We are a 501(c)(3) charity that rescues special needs, chronically ill, medically fragile cats that This cat required immediate medical care. Poppy had attitude!
Our Story:
On October 6, 1995 a Siamese-mix cat arrived at Bonanza Cat Hospital for evaluation after a volunteer feeding strays at a trailer park noticed she had a severe head tilt. Once her lab results showed she was FIV positive (Feline AIDS), this poor kitty was deemed un-adoptable. She would need a lifetime of medical care to assure her immune system would remain stable. Bonanza Cat Hospital
became her new home and she was named Poppy. She delighted in standing on our examining room tables and taking swipes at the staff whenever they passed through. She also began to develop quite a reputation as our "official greeter", casually sauntering out to the clinic waiting room with her tilted head and crooked mouth to "honor" a few lucky people by allowing them to pet her. Several of our clients began donating money towards her care and the cost of her medical needs. Sadly Poppy passed away September 20, 2001. We all loved her dearly and miss her every day. She gave so much enjoyment to so many. In Poppy's honor, the Poppy Foundation was created. Today, the Poppy Foundation provides homes and long term care for special needs, chronically ill, abused and abandoned cats. The Poppy Foundation is a non-profit, volunteer run organization and therefore relies solely on donations to help pay for medical expenses, food, and additional pet care. They are typically not adoptable and are with us for the remainder of their lives. We are dedicated to them all and will love and care for them as long as they roam our halls. Our current visiting hours are Monday and Tuesday from 3:30 - 5pm and Saturday and Sunday from 10am - 2pm. We are currently located at 3915 Helen Ave. Las Vegas, NV 89131.

Savers FunDrives are the purr-fect opportunity to clean out unused items from your closets, cupboards, and garages and support The Poppy Foundation!

Meet Poppy Charming! 👑 This handsome guy has been a Poppy cat since 2018 when he was trapped with his littermates at A Cab Taxi company. This guy is equal parts handsome, playful, clever, and lovable... with just a sprinkle of naughtiness! We love all of his hilarious quirks and how "helpful" he is during meal-times. He takes his job of "Quality Control" very seriously and makes sure to sample each flavor of food before they are dished out 😼
We love Charming's beautiful golden-green eyes, his silky panther fur, and his spunky purr-sonality that never fails to make us smile! 🩷🐾🐈⬛

Here are some tips to keep your furry companions safe today!
🐾 Keep them inside and check that all windows and doors are closed. The loud noises can easily startle pets and cause them to become disoriented and lose their way from home. The safest place for your pets is inside!
🐾 Update their microchip information. You can call your vet or microchip company to make sure the personal information on your pets' chips is current in case they escape your home.
🐾 Provide distractions. Turning on some white noise, classical music, or pet TV videos are a good way to help keep your cats and dogs distracted from any disturbances outside.
🐾 Create a safe space. If you're planning on staying home, it's a great time to create a little den where you can spend time monitoring and snuggling those fuzzy family members and helping them feel safe and secure. Talk to them softly and reassure them that you are ready to give endless love, kisses, and treats!

🐈⬛Jacob was found outside of a gym and brought to the Poppy Foundation when he was about one year old. Now he’s around four or five years old. He’s very healthy and affectionate, but he does like to playfully bite on occasion. Once he makes a new friend, he doesn’t want to let them go. 🐾 Take a closer look, and you’ll see this sweet black and white rescue cat has a little black spot on his nose. Jacob will rub against your leg to let you know that he wants pets. He’s very loving and friendly to people, but he prefers to be the only child in the family. Jacob is adoptable and ready for a forever home. Never underestimate the love and connection that comes from adopting a #poppycat into your home. We Are Collecting in bags: Clothes, coats, shoes, scarves, handbags, wallets, fashion accessories, ties, belts, backpacks, etc. Household Textiles, bedding, comforters, blankets, sheets, towels, linen, tablecloths, curtains, pillows, etc. Small Household Goods, kitchen items such as pots/pans, dishes, silverware, glasses, serving pieces and hand-held appliances, home decorative items, knick-knacks, toys, games, and small electronics. We will be accepting all donations on Friday, April 22nd from 4:30 to 7 pm and Saturday, April 23rd from 10 am to 2 pm. You can bring your donations to The Poppy Foundation (6620 Sky Pointe Dr). The Poppy Foundation is a 501c3 non-profit organization. We do not pay federal taxes, and all donations to us are tax deductible. The organization is run by an all volunteer community of cat lovers & relies solely on donations of food & supplies as well as monetary donations to help pay for medical expenses, housing & veterinary care. The Poppy Foundation is open to the public. Volunteers and visitor are always welcome! Please stop by and pet our cats! They would love to meet you!
