Sockito
Some people went for a walk in Fuente de Piedra and found Sockito under a tree on a very hot day. They gave him water and when they came back he was still there. He could have been dumped? so they took him home even though they could not keep him and they contacted me to see if I could take care of him, so we shifted things around at the kennels and took him in. He is not chipped, can see all his ribs and a very friendly small dog.

Julio
The wonderful Julio. About 4 years old
This sweetheart with his beautiful eyes has been waiting for so long. He doesn’t understand why and already saw a lot of dogs leave and every time he thought it was his turn but unfortunately.
Julio is a friendly big softy who loves to be with you. He likes to learn and happy when he is rewarded for it. He is doing his very best to master the basic commands.

UPDATE.
Here are the 10 pups that were dumped in the well, now washed and dried and will soon have 1st puppy vaccs.
First 5 are males other 5 are females
THEIR STORY:
These 10 pups are about 8-10 weeks old and look like from 2 different litters. They were found a just inside a water well where the pump system was and they were all huddled up together. Unfortunately there were 11 but one fell into the uncovered well and drowned, you can see floating in the last pic.
I took them to my shelter this morning. they were smelly, dirty and slightly frightened, but after a while, most started to show signs of friendliness. 1st pic is of them arriving in the cages. They are all being cleaned up and fed and you will see in picture 4 that they were already playing with toys.

Each pup will get a health check, followed by worming and when they have settled what will follow is: 3 lots of puppy vaccinations, rabies vaccinations, chip and passport and we hope we can eventually find them a forever home?

These 4 dogs are overlooked because they have Leishmaniasis. They have had the initial expensive treatment done and are now on just a couple of tablets per day at a cost of only 6.00€ per month. These dogs are full of life, friendly and lead a normal life. Don't let the word Leishmaniasis put you off from adopting a great family member.

POPPY

Ariel born 2013
She came under our care because of a bad home situation with three other dogs. All four have good characters by nature. The poor dogs are victims and urgently need a new home.
We vaccinated them, got new passports and they all had a general health check at the vet.
Because we had no place in our shelter, the dogs were placed in boarding kennels for two weeks. But of course this could not last. We have made room in our shelter, put the quarantine kennel into use (and hope it is not necessary for another emergency)
It’s important that we find a new home for these dogs or foster families as soon as possible until they are adopted.
We know from experience how difficult it is to place an adult dog. Most people like to adopt a puppy at first. Even though we offer the highest possible and best care in the shelter, an own home for the dogs is of course the best.
Ariel is micro-chipped and has her EU-passport and could already travel to her new home.

Simone born 2015
When she came from care to the shelter at the age of 1.5, she had to learn a lot. She did not trust anyone and watched us anxious. But thanks to all the attention we gave her, this frightened, shy girl turned into a wonderful, sweet, affectionate dog who loves to learn. Within a short time she learned that people were not scary, that a leash was not a punishment, but that it meant a nice walk. Playing with other dogs was fun and crazy about cookies.
This girl is now a spontaneous, cheerful and playful dog that likes everyone. She enjoys the walks with the volunteers and has stolen their hearts.

Noah born 2017
Found wandering in the countryside with a younger puppy. Pup was adopted and we took Noah along. He is a lovely and gentle lad. A nice addition to any family. He is castrated and ready to travel.

Daphne spent 5 years chained to a tree. She had a fear of humans, since then know she has come to realise not all people mean her harm she is starting to interact and seeks human touch. She has been vaccinated chipped and has her own passport. Could you offer Daphne a loving home? Ideally with another more confident dog and time to help her trust.

Roxi born 2010
Roxi was in a home with another two dogs and unfortunately things went bad for the family, their son had and accident, they were struggling to pay the rent and had to move to a small apartment and could only take the smallest dog. Roxi would suit a home where she is on her own or with another male. She needs the love of a family rather than being in the shelter.
