🚨 JUST RESCUED: DOG LEFT CHAINED TO A SHOPPING CART ON THE EXPRESSWAY 🚨
Late last night, we received a heart-wrenching call about a dog chained to a shopping cart on the side of the expressway. He had reportedly been there for hours in the freezing cold. At 1 AM, our incredible volunteers headed out to locate him, and there he was—scared, and trembling in the cart.
We immediately secured him, and he is now safe and warm. However, he may belong to someone, so if you recognize this sweet boy, please reach out with proof of ownership.
He had no collar, no tags, and no microchip. We will be calling him Adonis, and if no owner steps forward, he will need an immediate foster home.
Adonis has already been through so much, and he deserves a loving place to decompress and heal. Can you be the one to give him that chance?

🚨 JUST RESCUED: EMACIATED PITTIE WITH PRESSURE WOUNDS 🚨
Some rescues are just meant to be—and this boy’s story is one of them.
As we sat watching the trap we set for a completely different dog, this skinny, sweet boy came trotting down the road. We immediately noticed how emaciated he was, but as soon as we made some kissing noises and shook our bag of treats, he came RUNNING. With a wagging tail and trusting eyes, he let us slip lead him without hesitation. He is now safe and warm.
We had spotted him five days ago on our first night watching this trap, but he disappeared before we could help him. We feared the worst in the bitter cold, so to see him again today was nothing short of a miracle. 💔
This boy, who we’re calling Valor, is all bones with pressure wounds on his feet, his butt, and other wounds across his body. Despite his condition, he is nothing but pure happiness and gratitude. It was heartbreaking to see him not wanting to get out of our car—terrified we’d dump him back into the cold.
Our shelter is completely full, and we desperately need a foster to give Valor a warm, loving space where he can heal and gain weight.

💔 Tied to Our Porch and Abandoned LEFT TO DIE IN THE COLD 💔
Tonight, after a long day of our team rescuing stray and and doing outreach with chained dogs suffering in the freezing cold, one of our team members came home to a heartbreaking scene: a dog tied to their front porch.
This sweet boy, now named Daddy-O, had been left there in the freezing temperatures, shivering and scared. When we walked up to him, he kept staring at the driveway, likely watching for the car that drove away—the car that belonged to the person he trusted.
We want to say this loud and clear: abandoning your dog is never the answer—especially in this weather. If you can no longer care for your pet, please take them to a shelter or reach out to a rescue. Leaving them outside in freezing temperatures is not only dangerous but could have ended tragically for Daddy-O if we hadn’t found him in time.
Thankfully, Daddy-O is safe now, warm inside, and getting lots of love. But we need your help to give him the care he deserves. We are urgently looking for a foster home for Daddy-O.
Rebel Dogs provides everything you’ll need to foster, including food, medical care, and support. We just need someone to open their heart and home to this deserving boy.
If you can help Daddy-O, please apply to foster today at rebeldogsdetroit.com/becomeafoster.
Let’s give Daddy-O the second chance he deserves. Thank you for helping us help dogs like him. ❤️🩹
🚨 JUST RESCUED! 🚨
This brave boy has been surviving out in the cold for the last two weeks, dodging every attempt to secure him. Multiple groups tried to help, but Dunkin wasn’t ready to trust. That’s when we stepped in.
We rushed over and set up our trap, armed with breakfast sausage (because who can resist that?!). Just 20 minutes later, we saw him trotting around the corner, drawn in by the scent. After a few cautious moments, Dunkin was secured!
💛 The best part? The original finder already had a foster lined up for him! This sweet boy is now safe, warm, and starting his journey to a better life.
Dunkin had no collar, tag, or microchip. He was secured near Seminole and East Warren and is finally off the streets!
Thank you to everyone who helped and cared enough to make sure Dunkin got the second chance he deserves.
we have so many other dogs that need foster’s and adopters! Please apply!

🚨 JUST RESCUED: DOG WITH EMBEDDED COLLAR LIVING IN A SWAMP NEAR AMAZON FACILITY FOR 4+ MONTHS 🚨
This is one of the most challenging and dramatic rescues we’ve ever completed. Many of you have reached out about this girl—a dog spotted living near the old campground by 8 Mile and the Amazon facility. For four long months, she survived in a swamp, hiding in the tall marsh grass, completely emaciated and terrified and injured.
When we first heard about her, it was from a former foster who tried tirelessly for three weeks to gain her trust. But as temperatures dropped, we knew we had to step in and help.
When we first started trying to help we saw that her collar had grown into her neck and it was so tight that it was now embedded, cutting into the skin. Time was of the essence, and we were very concerned- as each time we returned- we saw her head getting more swollen.
We tried to approach with a leash, she bolted, disappearing into the swamp near the Amazon facility. And because of the swampy area she was staying in our normal live traps were not an option.
The Rescue Plan
Pivoting to a new plan - we worked with our vet to obtain sedatives and even planned to use a drone to track her, hoping to secure her once she fell asleep. But just as we arrived on scene, she was standing on the porch of one of the old campground houses. We knew this was our moment.
We moved carefully, blocking her escape routes, and managed to corner her on the porch. She fought hard, panicking and trying to flee, but we refused to give up. Once she was in the car, safe and warm, everything changed. Despite the unimaginable pain she was in, she wagged her tail and gave us all the love she had.
Her Condition
Her neck wound was worse than we thought when we were able to get a closer look. We knew that she must be in serious pain and suffering from infection so we rushed her to the emergency room for surgery to remove the collar that was fully embedded into her neck.
She is sev

🚨 JUST RESCUED: TWO EMACIATED DOGS ON CHAINS 🚨
We were contacted by someone who volunteers with our organization regarding a desperate situation in Detroit. They were searching for a different dog and as they were in the process of doing so, they walked into a backyard and discovered something heartbreaking: 2 dogs, Phantom and Mama, living on chains with almost no shelter, emaciated and in need of immediate help. 💔
They asked us for guidance on how to address this tragic and urgent situation. We helped them contact the proper authorities, but when that didn’t result in immediate confiscation of the dogs- everyone knew that a different route of action needed to be taken.
The volunteer knocked on the door, spoke with the owner, and after some time, was able to obtain an owner surrender.
• Mama: A gentle, resilient girl who has likely endured years of hardship. She’s incredibly sweet and still trusts humans despite everything. Likely around 4 years old.
• Phantom: Mama’s puppy from one of her past litters. He’s full of curiosity and love, ready to embrace the better life ahead of him.
Despite having lived outside for at least a year or more, and nearly being frozen at death’s door, they are both friendly, loving, and deserving of homes where they can finally experience care, warmth, and affection.
💔 The Challenge:
Our shelter is FULL, and we don’t have open space for Phantom and Mama. We need our amazing community to step up and provide foster homes for these two—either together or separately.
🌟 How You Can Help:
• Foster: Open your home to one (or both!) of these incredible dogs. We provide all supplies, medical care, and 24/7 support—you just provide the love.
• Donate: Help cover the medical care these two urgently need.

🚨 JUST RESCUED- WE FINALLY SECURED CHRISTMAS’ PARTNER! 🚨
Do you remember the Mama Dog we were trying to secure when we rescued her partner, Christmas, on Christmas Eve? After three long weeks of searching, she has finally been saved—and not in the way we expected!
Ever since we rescued Christmas, this sweet girl went completely MIA. We were checking our traps several times a day, searching by car, on foot and checking every place we could - we were devastated, fearing the worst, until yesterday early evening, when a miracle happened.
While dropping off donations, one of our fosters spotted her running down the road near our shelter. They pulled over, opened their car door—and to our shock—she jumped right in! It was as if she knew her time on the streets was over. Desperate from the bitter cold over the past few days, she decided she was ready to be safe. We couldn’t believe it.
When the foster FaceTimed us to confirm, we immediately screamed with relief—it was HER! Mama Dog is finally off the streets and will never know that kind of cold and fear again.
Now, she needs your help to start her new life.
💔 We will be calling her Eve and she will need a foster home. Christmas still needs one too. They can go together or be fostered separately.
This reunion has been a long time coming, and we’re beyond grateful to finally have her safe. But their story isn’t over yet. Let’s show them what love and warmth feel like.

🚨 JUST RESCUED - GERMAN SHEPHERD SHOT AND LEFT TO SUFFER 🚨
Late last night, we received a heartbreaking call from Detroit Police. They found an unsecured German Shepherd, shot and left with her arm dangling in a freezing yard as the snow fell. Time was critical, and we immediately rushed to the scene.
What we saw was devastating: this sweet girl, barely more than a puppy, had endured unimaginable pain. We’ve named her Ash, and while her photos are graphic, they show the cruel reality that so many Detroit dogs face every single day.
Ash is now safe at Wilson’s Veterinary Hospital, but her road to recovery will be anything but easy. Her injury is severe and infected. Right now, there are two difficult options on the table:
1️⃣ Amputation, which would prevent further complications from infection.
2️⃣ Attempting to save her leg, which comes with significant risks due to infection and challenges with the hardware needed for repair.
The medical team is running tests to determine the best course of action. What we do know is that Ash deserves every chance we can give her.
💔 Despite the horrific trauma she’s endured, Ash is under a year old and has shown nothing but sweetness and trust toward the staff caring for her. Her resilience and gentle spirit is remarkable and the ER staff is gushing over what a sweetheart she is.
She is safe now. But we need your help to help Ash on her healing Journey.
➡️ Medical care for Ash is going to be extensive and expensive. We cannot give her the fighting chance she needs without your support.
➡️ She will also need an immediate foster home once she’s released from the hospital, where she can recover in safety and comfort.
Ash didn’t choose this life, and she didn’t deserve what happened to her. But together, we can make sure her story has a happy ending.

🚨 JUST RESCUED: DOG WITH HEAVY CHAIN IN THE FREEZING COLD 🚨
Late last night, we received an urgent call from one of our adopters about a terrified dog dragging an extremely heavy chain through their yard. When we rushed over, the dog had already disappeared.
We didn’t give up. After searching through the freezing night, we found her in the backyard of an older couple’s home. Initially, the homeowners were hesitant to believe she was there, but with patience and persistence, we were able to locate and secure her. (They would not allow us to film securing her.)
This sweet girl, now safe, had been dragging the weight of her past—literally and figuratively—with a collar attached to a heavy chain. She has no tag or microchip. Despite everything, her demeanor is gentle and trusting, and we can already see how special she is.
We are calling her Betty, and she needs an immediate foster home where she can warm up, decompress, and begin the next chapter of her life surrounded by love.
