When my daughter and I adopted a small white horse from a rescue, we knew our dreams had come true. We are happy to combine creativity and a love of horses to provide fun pony fashion that also functions as fund-raising for the rescue group that helped us realize our dream. was founded in 2008 by Executive Director, Maya Proulx, and is a foster based all-breed rescue located in Central Virginia. H
orses come to Hope’s Legacy for all manners of reasons, including abuse and neglect. But not all rescue horses are such extreme cases. In these hard economic times, many kind and loving people are forced to give up their beloved friends. The idea of using auctions and on-line classifieds to rehome a horse can be terrifying with gruesome images of horse-slaughter looming over each well-intentioned owner’s head. It is with much relief that distressed owners can call upon organizations such as Hope’s Legacy to take in and foster perfectly healthy horses that need a lay-over before finding their next home. While the emaciated and harmed horses get the most attention, even the ones that just need a new home require proper care in their transient state. Hope’s Legacy provides that security and peace of mind for both the owners who can no longer keep their horses and the animals entrusted to them. It is a huge under-taking that requires a deep love and respect of living beings, the guts and strength to weather through the heart-break and tears, and the financial backing to help keep it going. A portion of every sale through Dream Pony Couture will be donated to Hope’s Legacy Equine Rescue (unless an item is designated for another rescue organization). All remaining proceeds will be used to fund my daughter’s Dare to Dream.
