Inner City Strays We’re a group of compassionate cat lovers who are making a difference to the lives of Sydney street cats. Responsible Rehoming Organization number: R251000250

Inner City Strays, Inc is a not-for-profit incorporated association and charity comprising of a team of dedicated, passionate volunteers. Our work involves reducing stray numbers by rescuing young kittens and cats from various places around the inner city area of Sydney. We provide them with health checks and necessary veterinary treatments, foster and socialise them, before adopting them out to g

ood homes through respected agencies or veterinary practices. Currently there is an unknown number of cats living on the streets of Sydney that are constantly at risk of being hit by cars and suffer from untreated disease or injury. These cats form colonies which may comprise of just a few felines to quite a large number. Through no fault of their own they are often persecuted by residents, members of the public, local businesses or various government departments that refuse to see them as a living, sentient animal. As we are all volunteers we would love the the support of cat lovers who want to see life-affirming programs implemented. We need tangible contributions; money, volunteers, cat food, foster carers, as well as community legal, veterinary and local business support. We support the internationally recognised ‘Five Freedoms’ of animal welfare:

Freedom from hunger and thirst
Freedom from discomfort
Freedom from pain, injury or disease
Freedom to express normal behaviour
Freedom from fear and distress

As we work on the frontline we can see that as a society we should be taking proactive steps to prevent further suffering & offer care. Our dedicated team makes the lives of these street cats so much better.

Meet Pearl and Pirate - a bonded pair.

These two sweet and confident newcomers were brought to a vet clinic after being found on the streets. These adorable siblings are ready to take on the world with their bold personalities and loving hearts.

Pirate & Pearl are yin & yang. Pirate, the high energy kitten & Pearl is the calming one. Pirate is the big brother who looks after her. She calms him down & the peace activist. It's just a perfect pair!

Everyone’s been waiting to see , and here he is!

Pickles is a gentle, affectionate soul who absolutely adores children. Whether it’s joining in for story time, curling up during playtime, or just being their loyal companion, Pickles thrives in the company of kids. His soft purrs and playful charm make him the perfect furry friend to bring endless joy to young hearts.

But his kindness doesn’t stop there—Pickles has a special love for kittens, too! He’s patient, nurturing, and always happy to share his space and his heart with the little ones.

Though he occasionally drags his left leg, our vets have confirmed there’s no muscular or bone damage. To ensure his safety and comfort, we’re looking for a home without stairs.

Pickles is ready to bring love, laughter, and cuddles to his forever family. Could it be yours?

🩷 From Abandonment to Affection: A Journey to a Loving Home.

Remember that sad story of the kitty dumped in a bag? Well… we have a heartwarming update!

Introducing Esme and her new foster carer to the Inner City Strays family.

We are over the paws that Esme is in a safe and loving home. It's amazing how she’s already forming connections with her new family, especially with her new little sister. The next few weeks are about settling Esme, getting to know her personality, desexing, and super slow introductions to the other cat to bond with. Sounds like she’s going to have a beautiful life ahead.

Esme will be available for adoption soon, but priority is having her settled with no more big changes in her life. She deserves all the love and care after everything she’s been through. Her new foster family just love her, and she is such a sweet kitty. We are excited for her future.

Meet Mila, a beautiful young cat with a heart full of resilience. Found pregnant on the streets, she raised her kittens with love and care, and now it’s her turn to find a safe, loving home.

Mila is a playful sweetheart who adores her toys and enjoys your attention, though she isn’t a fan of being held. Over time, she’s started to accept gentle affection, but her independent spirit shines through. We often say she has the soul of a dog with how much she loves dedicated playtime!

She’s a sensitive girl who gets scared by new people or loud storms, a reminder of the hardships she’s faced. Mila needs a calm, patient home where she can feel safe and loved as she continues to heal.

🔴 URGENT FOSTER CARER - Kitty dumped in a bag! 🔴

Another sad one that will break your heart, but we want to give her a second chance. This gorgeous kitty was dumped at a vet in a hessian bag (limited air)! Vet was horrified but got her in time...phew.

Miss Kitty is about 8 months young and having health checks today but no sign of any visible health issues. Vet got her in time and reached out to us.. She is now safe with a belly fully and waiting for that second chance. That face of hers.. she needs us. 🥲

Can you help with fostering? If yet an ICS Foster Carer, an application form will be required and some checks, but if an existing carer has space in your home and your massive heart, please reach out.

Just look at this handsome face! This is Vincenzo.

Vincenzo and his brother, Alfonso have grown up side by side, filling their days with playful antics and endless energy. By day, they’re curious explorers, and by night, they love chasing each other around and keeping each other entertained.

Vincenzo loves exploring, especially racing up and down the stairs in his foster home. His playful energy shines through, and he’s even been known to slide down the stair rail with a mischievous twinkle in his eye.

Despite his playful side, Vincenzo also has a gentle heart. He loves the children in his foster family and patiently joins in their games, always ready to bring a smile.

Ms Austin (affectionately called Angie) has been waiting longer than any other cat at ICS for her chance at happiness. She’s been with ICS longer than any other kitty!

While countless others have come and gone, finding their forever homes, she remains behind, quietly watching as her dream of a family slips further away.

Perhaps it’s because she doesn’t demand the spotlight or leap into strangers’ arms. Angie is an independent girl with a gentle soul, content to sit by your side rather than in it. She’s affectionate in her own way, offering quiet companionship and the occasional loving nuzzle. But in a world where the bold and boisterous are often chosen first, she continues to be overlooked.

Gloria is missing. Have you seen her?

Gloria is an ex street cat, semi-social, happily living (and safe) in a backyard and about to be brought inside to further socialise as becoming more friendly. We feel the wind or other noises have scared her. She is a sweet gal but will be scared.

Female 2 years old, microchipped and registered.

Missing from Marrickville (Petersham Road/Livingstone Road) area but could have been spooked and ran further.

Gloria has an ear tip (showing she's desexed) and unusual mottled colouring.

Meet Biscuit!

Biscuit, a sweet ginger mum, was rescued from a rural pound who had no room!

Despite their rough start, the kittens are now doing great and Biscuit will soon be looking for her forever home. Biscuit is the most loving, affectionate and human orientated cat you will find. She is recovering from a small bout of ringworm but otherwise super healthy.

Meet Lucy our resilient kitten with a heart full of courage. As a baby, Lucy suffered a severe leg injury that impacted her radial nerve. Though her leg won’t regain full function, she doesn’t let it slow her down. Lucy runs, jumps, and plays like any other kitten, spreading joy wherever she goes. Vets are happy with her progress, and for now, amputation isn’t needed. Her future may include surgery if complications like arthritis or ulcers arise. Lucy will need an indoor-only home with soft, cozy spaces to keep her leg safe and comfortable. To Denny’s amazing foster carer—words can’t express how grateful we are for your kindness and generosity in giving him a chance to feel safe and loved again.
