Thank you to Timothy Sweat, Attorney Marcy Lahart and Attorney Greg Elder. Shame on Shannon Barnett of MARGATE in Broward County Florida who kept his dog after knowing the circumstances would get her sued. Shameful.

This gentleman was assaulted a few months ago by someone trying to steal his dog. He was taken to the emergency room and the dog taken to Broward County Animal Care. Broward County Animal Care had a duty to hold this dog for the crime victim. Instead, Emily Wood, Director of Broward Animal Care put this crime victim's dog up for adoption and then wiped her hands. Wood refuses to take most lost dogs in, then when she does she allows an unlawful adoption to take place. This screams of incompetence but is unprofessional and unkind. Yet another lawsuit filed because of Wood.

In this case the crime victim filed a WRIT OF REPLEVIN. The followers on this page have heard me say that phrase since 2016. A writ of replevin is a demand for your property to be returned. So when someone finds and keeps your dog or cat, you should call the police and then file a writ of replevin. I've uploaded the court documents to give you an idea of what it looks like.

The SPCA Tampa Bay caved/changed their mind. Martha should be tested for drugs or fired. Her thinking that it is a great idea to support puppy mills is bananas. This type of thinking is not what the SPCA needs. She needs to be fired.

Interesting group, i70 Corridor Lost & Found Pets, Eastern CO.

No microchip this time, just knowledge of the rollover crash in Limon, Colorado. The group kept searching for free for the lost dog named Radar. Ultimately finding him a month later and 20 to 25 miles away from the accident. They paid a private driver to drive him to Florida and reunite Radar with his Dad, Tyler Goldsmith. Gotta love those happy endings and people who want to reunite a lost dog with their family.

A Florida dog is back home safe after a wild adventure on Coloradoโ€™s Eastern Plains.

Some good news out of Miami-Dade Animal Services

"Our goal is to get them out of that space if they're feeling anxious or frustrated, getting them out, letting them express normal behavior, burn mental and physical, give mental and physical stimulation, then in turn once they get back to their kennel they feel more relaxed hopefully presenting more adoptable," Caldwell said

While the dogs are playing the staff is watching them carefully to learn more about their personalities and traits.

From Lost Pets of the Finger Lakes

"Please do not assume that a lost dog has been abused, neglected, abandoned, or dumped. They are often anxious or shy and are on the run due to a traumatic event which has heightened their state of fearfulness. MANY lost dogs are hand or head shy since puppyhood, normally nervous and timid, and wary of strangers but finders often assume that they are abused and neglected because they duck away or flinch from their approaching hand.

Please don't judge an owner by the disheveled appearance of a panicked dog on the run. Dogs on the run can become a matted, filthy, mess picking up fleas, ticks, and internal parasites in no time at all. Many are in-between groomings. Sensitive or reactive dogs may have longer nails which are impossible to trim at home requiring a veterinarians assistance.

Do not assume that a lost dog who is thin has been starved by their owner! Dogs on the run who cannot find reliable food sources can loose a 1lb per day! Recently rescued and senior dogs with underlying health issues may have difficulty gaining or keeping weight on. They may have been emaciated prior to rescue, be on a special diet, and under veterinary supervision! Many breeds are naturally lean when they are not overfed.

We often hear that a lost dog is wary of men. This is NORMAL for many dogs and does not mean that the dog has been abused by a man. Chances are that they just need time to warm up to new people.

Most often there is a frantic, heartbroken family out there unable to sleep or eat because their world has been turned inside out. They may not be on social media, may not have the ability to make and distribute flyers, or even know that they have a dog control officer to call! We see these situations every single day. Do not assume that someone is not out looking for their baby.

Always, report a found dog to your local dog control agency which is required by law. Finders can also help by putting up flyers of the found dog to reach families that are not on social media and who don't know to call dog control! If you suspect abuse or neglect, always report it to your local dog control agency and law enforcement and let them investigate. By not doing so, you could be causing a loving family to endure unnecessary heartache and grief, be charged with theft, or be allowing abuse and neglect to continue with the next pet.

Many lost dogs don't need a NEW home, they need to GO home."

๐Ÿ“ข๐Ÿ“ขANYONE THINKING OF PURCHASING A MICROCHIP SCANNER

Inexpensive scanners from Walmart, Ali, Amazon WILL NOT scan all chips and that means a pet may not make it home.

Please read if you are considering purchasing a scanner. Do not waste your money or worse tell someone a found pet isn't chipped because you bought a scanner that isn't universal.

Not all microchips and scanners are โ€œuniversal.โ€
Microchips in the United States operate on one of three frequencies: 125 kHz, 128 kHz, and 134.2 kHz.

Some manufacturers provide microchips in more than one of these types:

* The 125 kHz is the oldest U.S. frequency and is still distributed by AVID, and HomeAgain.
* The 128 kHz is the rarest frequency and has only been distributed by the AKC.
* The 134.2 kHz is the ISO International Standard chip, which is the frequency that Europe, Canada, Japan, and most parts of the world are already using and that the U.S. is slowly moving towards.

Most U.S. suppliers now provide ISO standard 134.2 kHz microchips, including Datamars, ResQ, HomeAgain, AKC, 24PetWatch, Bayer, and 911 Pet Chip.

A universal scanner must pick up all three frequencies. This is where people tend to get confused.

Some shelters and vets assume that if their scanner picks up three different brands of microchips, it is universal. However, as you can tell from the above, some brands are on the same chip frequency, and some make several different types of microchips.

So unless the scanner picks up all three frequencies (the 125, 128, and 134.2), it is NOT universal. And unfortunately, many organizations are unknowingly still using non-universal scanners, which means they are missing chips and, therefore, unable to reunite lost pets with their families.

19/07/2023

The animal rescue community in Miami Dade and all throughout South Florida was horrified this past weekend to learn that Bronwyn Stanford, Director of Miami Dade Animal Services, was removed and placed on administrative leave and suspended from all her duties indefinitely.

For years, Miami Dade County has been referred to as "๐†๐ซ๐จ๐ฎ๐ง๐ ๐™๐ž๐ซ๐จ" for deplorable animal welfare issues. After outcries from the public about poor leadership at Animal Services, County leaders listened and got it right when they hired Bronwyn Stanford. We are asking that they listen once again.

Bronwyn Stanford has done amazing work for Miami Dade Animal Services and removing her is a huge step backwards.
In the animal shelter and rescue community it is rare to see individuals and groups stand united in their support of an Animal Shelter Director. It is almost never the case. Yet here we are, asking you to listen to our voices once again.

Hiring Bronwyn Stanford was the best thing Miami Dade County has ever done for animals and it was a huge step in the right direction.

She has done a highly commendable and excellent job under exceedingly difficult circumstances, where pet abandonment and animal shelter overpopulation has reached crisis levels post-Covid. In the end, what matters most is the care, safety, and management of our swelling, out-of-control abandoned animal population โ€“ and we are confident the best person to continue to lead that effort is Director Bronwyn Stanford.
Under Bronwyn's leadership, these are just a few of her major achievements that have made Miami Dade Animal Services an improved place for animals in the eyes of the public, staff, volunteers, and rescue partners:

โ€ข Effectively opened lines of communication in ways that have never been available before. She has hired key people to function as liaisons between the public and the staff, creating more effective outcomes from the programs.

โ€ข Welcomes community feedback, ideas, opinions. She is very inclusive, responsive, and willing to collaborate closely with the community. Her empathy and leadership skills inspire a happy and positive team spirit among employees and volunteers.

โ€ข Created Kittens ROCK (Rehoming Our Community Kittens) which allows for pulling kittens off TNVR carts and not ear tipping them. This is so they can go to adoption outlets instead of going back to the streets.

โ€ข Created a new position called the TNVR coordinator. Customer service has improved and processing time for trappers at the receiving area has been reduced. Urgent and time sensitive community trapping requests are addressed quickly.

โ€ข Created another Foster Coordinator position to ensure that neonates were not euthanized. Prior to the new director, they euthanized 2,000 plus neonates a month. Now they get them all out to fosters unless they are too sick.

โ€ข Created CATTI Trappers no-tip Tuesday and Wednesday so kittens and stray adoptables would not have to go back to the streets. Trapper rescuers can now process and vet them for adoption, locally and out of state.

โ€ข Increased TNVR numbers and understands how critical TNVR Expansion is for our communities.

โ€ข Created the Community Cat Center (CCC) for much needed TNVR in South Dade.

In addition to her work to create a safer space for abandoned, abused and lost animals, Bronwyn is known for fostering inclusivity, healthy communication and relationships which leads people to feel heard for the first time in years.

This is a county with a multitude of problems, where animals have no voice and often end up as victims. Your decision to place Bronwyn on administrative leave appears to be threatening all the goodwill, trust, and progress she has made and this makes the county a far more dangerous place for all animals. Let's not go backwards.

Please reinstate Bronwyn Stanford now, before hundreds of animals lose their lives because of this decision. Her leadership has become known as a progressive establishment and has earned the respect of the majority in the rescue community. This is exactly what you want in a Director.

Any outcome other than the restoration of Bronwyn Stanford to her position, rewards the wrong people and denies residents and staff the outstanding leadership and positive decision making demonstrated by Stanford.

We are inviting city officials to work with us, not against us and once again listen to us.

We Stand with Bronwyn.

We are also asking the residents of Miami Dade County and beyond to come together and stand behind Bronwyn Stanford, Director of Miami Dade Animal Services.

After signing this petition, please send your personal comments to Mayor Levine-Cava, County Commissioners, and the County Attorney.

Keep your pets inside on the 4th of July. It's not cute, they don't want to be outside and they are scared of fireworks. If you don't have a microchip in your pet and can confirm it was registered, you are playing with fire. It usually has an unhappy ending.

๐ŸšฉWARNING
If you receive a text asking for a Google verification code, this is a scam.
If someone requests money, gift cards, bitcoin, etc., this is likely a scam.

๐ŸšฉRECOGNIZING THE LOST PET SCAM

1. They demand you wire them money first. They may request payment by Western Union, Money Gram, cashierโ€™s check, money order, escrow service, Bitcoin, etc. You can safely assume that anyone who asks you to pay them in this manner (in this context) is a scammer.

2. They wonโ€™t meet in person. They pretend to be unable or refuse to meet you face-to-face before initiating the transaction.

3. They will meet, but find an excuse why you should pay them before actually seeing the animal. They may offer to meet you at a public location to return your pet and collect the reward you have offered. When you get there, they may tell you your pet is in their car and will go get him for you as soon as you pay the reward. Once they have the money, they will disappear.

๐Ÿ’š๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿฑ Congratulations to my animal warrior friend lee for being given a Pawsitively Good Award.๐Ÿ’š๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿฑ She has been a TNR cat trapper for over 10 years and made a huge impact in the lives of more than 5,000 cats!! She also loves all animals and helps all of them. I'm so proud of her and grateful for her sacrifices. She literally does this constantly and I don't know when or if she sleeps. I'm happy she was recognized for her endless commitment and volunteer work in the cat community in South Florida. She is a shining example of how to properly help animals and be successful at it. She really is that amazing. Love you Nadia!!! ๐Ÿ’š๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿฑ

Incredible and I love this. Drones are the future when it comes to lost pets. Nothing will ever replace an old fashioned BIG 'lost pet' sign and social media. But using a drone to locate missing or lost animals is definitely a tool for the toolbox. This is working smarter, not harder to find your lost pets. Keep any eye on this company.

Harley escaped and went missing for two days without any sightings. Upon arrival, we quickly deployed our thermal drone and found her within minutes. She was ...

Oregano ๐ŸŒฟ is back home! ๐Ÿก ๐Ÿˆโ€โฌ› ๐Ÿฅณ

The owner only had this beautiful Bengal for two days before she escaped. We were called out to search the next night, and we eventually found a large dark colored cat in a patch of woods only a few hundred feet away but we could not get to her.

We needed to come back during the day in order to continue the search, but we had class all week for our thermography certification.

Thankfully, putting out scent items and smelly food all week led Oregano to come home all on her own! ๐Ÿฅฐ

A new use of technology to find lost animals! Found By Drone is based in Jacksonville a small company we should watch. It's 2023 and using cutting edge technology and tools like this is just smart and can be effective. Everyone needs to microchip their animals and register the chips. Using wifi/live gps tracking collars should be next.

After searching 3,000+ acres over seven days, we finally found Sisu!Huge shoutout to everyone in the SilverLeaf community who helped by reporting sightings. ...

DO YOU RECOGNIZE THIS WOMAN? Another finder playing finders keepers with a lost dog.

She was last seen in the area of Western Miami Dade County. Tamiami area of SW 147th Avenue and SW 8th Street. She has possession of a lost dog and didn't report him or look for his family. Once she learned he had an owner she left fake contact info. She drives an older model green SUV with chipped paint and has a handicapped parking tag on her vehicle. Call Kathryn at the number on the flyer!

This is a very valuable story to share! Thank you Virginia Alonso Dieppa for wisely questioning what she witnessed and Jacob Horning for sharing the lesson. Wow.

Many people automatically assume every lost animal is dumped and that just isnโ€™t true. Here we have an eye witness to an actual dumping that was smart enough to still question it. So even when a โ€˜dumpโ€™ is witnessed it should be questioned!!! Neighbors can get their hands on lost animals and vindictive exes or just people who donโ€™t like animals can dump a lost animal. Question everything. Well done and many thanks.

From Jacob Horning:

โ€œThor will be going back home to his owner. My friend Virginia Alonso Dieppa just got done feeding her colony of cats for the night when she seen someone drop a cat of a window of a moving car. The cat was stunned and was just frozen in fear. She took the cat home and scanned the cat for a chip and to both of our surprise this cat had a microchip. We contacted the owner and she wanted the cat back!!! The owner has even made a lost flyer and put them up in the neighborhood. Now this is a major prime example of "Think lost not dumped" this cat has been through hell and back and we are happy this kitty had a great endingโ€

๐Ÿ›‘LOST DOG found in Hialeah or Miami in Miami Dade County rehomed unlawfully. ๐Ÿ›‘

This female dog was found on December 27, 2022.
Area is likely "E" 12th and 37th Ave Hialeah. Finder said she was very well taken care of and then gave her away.

She is golden / orange/ brown and golden retriever and labrador mix. She was given away today. I do not believe this dog was reported to MDAS as being found or placed on Pawboost or NextDoor. If you live in the area can you help?

*If this is your lost dog please file a theft report and pursue criminal charges. We will also provide a list of lawyers who will sue the finder for doing this. Rehoming lost dogs is unlawful.

Do you know your pet's microchip ID number?

If your pet gets lost and you don't know the microchip #, that's trouble. Go find the chip # now and save it with your social security card #. It is that important. Then run the chip # in the link posted in the comments below. If you don't see a company listed, the chip is blank. If you see a company listed, call them now. Make sure they have your correct contact information.

Up-to-date ID Parties mean doors getting opened a lot. Even if you have thoughtfully hung a sign on your bedroom door saying โ€˜Do Not Openโ€™, or if you have your pets safely contained in a crate inside the bedroom, accidents happen. Think LOST, not dumped. Think LOVED, not abused.

Thank you to Gina Nicole Vlasek, Saving Sage Animal Rescue Foundation and Miami Shores Police Department. We love seeing these happy reunions. All the above are one of the people and rescues who ALWAYS reports lost dogs that are found.

No matter what the situation looks like (this dog was found with a "rope collar", dirty etc...) there can be an explanation and this still could be a lost dog that is a very much loved. Never assume a dog is dumped when you didn't see it happen. No one is a mind reader and it is always just guessing and speculation. In this case it was someone else, not the owner, who used a "rope collar" to contain the dog. The dog's owner had been looking desperately for THREE WEEKS!! This reunion is because Gina and Saving Sage did the right thing and connected with the owner.

Reunited on Christmas! ๐ŸŽ„๐ŸŽโค๏ธ
The senior Golden has been reunited with his Daddy. This old guy had been missing for three weeks. His Dad who had him since he was eight weeks old was frantically looking for him. We were very happy to have played a part in keeping this old guys safe and helping him find his way back to his Dad. Merry Christmas everyone

MICROCHIP YOUR PETS and ACTIVATE THE CHIP.

"We are really encouraging everyone to microchip, microchip, microchip...The most important thing that Kinsey did was keep her contact information on Lily's microchip updated every time it changed. Over the six-year span, she got a new phone number, a new address, and she updated the chip information each time โ€” just in case.

"If it wasn't for the chip, no, I never would have found her because I had done everything you could do without a chip," said Kinsey.

That's the best way to get your animal identified without a collar or tags that may get lost or stolen or removed," said Larson. "The most important thing though with those microchips is that the information stays up to date."

Looking at the 13-year-old cat, Lily, now, she purrs loudly and gladly accepts belly rubs and treats from her owner Jessica Kinsey of West Sacramento. You'd have no idea she

Seems like another case of finders keepers that crossed state borders. This again shows the power of microchipping and registering the chip. When county shelters do their job of "taking lost dogs" in, reunions happen. Unlike the incompetent Director of Broward County Animal Care, other shelters like Orange County Animal Services actually do their job and care.

"My message to everybody is to chip your dog. And I knew as soon as she went to a vet that I would get the call that I would be waiting for for seven years," Smith said. "I always wondered if she was alive, I always wondered if she was happy, if she was feeling well, and she's not now, but we will get her better."

๐Ÿ”ฅ SOUTHWEST RANCHES - LOST MALE DOG - GREAT DANE ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Zeus the Great Dane went missing from Southwest Ranches on Monday 11/14/22 after 6:30pm. Mysteriously there have been no sightings of this extra large dog. No sightings at all. He was in the custody of i Heart Animal Rescue and "Rock Ranch Rescue" at SW 188th Ave and SW 51st Manor. The dog was originally stolen from Miami Dade on Friday 11/11/22 by a spiteful neighbor who illegally gave the dog to i Heart Animal Rescue. Anyone who finds Zeus and plays Finders Keepers might face felony criminal charges.
