Friends of Eden Animal Rescue Saving shelter animals through networking. We are independent and network the animals to save lives. We are not employees of the county's shelter. PER DOG

2. Ord.

WHO WE ARE:

We are a 501c3 non-profit dedicated to saving shelter animals in the City of Eden and Rockingham County through networking with other rescues and potential adopters. Hopefully our work will help reduce the number of animals that are euthanized each year. NO NEGATIVITY OR PROFANITY:

This page is dedicated to saving animals and bringing awareness through networking. All negative po

sts or profanity will be deleted, no exceptions. We are here to save animals and will not tolerate any negativity. MISSION:

We provide support for the abandoned, lost or stray animals inside the City of Eden or animals that find themselves at the Rockingham County Animal Shelter. We will rescue from the shelter and using social media we network the animals for exposure to an owner seeking their lost pet, potential rescue organizations and adopters and to help raise money for the animal’s care. DESCRIPTION:

We are a group of volunteers who all work full-time jobs. We network on a daily basis to promote and help to save the animals that come into the Rockingham County Animal Shelter located at 250 Cherokee Camp Road in Reidsville. Animals picked up by the City of Eden's Animal Control officer within the city limits are now brought to this facility. The hold time is minimal, so the more sharing of their pictures and information, the better the chance of an owner reclaim or adoption or rescue. INFORMATION ON HOW TO SUPPORT US:
DONATIONS:

Donations can be made with a credit card through Paypal at [email protected]

Your kind donation is appreciated.

1. Your tax deductible contribution will help save a life by covering pull fees, vet costs, support of temporary fosters and to support transport to rescue.

2. Contributions are not refundable.

3. If you would like to sponsor the pull fee for a specific animal, please let us know.
$100 = Full Sponsorship - covers vetting costs for one animal (all vaccines, heartworm check, de-worming, tick and flea treatment).

If you would like to donate towards our new location you can go to Paypal and enter [email protected]

HOW TO RECLAIM YOUR PET FROM THE COUNTY ANIMAL SHELTER:

City of Eden Animal Control Hours M - F 8:00 to 5:00 p.m. An Eden Animal Control Officer does work Part-time on weekends. Office is closed on weekends and holidays.

1. For an owner to reclaim their animal, usually a dog or cat that has been picked up for running at large the fee is as follows:

$65.00 for impoundment
to be paid to the City of Eden. There will also be fees paid to the Rockingham County Animal Shelter and they include: $25.00 Redemption Fee to reclaim your animal, $12.00/day boarding fee, $10.00 rabies vaccination. PER DOG. For bite quarantines the fee is $16.00 a day (for 10 days).

3. Also, the owner may be charged criminally for allowing their pets to run at large. If convicted in court, this would mean paying additional money for court costs and penalty fees. The Rockingham County Animal Shelter is located at 250 Cherokee Camp Road in Reidsville. When a dog or cat in the City of Eden goes missing, contact the Rockingham County Animal Shelter as soon as possible to reclaim your dog or cat. The phone number to the County Shelter is: 336-394-0074. If your dog or cat is not at the county's shelter, then contact the Rockingham County Humane Society or the Friends of Eden - dogs and cats can travel some distance or a well meaning citizen who finds them could take them to the one of these organizations to keep them safe. If you call the county's shelter, do not ASSUME that your missing dog or cat is NOT located in the shelter, even if you are told they are not there. There have been many times when people have made phone calls inquiring about their missing dog/cat and have been told that their pet is not located in the shelter. So, our advice to you is to make the trip over to the shelter to see if your dog or cat is located there for yourself. Also - keep in mind that it is important to have a collar with contact information on your dog at all times AND a rabies tag. You would be surprised how many dogs are picked up not wearing collars, ID tags or rabies tags. That makes it a lot easier for Animal Control to find YOU so your dog or cat can be returned.

§ 3 1 RUNNING AT LARGE PROHIBITED. It shall be unlawful for any person to permit any animal or fowl under his control to run at large in the city except as permitted elsewhere in this chapter. ('89 Code, § 3-1) Penalty, see § 3-91 et seq.

§ 3 7 COMPLIANCE WITH RABIES LAW. (A) The failure of an owner to comply with any law of the state relating to the control of rabies shall constitute a violation of this section. Specifically, but not to be construed as a limitation hereof, it shall be unlawful for an owner to fail to have each dog or cat owned by him vaccinated against rabies as required by such state law and to procure the metal tag issued upon such vaccination. Such tag shall be referred to in this chapter as the metal rabies tag. (B) It shall be unlawful for any owner to fail to provide each dog or cat owned by him which is required by state law to be vaccinated against rabies with a collar or harness to which a currently valid metal rabies tag is securely attached. (C) It shall be unlawful for any person to place or cause or allow to be placed on any dog or cat a metal rabies tag other than such tag duly issued with respect to such dog or cat. ('89 Code, § 3-7) (Am. passed 9-21-10) Penalty, see § 3-91 et seq. Statutory reference:

Help Us Organize to Help Those in Need!

Tippy and Friends' Pet Pantry is undergoing a cleanup and reorganization to better support pet families in need. To achieve this, we're seeking donations of Rubbermaid totes to compile and label items, making them easier to find.

Your donation will help us:

- Efficiently store and manage pet food and supplies
- Quickly identify and distribute items to those in need
- Better serve our community's pets and their families

If you have new or gently used Rubbermaid totes to donate, please let us know! We appreciate your support in helping us help others.

Thank you for your kindness!

Physical health
Mental stimulation

Friends of Eden Animal Rescue - Cat Sanctuary Update

Since Q3 2023, our sanctuary has been bustling with activity, taking in over 30 kittens, including a litter of 4 born right here. These small steps are crucial in reducing pet overpopulation in Rockingham County, NC. While we can't take in every cat, we're doing everything we can with the resources available to us—money, hands, food, utilities, transportation, and more.

We invest hundreds of dollars in each kitten, ensuring they are healthy, spayed or neutered, and up-to-date on rabies vaccinations.

Potential adopters must complete an application, including a vet reference check and a home check, to ensure these beauties find their forever homes and never end up needing rehoming or back on the streets.

Send good vibes for a successful 2025! Your donations to our efforts are always appreciated. 🐾💕

Thank you for your continued support!

A Heartwarming Story of Pet Love and Resilience

Friends of Eden Animal Rescue is honored to have assisted a remarkable family in need of pet food and supplies. This devoted couple, who recently faced a series of unimaginable challenges, refused to abandon their beloved pets.

After the wife's auto accident and subsequent shoulder replacement surgery, her husband lost his job. This was not their first test of resilience; a few years ago, the wife bravely battled cancer, and they suffered a devastating house fire.

Despite these hardships, when faced with the ultimatum of surrendering their six dogs and two cats to the pound, this incredible couple chose instead to rent a U-Haul truck and live in it with their pets at a truck stop until they could find a new home.

Their love and dedication to their pets, who the wife credits with helping her through cancer treatment, is a true inspiration.

As we welcome the new year, we're filled with joy knowing we could provide support to this remarkable family. We wish them a speedy recovery and a brighter future.

If you're facing similar challenges, please don't hesitate to reach out. We're here to help.

Happy New Year to this amazing family, and to all the animal lovers who make our work possible!
