With the loss of Zeus the bunny room (and the house in general) has felt particularly empty. T***s and I never had a particularly close bond. She was Zeus’ (3rd) mate, I was his first. So I’m trying to carve out time to get to know her better and see if she’ll come out of her shell (she’s very timid). One thing I just did was buy her a hay sampler. Zeus stopped eating hay his last year, and with bonded bunnies it can be hard to know which rabbit likes what. So I’m planning to learn. It’s hard to gave multiple pets and feel more connected to one, and lose that one. Lots of complex emotions. But we’re taking things a day at a time.

Today we said goodbye. Almost 11 years together. How do you sum that up? We lived in 5 homes, traveled across the US, went thru a PhD program, navigated various relationships, and then found marriage ❤️ As a baby Zeus had helicopter ears; one up and one down. He binkied often, gave kisses, stomped his feed if he was upset, loved outdoor trips, and would hop on my back if I laid down and he’d eat my hair. His favorite treats were banana, papaya, and mango. Zeus had two bunwives. He was depressed after Kizmet past, so I found him T***s (Calliope)- his companion for most of his life. Zeus was an unofficial therapy bunny for staff at a mental health clinic. He befriended dogs, cats, kittens, children, and foster bunnies. He navigated a bout of ear infections and an ear surgery. I always thought rabbits were fragile animals, yet he has shown me just how tough they are too. He made it 8 months past when the dr projected after his terminal cancer diagnosis. He was more than a pet. He was my Zeus the Goose. He was so loved and he will be so missed. ❤️💔❤️

Not doing great at the moment. Not very interested in food, and very wobbly when I hop around. Mom knows my health has been declining this past year, but I’ve gotten worse this past month. I got extra treats and head rubs tonight. ❤️

Went back to the vet this week. Things still seem somewhat stable. Had to adjust my heart meds a little and I lost a little more weight. But I still got my s***k.
