I once saw an exhibitor with a squeaky real fur mouse at a local dog show. My Butter adored it and played with it until we had to give it back, soggy and chewed, to its rightful owner. So I hunted high and low for this mouse. Nobody made or sold real fur mice anymore. So I began trying to find professionally tanned fur that was ethically sourced. I found a company in England that produced just tha

t! The English Rabbit Fur Company (also available on Etsy) are incredibly dedicated in their search for ethical fur that are a genuine by-product of the meat industry from top quality farms. Well I bought some furs, toyed with some designs, and made a mouse. Bragged about it to some friends on Facebook and before I knew it everybody else wanted one. Through my friends, different designs and noises and colours came about until we have what is available today. I'm always open to new or custom designs. To date I've made mice for an owl, gun dogs, a big snake shaped mouse, and many more. Myshka's Toy Box mice are meant for you and your pet to enjoy together. It is the responsibility of the pet owner to decide if the toy is appropriate for the pet. Always supervise your pet during play. Our mice are strong but not indestructible and are susceptible to chew damage. Please check regularly for wear and tear and discard or replace as necessary. Our mice may contain small parts that can be a choking hazard (i.e squeaks and rattles). Not suitable for children.

I’ve made a short survey, 3 questions, to help decide what colour dyed furs to order to make fancy things for Crufts. Dyed fur is about 3x the cost of natural tanned fur so input on my investment is welcome.

I’m looking to offer some kind of click and collect for Crufts as I appreciate it’s stressful if you’re showing so now is your chance to tell me what you want.

I asked Delilah for help but she said she couldn’t cause she’s a mermaid. I don’t even know, can’t get the staff.

The secret to my valerian toys vs others: it’s only valerian in mine. The most common valerian toy out there is the little rectangle on zooplus, it is 30% valerian inside and the rest spelt. Booo

Because I’ve had supplier issues before I now order a sample pouch from a few different places, smelliest wins, in case you’re wondering I’ve currently got a couple kilos from Hilton Herbs. Very reasonably priced, incredibly noxious.

Store your valerian toys in Tupperware!!! I ship in a little biodegradable baggie but any kind of glass or plastic vessel will contain the smell for playtime only.

I love that she says I pack with care 😬 ngl I throw orders together at 6am before I go gym because that just works for me. Care = half awake and I’m gonna take that as a win!

I, too, wish shipping was cheaper. So let’s break it down.

Royal Mail charges me £2.75 for tracked 48, it’s no longer worth sending anything less than tracked and I’m pretty sure it’s not any cheaper.

Then Etsy charges me £0.04 for the privilege of them processing the shipping portion of the transaction(we are ignoring the 6.5% transaction fee for the entire order for this)

Bulk buy shipping labels cost about £0.01 per label. Give or take as the first few are always unusable on the roll but let’s just call it a penny. We are also ignoring the original outlay of a fancy label printer.

The cheapest high gsm C5 envelopes I can find are £0.04, when you get into the boxes etc they are definitely not that cheap, can’t use plastic for many many reasons.

Disclaimer leaflet no one reads costs £0.01

So we have 10p in materials.

That leaves me 15p for my time to pick and pack the order and get it to the postbox or take a total loss of 30p now to have it collected from home.

But I don’t really have that 15p because that was eaten up in Etsy’s fees.

Say I paid the babysitter £12.50 an hour to pack orders, he’s not the fastest but I bet a simple order would take him 2 minutes so 40p and then someone still has to get it into the mail network!

So yes, I wish shipping was cheaper too, but with the way of the world it just isn’t. I’m certainly not funding my champagne lifestyle on c. 15p an order.

Can anyone just stop and think before they speak? Wonderful review besides, it’s not like I’m charging £6.95 + VAT for shipping!
