trip to the vet where it was determined that the eye was causing so much pain and discomfort that it needed to be removed. That surgery has taken place and Jack is recovering. He will soon be headed to New Jersey for adoption. His prognosis is excellent and he is expected to lead a full and happy life.

The Tess McIntyre Foundation is sponsoring Jack and has made a donation to cover the cost of his surgery. The foundation is a 501(c)3 charity. One hundred percent of the money donated to the foundation goes to helping dogs like Jack, as we have no administrative or marketing expenses.

Mufassa came to our partners at Southern California Golden Retriever Rescue after being picked up as a stray in Bakersfield. He was thought to have a dislocated shoulder but after vets saw the muscle and tissue damage around the shoulder they determined he would never be able to use his leg again and it was amputated. He is now in a foster home, recovering well and learning to function on three legs. We were happy to be able to make a contribution to offset medical expenses for this 3-year-old Golden mix.

This is one of three Golden Retriever puppies that were found as strays in Marion, S.C. Picked up on the side of a road, they were emaciated with barely any fur left on their bodies.

Nicknamed the Golden Girls by our partners Home for Good Dog Rescue, Liz, Lisa and Erin were covered with demodex mange as well as fleas and ticks. They also had skin infections.

Now at Home for Good’s facility in Aiken, S.C., our contribution is paying for weekly medicated baths, deworming and antibiotics. All three will also be vaccinated and spayed.

Donations to the Tess McIntyre Foundation will help us help more dogs like these three puppies.

We don’t know for sure what happened to Snoop but you can see she’s scared. Snoop was on the euthanasia list at the overcrowded Marion County, S.C., shelter where she was rescued by our partners Home for Good Dogs. They believe she was a failed hunting dog.

Snoop is heartworm positive. We’ll be picking up the tab to treat her.

Willie was rescued from a kill shelter in Swainsboro, Georgia where he was dumped at the senior age of 7 years old. Willie had likely lived his entire life outdoors as he was an extremely strong Heartworm positive upon rescue. In addition to his Heartworm status, he was suffering from severe periodontitis from lack of nutrition throughout his lifetime and poor quality food. Dental surgery was necessary in order to restore his teeth and gum health.

Thanks to the generous support of the Tess McIntyre Foundation we were able to successfully treat Willie’s heartworm disease and he received the dental surgery he so desperately needed.

Despite Willie’s rough beginnings, he is the sweetest most forgiving, and loving soul and today he found the forever family of his dreams. He was such a favorite amongst all of the Home for Good team. Willie will be so spoiled in his new forever home. We wish him and his new adoptive family all the best in this next amazing chapter! 🥹❤️🐾
