💡Looking for a community service project to work on with the kids over the holidays? We have an idea! 💡

LSPCA volunteers feed feral cat colonies all over the area and we are in need of insulated cat houses to help the cats keep warm and get them out of the elements during the winter months. The insulated houses are easy and inexpensive to make. The following video shows the needed items and process to make them. We can use as many feral cat houses as you are willing and able to make because it’s starting to get cold at night. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lpW69fNzcjc

Can you help? 🐈🐈‍⬛💜😇

A few updates we wanted to share ❤️

We sadly have lost 7 out of the 9 parvo babies. 🥺 Two of the pups are still at the vet fighting with everything they have got to overcome this horrible deadly virus. Turkey is doing much better. Eating, happy to see people and no longer vomiting. He will be transferring over to our rescue partner Billies Buddies Animal Rescue soon. He is still at the vet being monitored for respiratory systems and will be reevaluated tmrw morning. Nutmeg is doing better but not out of the woods. She is showing some interest today in eating but is also showing signs of respiratory concerns. She was happy to see me and giving kisses when I visited today. We are cautiously very optimistic that they will pull through this and live on in honor of their siblings. ❤️

Lastly, the last picture shows the doggy who came into the shelter with severe eye injuries on Friday. LSPCA and the shelter work together to vet these babies while they serve stray hold so they don't have to suffer at the shelter. He was able to have his eye removed and is back at the shelter recovering. He will be available for rescue or adoption once his stray hold is up.

Thank you all for your support and making all of this possible. ❣️

We were so busy last week but we didn’t want to miss telling you about the latest transport that took place this past Friday. Duane and Mike were off again with 4 dogs/puppies and 14 cats/kittens. They made their way to Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut to meet their rescues giving these very deserving shelter animals their freedom ride to begin their new lives. Everyone made it safely and our drivers are back home already. Thank you to Duane and Mike, and all of the other volunteers who made this transport possible, for your hard work and dedication to saving so many lives. Most of all thank you to Lancaster Animal Shelter Supporters of SC and all our supporters who donated to our transport program. These transports are so important because they free up the very limited space at the shelter to make room for the new ones that show up every. single. day. Until there are sustainable spay and neuter laws in our county and the influx of animals slows we will be here to save as many as we can.

And then there were two 😩. Turkey and Nutmeg are the final two parvo pups remaining from the Chesterfield 9. Turkey’s symptoms have subsided and he is eating. That is amazing news! Nutmeg is still fighting for her life. Her symptoms have also mostly subsided except she’s still not eating. We are very concerned for her but trying to remain optimistic. Please continue to send them your love and prayers. ❤️ 🙏🏻

Rest in peace and fly high Gobbler, Spice, Cranberry, Apple Cider, Pumpkin, Harvest, and Autumn. Your lives mattered to us. We are so sorry that help came too late for you. 💔🌈

🎉 THANK YOU! 🎉

We are overwhelmed with gratitude for your incredible support during our Give Local campaign this past Friday. Because of YOU, we raised over $18,000 to carry us into the new year and continue our mission to rescue and care for abused, neglected, sick, injured and abandoned animals. 🐾💙

Your generosity fuels the life-saving work we do every day—providing second chances for homeless animals who need a voice. Together, we are making a difference, one paw at a time. 🐶🐱🐾

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for believing in our mission and being the heroes these animals need.

We lost another parvo pup last night 💔. Fly high, little Cranberry. Your life mattered. We are sorry you were failed by humans and help came too late. I'm sure you are playing with your brother Gobbler, who was waiting for you at the rainbow bridge 🌈.

The rest of the Chesterfield 9 pups are not doing well. Please continue to pray for them and donate if you can. Today, you can donate in memory of Cranberry and Gobbler on our Give Local campaign. Donations will help pay for the medical costs for this litter and so many other critical-need animals. Thank you to our village for being there for us so we can be there for them. Donate in their memory at this link - https://www.givelocalsc.org/organizations/lancaster-spca

About Lancaster SPCA (LSPCA) Rescue Organization of South Carolina

Overview

Founded in 2013, Lancaster South Carolina Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (LSPCA) is a nonprofit rescue organization funded entirely through donations from individuals and corporate sponsors. In addition to rescuing the most critical-need animals in our community, LSPCA is committed to providing educational programs in Lancaster schools promoting ethical treatment of animals. LSPCA provides low-cost spay/neuter resources to control the overpopulation of unwanted and discarded pets that fill our shelters. LSPCA is an all-volunteer organization and has no paid staff or shelter facilities. All animals are housed with volunteer fosters.

Our Mission

  • To build a community where people value animals and treat them with respect and kindness.
