With foster homes located in the south suburbs of Chicago, Heather's Foster Dogs, a non-profit corporation, promotes the well being of animals through fostering, adoption & placement services. Meet cutie pie Flip, who is new to the rescue. We were able to pull him from a local crowded animal control & get him into foster care. This playful guy should be available in a few weeks for adoption🩵

🐾ADOPT DYLAN🐾

I’m Dylan a 10 pound, Poodle mix, about 4 to 6 months old. I was surrendered to Heather’s Foster Dogs because my caregiver discovered how much work properly caring for a puppy can be.

I’m doing well on my housetraining, but still need more work. I am crate trained. I love dogs, toys and food. I need to continue my work on socialization.

If you have the time and patience for a puppy, I’m looking for a place to call home.

4 month old , 17lb Spayed Female Pug Mix

Zelda is a happy, playful pup who enjoys playing with her toys & chewing on things.

Since Zelda is just a baby, she needs a home which has the time & patience to devote to her training needs.

Kids over age 8 would be best. Small dog secure fenced yard preferred.

Zelda is up to date on vaccinations for her age, neutered, microchipped & current on heartworm & flea preventatives.

We have an update on our senior Darla🌺
The vet was cautiously optimistic that she could possibly have surgery to have her massive mammary tumors removed to bring her some comfort.
Unfortunately, this morning’s chest X-ray showed it has spread to her lungs, & it would not be safe to do surgery.
We wish that Darla’s former home had taken care of this sooner, she likely would have had a better outcome. Spaying your females eliminates the likelihood of tumors like this, as well as a host of other medical issues, so please make sure to spay & neuter.
Our goal now is to bring her comfort & love during her remaining time. Her foster home will be spoiling her with supportive pain management when needed, home cooked food & lots of sunbathing in the yard. Hospice care is an important part of rescue work & Darla will be very loved. 💕

🌤️ADOPT SKYE🌤️
Meet beautiful Skye! She is a 1.5 year old chihuahua mix who weighs 7 lbs.
Skye is shy and timid and needs some time to warm up to you. Once she trusts you she is a velcro dog. She loves to be near her foster mom especially on her lap or snuggle up to watch TV. She is not a fit for an apartment as she can whine or bark when you leave. She would do best with older kids as she is easily frightened.
She enjoys the other small dogs in her foster home and plays with them .
Skye has a grade 3 heart murmur. She has no symptoms and takes no medications for it at this time
She would do best with a secure fenced yard as she loves to run a few zoomies around the yard .
She is spayed, heartworm negative and on preventative, microchipped and up to date on vaccines.

I’m Chewy, a 2 year old, 14 pound, male Dachshund mix. I’m a super friendly guy looking for someone to adore.

I love big people, little people, big dogs, little dogs, food and toys. What I don’t like is my crate, I whine. I stop after a bit, but I’m LOUD. So just know if I’m in there and can’t see you it’s a 10 to 15 minute session of carrying on.

I need some work on house training but hopefully my recent neuter will help that.

We welcome Darla to the rescue🩵
This senior girl was left in a box not far from one of our veterinary partners. No owner was found despite their efforts. She has substantial lumps & bumps hanging off of her body that need further evaluation. She could be cleared for surgery, or she may be one of our comfort cases, where she will get to live out her days safe & cozy in a loving foster home.
Either way, nobody deserves to be discarded in a box in their old age, so Darla will be getting the love & care she needs. We love our senior dogs💕

🕊️ADOPT DOVE🕊️

Dove is a 13 pound, 2 year old female Chihuahua mix with a bit of Shih Tzu thrown in.

Dove came to us after being picked up by a local animal control as a stray, very pregnant and frightened that no one claimed as their precious girl. She gave birth to 4 beautiful babies in her foster home and was a wonderful Mom. It’s now time for her to find her furever home.

Dove is a total love and the complete definition of velcro dog. So if you don’t want a dog next to you on the furniture or sleeping next to you in your bed, she is not the dog for you. She has no idea as to what personal space is. She definitely adores her people.

Dove gets along with the other small dogs in her foster home. She doesn’t, however, want to share your lap, but a simple correction and she is fine. She’s still learning she needs to share.

Dove would do best in an adult household as she really isn’t into kids. A small dog secure fenced yard is a must for her.

Dove is housetrained, with reminders, and potty pad trained. She is also spayed & up to date on vaccinations as well as current on heartworm and flea prevention.

Dove’s adoption fee is $475.

While 4th of July weekend is a big celebration for people, it can be one of the scariest for pets.

Many pets suffer from anxiety and fear with the loud noises fireworks bring which can cause them to shake, hide, pant, or even bolt. Please make sure pets ID tags and microchips are up to date in case of bolting. This is also the holiday with the highest record of missing pets. There are many great supplements and medications that can safely be given to pets to help with the fear. Talk to your veterinarian. This time of year doesn't have to be so scary!

Also, be mindful of keeping doors and gates secure if having guests over and let your pet be a "party pooper" and keep them inside.

We will be here for your pets urgent care needs:

Spay/Neuter Clinic Wednesday
Last patient checked in 30 minutes prior to closing.

Brand new to the rescue:
Dylan (black pup/ poodle mix)- just surrendered to us at 6 months old for being too much work. (Yes, puppies are work!)
And
Chewy (tan pup, possible Doxie/Yorkie?)- an unclaimed stray, around 3ish, who is rambunctious & fun loving.

These two cuties will be receiving vet care, grooming, & the guidance previous owners didn’t have time for! Look for them to be available in the coming weeks.

Selene is up to date on vaccinations for her age, spayed, microchipped & current on heartworm & flea preventatives.

Selene’s adoption fee is $550.

One of our longtime supporters and fellow animal rescuer, Andrea, created this piece to touch the hearts of animal rescuers and lovers everywhere. She generously donated two of her original reduction linoleum prints, and we are raffling off $10 chances to win!

This beautiful print is a reduction linoleum print, in a limited edition of 20 made. Each color is printed, then areas remaining that color are cut away. They can’t be reproduced when the block is fully cut, only the black line remains. It is on heavy art paper, 19 x 28 size and hand signed by the artist. (Your print will not have a watermark.)

We recently heard a story about someone who- despite a “no pets allowed” policy on their lease, went out & bought a large breed puppy anyway & thought it would “be okay”. Now a rescue/shelter will have to scramble to try & find a spot for this pup.
Please check with your landlord first before getting a pet, & please respect their rules if they say “no pets”, it can save so much disappointment in the future.
