Founded in 2013, Lancaster South Carolina Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (LSPCA) is a nonprofit rescue organization funded entirely through donations from individuals and corporate sponsors. In addition to rescuing the most critical-need animals in our community, LSPCA is committed to providing educational programs in Lancaster schools promoting ethical treatment of animals. LSPCA provides low-cost spay/neuter resources to control the overpopulation of unwanted and discarded pets that fill our shelters. LSPCA is an all-volunteer organization and has no paid staff or shelter facilities. All animals are housed with volunteer fosters.
To act as an advocate on behalf of all animals to lend them a voice in the community concerning legislation and protections under the law to ensure those who mistreat, dump, abandon or fail to provide medical care are prosecuted. We strive to eliminate animal cruelty, dog fighting, puppy mills and the like to protect animals from inhumane treatment.
Provide educational school programs to promote the ethical treatment of animals and the importance of spay/neuter.
Promote spay/neuter programs within the community to help control the overpopulation of unwanted and discarded pets to reduce, and ultimately eliminate, euthanasia within our shelters.
Provide services and resources for community residents to assist in the proper care of pets, including low-cost veterinary services, pet food distribution, and animal-care education.
Provide care and fostering for animals who are critical medical cases and those in immediate need or danger.
We strive to work with area shelters and partner with other rescue organizations to develop a network of supporters and volunteers to find loving homes for shelter animals and medical cases that are ready to be adopted.
Service Area
Lancaster SPCA operates in Lancaster County South Carolina and other local areas rescuing abandoned or owner-surrendered animals. Our volunteers work directly with Lancaster County Animal Shelter staff to help find "furever" homes for animals that may otherwise be euthanized.
