Happy 1 year Birthday, Litter I!
Yooshin Kennels is a small-scale hobby kennel located in southern California. The primary goal of th Occasional litters of Jindos may be produced.
Currently, our Korean Jindos are registered in AKC-FSS, United Kennel Club, and FCI. They are shown in UKC, rare breed orgs, and local Korean Jindo shows. Dogs will be tested PennHip, OFA Thyroid, and CERF/OFA eyes before being bred.

Some of the veterinary records requirement has gone away, but all pups entering the U.S. still have to be 6 months of age.
In July 2023, the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) proposed new rules to address the public health risk of dog-maintained rabies virus variant (aka, canine rabies) associated with the importation of dogs into the U.S. In addition to issuing multiple calls to action for....

After August 1, 2024, the minimum age to import a puppy from South Korea into the U.S. will be 6 months of age, regardless if personally owned or if a rescue.
Starting on August 1, all dogs entering the U.S. (including those that left the U.S. and are returning, and regardless of the country they are coming from) must be:
• healthy upon arrival
• at least 6 months of age
• microchipped
• accompanied by a CDC Dog Import Form receipt and required vaccination and veterinary documents.
Additional requirements may apply depending on where the dog has been in the last 6 months and whether or not the dog was vaccinated in the United States.
Use CDC’s Q&A tool (the CDC “DogBot”) to determine what rules apply to your dog: https://bit.ly/2rww2bq

Happy 2nd Birthday, Litter G!
The puppy formerly known as Rose girl in her litter and later given the call name Yujin finally went to her new home last week. She joins Yuukitohokori Kennel in Poland, who is an active Jindo & Shiba exhibitor. To my knowledge, they may be the only active FCI Jindo breeder in continental Europe. (The next closest breeder would be in the U.K.)
It is my pleasure to assist the next generation of younger, passionate Jindo fanciers, who have a lot more energy than myself.
With that said, I am hoping to take a personal break from having litters in 2024. I am hoping to resume in 2025. (I reserve the right to change my mind if there is an unexpected need to having a breeding/litter though.)
Three litters in two years may not sound like much to some (or it might sound like too much to others), but with how I am hands-on with my litters while working full-time, it does wear down on not only myself but my household.
Currently, the other two KJAA Jindo breeders in the U.S. are considering having a litter in 2024 if certain logistics work out. I recommend reaching out to them. They are listed on the KJAA website.

I'm late in cross-posting, but this is too adorable to not share.
[I try to be super careful in placing a Jindo with young kids, trying to match the puppy with the right temperament into the home. Gigi is one that was just right for the young family home.]

If anybody would like to meet some of our Jindos, we will be at the Kennel Club of Riverside AKC Open Shows in Lake Perris, CA on October 28-29.
Please send us a PM if you are planning to come.
Percy, the pup formerly known as Lemon Boy, went to his new home today. He'll live with a family with three kids and a cat in MN.

Day 9. Orange girl and the littlest pup, Brown boy, reached the milestone of doubling their birth weights today. The rule of thumb is doubling the birth weights by Day 10.
Every day, I hold each puppy so being handled would not be a shock to them. I make it a point to desensitize them to paw handling so nail trimmings are not a big deal. I introduce my pups to both the clippers and a puppy dremel before they leave me, and they get their nails done every couple of days. Unfortunately, there has been a puppy owner who has claimed on social media that their puppy was first introduced to nail trimmings by them and not me. They probably don't know how hurtful that was to me.
On Day 3, we started Early Scent Introduction with the pups. https://www.avidog.com/early-scent-introduction-for-neonate-puppies/
I'm a little behind in posting, but here is a clip of the Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) that we started on Day 3. Each exercise is supposed to be done for 3-5 seconds, but I do things on the shorter time interval on purpose. More is definitely not better with ENS. https://www.akc.org/expert-advice/dog-breeding/breeder-puppy-socialization-early-neurological-stimulation/ (The green blanket in the background is the Korean blanket JinHo came with when I imported him 10 years ago, so I still use for sentimental reasons even though it's a bit raggedly. )
