Henderson NC

STATUS: Rescued!

Ruby
Female, hound, 1 year old
Dog Friendly: yes
HW status: positive
Hold is up: 1/10/24

Ruby is such a sweet girl who smiles when she's happy. She's very adventurous and had so much fun running in the yard. She's on the thinner side and could use some groceries.

Ruby is at the Vance County Shelter. We are the networking group for the shelter. Their hold is up 1/10/24 and is in danger of being euthanized any time if the
shelter is over capacity.

All adoptions are handled directly by the Vance County shelter. If you are a 501c3 rescue interested in pulling
him/her, email us at [email protected]

UPDATE: Kahlua is safely at a foster home (YAY). But we are short on homes...there is always another dog around the corner in need! Thank you everyone...

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Kahlua needs help! He is stuck in a TN shelter and needs out (the shelter is full) but we can’t find a foster home for him. Without a home we can’t save him ☹ This guy is gorgeous, 2 years old, healthy and we can’t figure out why he hasn’t been scooped up. If you can foster Kahlua, please contact the TN State Coordinator, Mandy, at [email protected]

If you are not currently a foster volunteer, please complete our foster volunteer application at https://www.segsprescue.org/volunteer-application-655644.html

Reminder: SEGSP can arrange transportation and pays for all pre-approved vet expenses. Our foster volunteers cover food, a safe place to live and lots of TLC.

WE NEED FOSTER HOMES! These two GSPs have been in a NC shelter since Jun 6th - almost a month. The shelter has reached out to us for help, and we desperately want to, however, we don't have any available foster homes. If you can help foster either Blake or Luke, please contact your state coordinator (contact info found at https://www.segsprescue.org/about-981227.html).

Blake and Luke will be neutered once in rescue (SEGSP pays for all pre-approved vet expenses). They are both heartworm negative (yay), are both people and dog friendly (however, no small children under 6 yo), both are under 40 lbs., and we believe they are about 2-4 years old.

If you can help these boys leave the shelter and enter rescue, i.e., offer to foster one or both of them, please contact us. Thank you!

Lenny and Bruce are looking for a foster or forever home. They do not have to start together, both boys are great with other dogs and will be fine if they have a dog companion. Lenny and Bruce are 1 year old, neutered, fully vetted and microchipped. They were found in deplorable conditions in Corpus Christi and nursed back to health by the Texas Weimaraner rescue. The boys are a bit shy, but very sweet. They are housebroken and crate trained. Please consider one of the boys for your family.

We are so happy to report that Asa has found his forever home. Thank you so much to everyone who reached out and shared our posts, it’s so appreciated!

Hello Braebrook family!
I’m helping with the placement of a seven year old male GSP who’s owner has unexpectedly passed away. Asa is registered, docked and dewclaws removed, housebroken, crate trained, great with other dogs (more on the submissive side), great with kids, knows basic obedience and is eager to please. He would do well on a diet and exercise program with his new family as he’s carrying some extra weight, but this could easily be done with some regular runs and a bit less kibble.
If you or someone you know might be interested in this sweet boy please send us a message and we can share a little more information. Located on Vancouver Island.
Please feel free to share this post. 🐶

We received a message from the Gillespie family searching for their baby:

“Please help Bring Luke’s dog home. Gunner is our first family pet and we’ve had him since he was six weeks old. Luke asked for a gsp for years and we were finally able to get one. Our tears have fallen like this rain we are having. Our hearts are broken. We are offering a $500 no questions asked reward. He’s our family pet and even our two-year-old daughter is asking where’s Gunner. He’s brown and liver mixed. He does not have his tail docked. He’s our friendly ball of joy and we can’t even sleep at night hoping he will come scratch at the door wanting to come inside. It was even hard to sing at church this morning because every song seemed to talk about a miracle, and we are hoping for one in Gunner. There’s nothing like a boy and his dog and we are crying out to make this happen!

He lives In the Gold Creek subdivision off of Hwy 136 in Dawsonville, GA”

Please call 910-271-5215 if you have information.

URGENT – Foster homes needed! We need a foster home for Olaf (without any other dogs) and two senior retired hunting GSPs in Alabama (healthy; will need adjustment to indoor living; will be euthanized if we can't find foster homes).

Olaf (currently in NC) is being returned to rescue after his family got a new job, needs to move and can’t bring Olaf. All other NC intakes are on hold until Olaf is placed. Olaf needs to be the only dog in the home, but he is leash, house trained and know basic commands. He is also recall trained. Olaf is 8 years old and UTD on vaccines and neutered. He would make a good travel partner this summer as he loves the outdoors. If you know of someone who is looking for an only dog who loves to hike, travel, camp, please reach out.

The 2 senior ex-hunting GSPs are in Alabama, are 10 and 11 years old, healthy but will need to be neutered (SEGSP pays for all pre-approved vet expenses). They hunted in pairs and were well trained and cared for. If we can not find foster homes, they will be euthanized.

If you are not currently a foster volunteer, please complete a foster application at
https://www.segsprescue.org/volunteer-application-655644.html and if you are a new foster volunteer and need a home visit, please contact your state’s coordinators (found at https://www.segsprescue.org/about-981227.html) to let us know you are interested. We can arrange transport as well.

Thank you!

Harper (MS, 6 yo) has not had ONE applicant interested in adopting her! ☹ But that’s not getting her down. She’s still the happy, little (42 lbs.), loving girl she’s been since coming to rescue.

Our guess is this is the happiest she’s ever been in her entire life. No doubt she was only used for breeding (probably in a cement kennel) and now she’s free to be an inside family member with humans that will love her for the rest of her life. She’s truly a turnkey GSP!

If you’re interested in learning more about Harper, please email her foster dad Art, whose email link is at the bottom of her page at https://www.segsprescue.org/mississippi
