Our classrooms receive schools on a regular basis. SOS Galgos conducts workshops based on empathy and compassion towards animals.
The children will meet our galgos and experience what life in the shelter is like. The charge is 6 euros per student and the money will be used to contiue to save lives.

ACTUALIZACIÓN DE HAIKU
¿Recordáis al podenco Haiku? Llegó con anemia, leishmania, filaria y perdigones en su cuerpo, consecuencia de vivir en la calle antes de ser rescatado. El pequeño Haiku ha tenido unos días malos ya que ha tenido que someterse a un tratamiento para la filaria que es bastante agresivo. Normalmente la filaria no es tan resistente como en su caso ya que tras varios tratamientos sigue siendo positivo a filaria. Es un chico fuerte y estamos seguro que lo conseguirá. HAIKU UPDATE
Do you remember Haiku our podenco hound survivor? He arrived anemic, leishmania and filaria positive and with pellet bullets in his little body, a consequence of living on the streets before being rescued. Little Haiku has had a few bad days since he underwent quite aggressive to rid him of filaria. Normally filaria is not as resistant as it has been in his case since after several treatments he is still showing positive for filaria. He is a strong boy and we are sure he will get better. Meanwhile, at the shelter there is no shortage of care and pampering from the team and volunteers. If you would like to help him you can also sponsor him through our website www.sosgalgos.org

Hemos tenido la suerte de entrar en contacto con un viticultor que produce vino tinto, blanco y rosado bajo el nombre de El Perro Flaco. La etiqueta lleva el dibujo de un galgo y pegada una pegatina con el logotipo de SOS Galgos. Hemos llegado a un acuerdo con el viticultor para que 2 céntimos de cada botella vendida se conviertan en un donativo. Esto puede no parecer mucho, pero cuando se multiplica por miles de botellas vendidas, se convierte en algo significativo. Tenemos un acuerdo informal de marketing con ellos, por el que os animamos a que les den la máxima publicidad y lo promocionen en sus supermercados locales.
Por favor, pide a tu supermercado local, si aún no tiene el vino, que se implique mostrándoles una foto de la botella y ¡ayúdanos a correr la voz! Pídeles la dirección de correo electrónico de su supermercado y envíanosla a [email protected]. Tu ayuda significa mucho

We have been lucky enough to come into contact with a winegrower who produces red, white and rosé wine under the name of El Perro Flaco. The label has a drawing of a galgo and a sticker with the SOS Galgos logo attached. We have reached an agreement with the winegrower so that 2 cents of each bottle sold becomes a donation. This may not seem like much, but when multiplied by thousands of bottles sold, it becomes significant. We have an informal marketing agreement with them, whereby we encourage you to give them maximum publicity and promote it in your local supermarkets.
Please ask your local supermarket, if they don't already have the wine, to get involved by showing them a photo of the bottle and help us spread the word! Ask them for the email address of their supermarket and send it to us at [email protected]. Your help means a lot

PROTEGE A TU FIEL COMPAÑERO DEL CALOR
Morita busca familia pero no lo tiene facil, tiene 8 años y su pelaje es negro. Pero no pierde la esperanza y mientras espera que alguien se enamore de ella os quiere dar unos consejos.
En estos días de calor extremo debemos ser más precavidos para evitar que el calor tenga efectos negativos en nuestro compañero. Es muy importante que tengan acceso tanto a agua limpia y fresca como a zonas de sombra. Debemos evitar las horas de más sol en los paseos y vigilar que el suelo no queme sus almohadillas.
Si queremos refrescarlos con agua podemos humedecer sus patas y la zona del vientre pero no debemos mojar la parte superior de su pelaje si esta zona va a quedar expuesta al sol, ya que al quedar el agua atrapada entre su piel y el pelo, se produciría un efecto de calentamiento.

PROTECT YOUR LOYAL COMPANION FROM THE HEAT
Morita is looking for a family but it is not easy for her, she is 8 years old and her coat is black colored. But we are hopeful for her and our team take great care of her and her fellow galgo survivors.
In these days of extreme heat we must be more cautious to prevent the heat from having negative effects on our precious survivors. It is very important that they have access to both clean, fresh water and shaded areas. We must avoid the hottest hours of the day on walks and make sure the ground does not burn their pads.
If we want to cool them with water, we can moisten their legs and belly area, but we should not wet the upper part of their fur if it is going to be exposed to the sun, since the water will be trapped between their skin and hair, which would cause a warming effect.

Nos llena de alegría ver cómo los galgos que rescatamos mejoran no solo recuperando peso o sanando heridas sino también emocionalmente. Mora se irá en adopción en unos días pero aún hay muchos galgos sin familia en el refugio, y muchos otros esperando en una residencia que pagamos hasta tener espacio para ellos. ¿Os acordáis de las pequeñas panteras Tom y Petit? Siguen necesitando un hogar. Tina fue adoptada por nuestro veterinario pero estos dos bombones siguen esperando.
Fueron rescatados por ASGAT Cervelló y están siendo cuidados en SOS Galgos. Ambos tienen poco más de un año y como podéis ver en el vídeo, con nuestra querida voluntaria Ruth, son extremadamente cariñosos y afectuosos. También se llevan bien con los perros, así que si tu perro es apto con gatos, busca un hueco en tu corazón, un lugar en tu casa para uno de ellos. ¡Se merecen unas buenas familias!

Remember little panthers Tom and Petit? They are still in need of homes. Tina was adopted our vet but these two are still waiting.
They were rescued by ASGAT Cervelló and being looked after at SOS Galgos’ Rescue facility. They are both just over a year old and as you can see in the video with our dear volunteer Ruth, they are extremely loving and affectionate. They are good with dogs too so if your dog is cat safe, please find it in your heart to give one of these precious souls a place in your home.

Recently 18 rescued galgos and a podenco arrived at SOS Galgos. All of them are rescuee souls that were discarded from the hunting world and after all they have been through are now settling down. Ayer nos visitaron los alumnos del Itinerario Formativo Específico (IFE) en Cuidados de Animales y Espacios Verdes del IES Gabriela Mistral. Compartimos una estupenda mañana con los alumnos que se sintieron muy interesados en conocer el dia a dia de una protectora como la nuestra, dedicada al rescate y a la formación mediante talleres de bienestar animal.

Yesterday students of the Specific Training Inerary (IFE) in Animal Care and Green Spaces from the IES Gabriela Mistral came to visit! It was a great morning during which we got to show them the day-to-day life of a shelter and about the terrible situation in which hunting dogs are treated in Spain. It was great having you guys!
