🩺 Nuestros últimos 6 recién llegados — Yola, Chusa, Trompeta, Lusi, Giovanni y Enzo — ya han pasado por su primera visita veterinaria.
Han sido revisados, vacunados y preparados para comenzar su nueva vida.
Ahora solo les falta lo más importante: una familia que les abra su corazón 💛🐾

Horrific case of 32 dogs mostly galgos, found dead after being abandoned chained. Those who weren’t chained had survived the time they did having eaten decomposed corpses of other dogs. No words..
Apparently the owner is in drug rehab.

The police got there too late. What would have happened anyway?

This is utterly beyond outrageous.

A demonstration is being held today in Madrid organized by Pacma to protest against the treatment upon the vulnerable souls and to the fact that hunting dogs are not only not further protected by the lowest of the lowest in society but instead absolutely excluded from Spain’s animal protection law.

This is a reflection of the reality of the quality of life which galgos and podencos endure in Spain, where cruelty towards bulls, horses, galgos and podencos is normalized by men and women in tightly knit villages and towns all over rural Spain and anyone openly against it is frowned upon and regarded a freak.

It really is a cultural phenomenon and a striking contrast with the vast majority of Spaniards who pamper their dogs and support a whole industry of high range products for pets and fancy collars, beds and pricey dog food. The latter are so detached from the rural communities, it’s almost as if they think it’s made up or a thing of the past.

Meanwhile the tv media air gossip shows about a bullfighter’s love life or have a section on the running of the bulls in Pamplona every morning where children can learn to normalize cruelty too.

What is the long term solution? I truly believe that educating the general public through the media is the key. A mutual fund needs to be created and all charities come together to give shape to an investigative team who can research into where cruelty cases are currently occurring, boots on the ground and expose these to the press to air.

32 perros de caza, la mayoría galgos, han mu**to de hambre en Azuaga (Badajoz), abandonados desde junio. Y no es un caso aislado: es la consecuencia directa de un sistema que protege a los cazadores y abandona a sus víctimas.

Este domingo, 12:00h, en Puerta del Sol (Madrid), únete a la manifestación convocada por
Vamos a gritar contra la impunidad, contra el maltrato, contra las leyes que dejan fuera a los perros de caza y para que se haga justicia.

Si no alzamos la voz, seguirán muriendo en silencio.
Ven. Lucha. Defiéndelos.

Goodbye, Sweet Chico.
It is a sad day. With heavy hearts, we said farewell to one of the most gentle, noble, and beautiful souls we have ever known. Chico was euthanized at our home this afternoon. It was a peaceful passing, and our littlest boy is now at peace, free to roam and sniff, hunt lizards, and run and play at Rainbow Bridge. It is an understatement to say we feel devastated. We will miss him with all our hearts, but we know he no longer suffers from the back, neck and leg pain that was crippling him, or the advancing sarcoma that would have claimed him in the coming weeks. It is tragic that a pup of only four must leave already, but we feel blessed to have had this time to know him and to have shared our home with such a kindhearted, courteous, and brave boy. Chico was an amazing dog. He was so appreciative of his new life, and would wag his whole body to let you know. He learned how to wipe his feet at the door faster than any of our other dogs. He was always eager to please and to be a good boy. Because of this, he was loved by the team of vets and techs at Countryside and at University of Florida that have treated him for his condition over the past four months. He endeared himself to everyone, but to no one more than us, and no one more than his sister Alina, who will miss him dearly. He was such a wonderful brother, and sadly, the second one she has lost in little more than a year. But we are all grateful to have had this chance to give him a home and shower him in all of the comforts of the sweet life he deserved. Rescued from the streets of Barcelona by SOS GALGOS and brought to America thanks to their partners at Greyhounds in Motion, Chico was covered in the physical scars that advertise the hideous life too many Galgos endure, Chico never failed to express his appreciation for being a member of our family. I’m glad he had that opportunity to learn about love, trust, and kindness, and that not all people are monsters. Until we meet again, rest easy Mr. Wiggles.
