All in the life of Duncan, the German Shepherd Dog. He's a GSD rescued from a shelter in CA by Miracle GSD and SMGSR.
Duncan and Aayla went up north this past weekend. The ride up was quite enjoyable. Aayla was interested in what was happening outside and Duncan fell asleep on her. Duncan was also a big show off in his wheels at a birthday pawty across the street.

Emma has been providing Duncan with daily brainwork and entertainment by teaching him and Aayla new skills. This one is flop. He is also learning sit up.
We took Duncan up north last weekend and he had a good time. He took a few forest walks and visited a few friends.

This song is literally the most played in our house! No joke! 🐶🐕🐾 Good Morning from Duncan, Aayla and Tammy aka Mama. It’s a rainy morning here in Michigan but that won’t stop our fun. Duncan started his morning off with some shenanigans. He doesn’t like the rain and he has no problem letting me know as I’m trying to convince him to get up to go out to potty. He just rolls over for tummy rubs. 🙄😂🤣 Of course who can resist this dramatic-filled cutie pie 🥰. We got outside though and phew did someone need to ti**le. And now we eat!!
We took Duncan and Aayla downtown to the boardwalk on Sunday. Duncan did an excellent job scooting around in his hot wheels. Everyone was cheering him on. It was so encouraging and heartwarming! We met Lucy, a beautiful tripod. She was super sweet to Duncan. Aayla was being a little overprotective of her big brother so we had to let have some space. She wants to make sure no one messes with her bruther. ❤️❤️

Learning to walk again is truly hard work. Duncan is at least 13 years older but he’s not letting his age hold him back. Duncan is truly our Miracle GSD #78 🐾❤️ Duncan is sporting his new Eddie's Wheels for Pets.
Duncan took his wheels out for a spin again today. He went a bit longer today. For being as inactive as he’s been the past 6 months this is incredible strides. He was definitely wore our and we’re being extra careful not to overdo and watch for his cues when he needs to stop. He’s definitely using his right hind leg.

Duncan dog gone done it! Woohoo. This is going to be a new learning curve. He was exhausted today after trying out his new wheels on Wednesday. We’ll get him back in it tomorrow. So far pretty good!! Woof! Duncan here enjoying Sunday afternoon getting acupuncture with Dr. Hooser at Wilson Veterinary Hospital. We love our care here but it’s hard to see the families that are saying farewell to the beloved furbabies crossing rainbow bridge. 🌈🐾💙 Duncan met Mikey the Labrador who he liked very much. We’re wishing him well. ❤️🩹
Pupdate: Well we did a couple of little things. 1 - Acupuncture isn’t just for Duncan. Aayla definitely has some arthritis and we thought she might benefit from the same treatment that has aided Duncan. Honestly, she just has to have everything that Duncan gets. Lol Jelly much Aayla?
2 - Duncan does not like water! 💦 He never really did just ask Auntie Kristen from Miracle GSD of SWMichigan. He eventually came to tolerate it due to his love for Orange Squishies (chuck it balls) and paw-pressure from his fursiblings. 😂 We have realized that Duncan immensely dislikes water therapy. He’s simply too strong (a good thing) and stubborn to get to participate. We also don’t want to discourage his progress. So we are finally do the next best step. Duncan was fitted for his wheel cart!! I cannot even express the excitement that I feel getting him in this cart. I truly believe this is what will strengthen his hind legs, restore increased mobility, and independence once again for our sweet boy Duncan Punkin. It literally brings tears of joy watching the success of other doggies regaining their mobility on Eddies Wheels. Yes we opted for the best cart that will give Duncan the best quality of life and opportunity to strengthen his legs. He’s ready to be up on all fours. Just not in a water tank. We’ll continue acupuncture as well as massage and laser therapies if needed.
Double prizes today! We ordered a wagon for Duncan and it arrived today. It just what he needed along with his vitamin B shot and acupuncture. Duncan seems a lot more alert and perky. He enjoyed his ride. There will be lots more of those to come.

Y’all I’m sorry for not posting a pupdate sooner. I’ll be honest it’s been busy and Facebook is usually the last place I end up. Mom here. We absolutely spend as much time caring for and loving on Duncan and Aayla. As the weather has improved we’ve been getting outside more. Duncan seems to be feeling a bit down lately. We’re hoping to address that at acupuncture on Friday with our favorite veterinarian, Dr. Hooser. Y’all she’s the best! We have been concerned with UTIs among other things but bloodwork appears to be normal. Duncan just seems a little less than him old self. He was very stubborn at his last water therapy session and refused to participate as you can see in the pictures. Duncan’s been having some accidents which we thinkis due to less activity. Emma and I have been giving him golf cart rides which he just loves. I ordered a wagon so we’ll be taking walks soon too. We’re determined to get him in a wheelie too. All we need to do is get measurements and order. He’s ready! We think that will help perk him up for sure.
Duncan is really doing pawsitively amazing in water therapy. He had his second session on Thursday. He walked 3 minutes the first round and did two more round. For not walking in over 100 days on his own that’s pawesome! He’s never been a fan of the water but he’s doing it anyway.
Aww Duncan this brings happy tears to my eyes. He couldn’t stand for his entire breakfast but it was so pawesome to see him have some normalcy. He was even able to make a good poopy squat with assistance afterwards. Y’all it’s the little things!!! 🤎🐾🥰🐾 I have said it before, Duncan is the poster dog for resilience. If this old dog can overcome the many challenges in life that he’s face so can we. He’s such a happy loving and silly dog. I’m so glad he rescued us!!
Duncan started water therapy today. He has a long way to go but certainly has made progress. I will post a video in the comments.
Last Friday at Duncan’s acupuncture visit he was just as happy as can be. He really enjoys the ride over to Romeo and snores all the way home. Duncan generally sleep the rest of the day but that means it’s working Friday Dr. H have Duncan Vitamin K shots too! Yum! He seems overall to be doing very well. Dr Emily, the PT, sais it’s time to start at home exercises. Duncan does NOT like doing those things. He makes an immediate beeline for his bed. He’s a very strong and stubborn boy but that’s a good thing. She’s going to put him on the waiting list for water therapy but he goes to the top when it’s time. He’s definitely a candidate for a wheelie but both vets recommended pt and wt first to rebuild strength. They want him using that right leg for sure and hopefully the left.
Took Duncan outside this beautiful sunny morning and decided to let him bask in the sunshine. Duncan thought he’d take himself for a drag which is the best!! He’s been unsure of doing it because he’s normally the bull in the china shop. My knees can attest to that. 😂 We’re super excited and proud of Duncan. He’s the perfect example of resilience. Duncan is on FIRE ☄️🧡
