Our Gizmo - Fuzzyface puppers

Gizmo lived for an astonishing 18 years and that is a very long time for a pup to be on Earth but he managed it somehow. His pluckiness and his love of naps probably helped. And his love of sniffing and snorting around the grass with his smooshed-in Shih-Tzu face.

He was the first pet we ever had that wasn’t swimming in an aquarium. No offense to fish, but this was an entirely different experience. Here was a tiny little being that ran and played and barked and snuggled right next to you on the couch. His little growls, huffs, snorts, and barks were his entire vocabulary and we grew to understand them as best we could. Like every child, human or animal, he could have his bratty moments and we would all power through them. We loved him dearly and we knew he did the same as all dogs do for the other members of their “pack.” Gizmo was always a “people dog” meaning he didn’t care for other dogs but people large and small he just loved them to no end. He would “belly up” to everyone who encountered him and he would give sloppy doggy kisses if you got close to his poofy, smooshed face. Overall no one could have asked for a greater companion, pet, friend, and member of the family. He, as all of us, is and was unique and none who encountered him will forget him; our family, our friends, and everyone on social media that never met him but saw his pictures and sent their loving approvals.

We want everyone to know that his last moments were filled with love and family just like his entire life was. He was surrounded by the family that loved him most of all and passed away in the arms of his owner. He returned to the universe.

As a final lasting remembrance in physical form, his body will be cremated and his ashes will be made into two little stones, each with an imprint of his paw. More importantly he will live on in our memories and in our pictures, as the happy little fuzzball, which we will continue to share with our family and friends until we all return to the universe with him as we all must.
