Quiz time! Who is this delightful family and where do they live? 🤔

Our IMPA friend…after 1 week of steroids! 😍👍💪💪💪

This is the same dog from the last post...just 48 hrs later! This is a case of immune-mediated polyathritis (IMPA). The dog in question (a 7 year old neutered female) had a 2 week episode of diarrhea, and then developed SEVERE weakness/stiffness and refusal to move. Physical exam revealed multiple joints which were hot, swollen and painful, and a 40 degree fever. X-rays of all the joints were NORMAL. Fluid taken from the joints showed a sterile neutrophilic inflammatory exudate. Because of the association with diarrhea, IMPA type III (enteropathic) was suspected. Treatment was started with dexamethasone, followed by prednisolone...and this was the result, just 2 days later. Absolutely remarkable improvement. These can be super satisfying cases to treat, and keep an eye out for this pattern of gait, it is very suggestive of this condition...
