Cowtown Friends of Fort Worth Animal Care and Control To better address these needs, Cowtown Friends of FWACC was formed.

Cowtown Friends of FWACC is a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to enriching and enhancing the lives of animals in the care of Fort Worth Animal Care & Control. In 2020, a committed group of Fort Worth Animal Care & Control (FWACC) volunteers recognized that there were certain needs above and beyond what the City of Fort Worth could fund. Cowtown Friends of FWACC is a non-profit organization

run by a volunteer board that is dedicated to enriching and enhancing the lives of animals in the care of FWACC. Thousands of dogs and cats are helped every year and this support is made possible through generous donors and committed volunteers. By raising these critical funds, Cowtown Friends of FWACC contributes to the health and wellbeing of Fort Worth’s homeless animals by funding life changing programs and services. We invite volunteers and the local community to be part of the effort, and if you are already a supporter, thank you for putting the animals first.

The power of social media is truly incredible—it helped Alfred find his forever home!

Senior Alfred was found as a stray on August 21 and, sadly, ended up on the euthanasia list at Fort Worth Animal Care & Control. Fortunately, a dedicated shelter foster, Rochelle Galletta DeGrenier, stepped in and gave him a second chance at life. She reached out to us, asking for help in sharing his story. Earlier this month, Alfred’s post touched the hearts of a wonderful couple, and today, he officially became part of their family.

We are so grateful to the volunteers who saw the goodness in him, his foster who provided a bridge to a brighter future for the past 5 months, and his new family for opening their hearts and home.

From staff:
Both of our shelter locations are struggling with capacity, and we have many wonderful dogs at both shelters that are ready for transport. All of these dogs are people and dog-friendly. We are seeking fosters to help keep their transport tags and spots out of Texas. Ideally, we'd love to have them out of our shelter by today or tomorrow. You can view their details on the Trello board. If you're able to help, please email us at [email protected].

We supply food, treats and toys.

Fort Worth, TX
Just be local to DFW to short term foster.

Your donation dollars help keep Fort Worth Animal Care & Control shelter animals engaged and happy while they wait for their foster or forever home.

update: ADOPTED! 🖤🤎

🎶
The weather outside is frightful,
But Alfred’s so delightful,
Snuggled up in his bed alone,
Dreaming of his forever home!

He’s dog-friendly, sweet, and mellow,
The most cuddly, loving fellow,
At 10 years old, he’s fully grown,
And he’s 50 pounds of love to be shown!

His love is warm and glowing,
And his loyalty keeps on showing,
If you’re ready to make him your own,
He’ll make your house his forever home!
🎶

Meet Alfred (56607414)! He is available for adoption and currently in a foster home through Fort Worth Animal Care & Control so please email [email protected] if you are interested in meeting him!

All puppies are tagged for a 2/1 transport and just need a place to eat, sleep, play till 1/30! Can anyone help so they can get out of Texas and start their life on the best paw forward? Please note that these puppies, like any dog tagged for transport, will *not* be available for adoption.

Ideally, the puppies need to be out of our shelter by today or tomorrow. Must be local to DFW to transport foster. If you're able to help, please email [email protected].

URGENT: Fosters Needed to Save Lives!

Fort Worth Animal Care & Control is over capacity, and is facing heartbreaking decisions if they can't create space. But YOU can be the hero who makes a difference!

Transport fostering is a guaranteed way to save lives. By opening your home temporarily, you give a dog a chance to find their forever family while freeing up critical space in our shelters. Every dog fostered for transport is one less at risk of being left behind.

Transport is a lifeline for these animals. It's ongoing and never-ending-dogs leave for rescue groups and forever homes, and new ones arrive daily. This revolving door is how the shelter manages capacity, but the overwhelming number of intakes means we no longer have room for everyone.

Every dog you foster creates a ripple effect. One life saved leads to many more finding hope. Your commitment is invaluable to us as we need all the help we can get!

Here's how YOU can help:

Provide a temporary home for a transport dog.
Be a critical link in the journey to their forever home.
Help ensure no dog is left behind!

The shelter will supply everything you need-crate, food, supplies, and support. All you provide is love, safety, and a roof over their head.

Don't wait-time is running out! These dogs are counting on us to give them a second chance. Take a look at the Trello Board and staff can match you with the perfect dog!

UPDATE: safe in a foster home 🙌🏼🤍

Parker just needs a one month foster. Poor thing has been at the shelter since SEPTEMBER!!

He has been stuck in the same kennel just patiently waiting & waiting his turn. The shelter has been trying to get him on transport since October & he FINALLY got a golden 🎟! But in order to go he needs out by TODAY (December 27th) because he is now on Urgent Pet Placement due to capacity which means he can euthanized for space!

Can anyone be a HERO and change his fate & keep foster him for just 1 short month until 1/30!!

If you can save Parker’s life by being a short-term foster, please email [email protected]
Parker (55429127) is 1 year old, 41 lbs, neutered male, dog friendly and goes in the play yard with other dogs, very sweet, and enjoys playing with balls!
