Cat scratcher or cat scratcher?
Sheen has always been very selective on what cats he actually likes. Pretty much only liking Ali. We put him on anxiety medication a couple months ago due to him over grooming himself and some redirected anxiety/aggression towards Sailor. I'm so glad we did it because it has helped him tremendously, he stopped over grooming and has started interacting with the other cats more and stopped picking on Sailor. The other morning I looked over to find this!
2 minutes of giving Mazikeen treats, she recently started booping them when I try to hand them to her. She used to just back away and stay back until I dropped them. Her little owl head tilt is so cute!
Kovu doesn't bark to go out but will come up and hop at me very cutely to get his point across. I'm hoping we can get the yard fully fenced in this year to the dogs can go out not on a tie out. For now they have a zip line that gives the quite a bit of room.
She's not ready for me to try interacting with her when she's out yet.
Mazikeen came out of hiding while I was in the room with her! This is a giant breakthrough for her. With her feeling more comfortable with us around hopefully we can start getting some videos of her interacting with the other cats as well. I'm so proud of her.
The meowing in the background is Pickles screaming at me for having the audacity to have the door shut with him on the other side.
These baby guppies are a couple weeks old now and doing well.
Mazikeen poked her head out to look at me while I used the bathroom, so I tried to get a video of it. I got this instead.
Not my personal critters, but check out these pollinators enjoying our milkweed patch. I've not seen any Monarchs yet this year but we should be getting some before too much longer. I will then collect some eggs to raise indoors.
Orange is the New Black Death or just 'Death' got to enjoy a bit of Queen Ann's Lacy the other day. Queen Ann's lace is wild carrot and we have quite a big patch in our yard. While him rubbing his chin on it looks like he is getting a good scratch in it's actually a bunnies way of marking something as theirs. Either way it's cute!
When you want the squish bed but your sister won't give it up. Siblings of all species fight over the best spots.
Make sure your ghost detection cat stays alert, you never know where or when there might be lurking ghosts.
*Don't mind the messy floor, human children play here*
Kovu was very determined to get this toy.
Mazikeen certainly makes her own fun at night.
Sailor has been here since September of 2021, he was taken in as an injured feral cat. He had been coming along on trusting me and wanting pets very nicely but then in December of 2022 he tested positive for Bartonella and had to take a daily antibiotic by mouth for a month straight. That really hurt our relationship since he hates being restrained. He stopped trusting me even coming near him for a while and especially didn't trust me bending down towards him for a very long time. I've been slowly working on building that trust back up and the last couple months it's really started paying off and he will allow me to bend down to pet him again and actually lean into it. There is still a ways to go as he never comes up to be pet and does still get nervous at the start of the petting session but I'm so happy with the progress.
Life with a feral cat you are working on taming.
She did indeed need help and came to me right after I stopped the recording and continued to play with the bag sortly after I took it off her. Spot Pickles at the end popping his head out from beside the couch as always concerned about his sisters life choices.
