Want your business to be the top-listed Pet Store/pet Service?
H.F. HELP, a no-kill, 501(c)3 non-profit rescue, was founded in 1982 by Wes and Mary Collins. Wes, a retired Navy Warrant Officer/BMC2, and Mary, a former Navy LCDR, served our country in WWII, and the Korean and Vietnam wars. Upon retirement, they decided to dedicate their lives to helping animals. The rescue was named after Major Harvey Fine, a German Shepard that Wes befriended while serving in Vietnam. According to Wes, Harvey Fine, a native dog, alerted he and his squad to an oncoming Viet Cong attack on his Navy transport vehicle which allowed the men enough warning to fend off the attack. Overcome with gratitude, Wes rescued Major Harvey Fine and brought him back to Charleston, S.C. where he became the inspiration for the rescue, H.F. HELP (Harvey Fine- Helping Everyone Love Pets).
When Wes passed away in 2001, Mary carried on the shelter’s mission. Near the end of 2014, after a long illness, Mary passed away. Her last wish was for her and Wes’s dream of helping animals be carried on. And it is still operating today. H.F. HELP has grown to an organization that helps hundreds of dogs each year. A highly trained staff of 4 caregivers and group of volunteers work to ensure that every dog that walks through our doors is given the best care and chances of finding it’s forever home.
H.F. HELP NO KILL rescue is dedicated to saving the lives of dogs that are at risk of euthanasia in animal shelters. We can not do any of this without the help of our community.
Thank you.
