Melody, Nyx, Zephyr, and Auster at Home We have four rescue animals, a dog named Melody and three cats named Nyx, Zephyr, and Auster.

The purpose of this page is to share information about our rescue animals. Melody is a redbone coonhound mix, Luna is a grey tabby cat, and Nyx is a miserly black tortoiseshell cat.

Melody had her stitches removed today. She is doing great! She has a large shaved patch on her chest, and we are going to get cold here this week, so I'm going to get her a sweater.

Last month, my middle child moved into an apartment at school and took Luna along. This past week, I adopted two 4 month old kittens. They are very sweet and full of energy! They are both white. Zephyr has blue eyes and is deaf. Auster has amber eyes and we are pretty sure he is not deaf. We were told that he was, so we are watching closely to see how much he can hear.

Zephyr has no fear and has been exploring the house and getting to know Melody. Auster is more skittish. He is keeping his distance from Melody and Nyx, but has started to cautiously explore a bit. Melody isn't sure what to think, especially when Zephyr curls up with her for a nap. Nyx avoids the new kittens and makes unhappy noises when they get too close. Hopefully she will settle down sooner rather than later.

We got a new van this week. Melody approves!
