Friends of Eden Animal Rescue is a volunteer-driven nonprofit saving and supporting local cats and dogs through rescue, rehabilitation, adoption, spay/neuter efforts, and community programs that keep pets safe, healthy, and in loving homes. WHO WE ARE:
We are a 501c3 non-profit dedicated to saving shelter animals in the City of Eden and Rockingham County through networking with other rescues an
d potential adopters. NO NEGATIVITY OR PROFANITY:
This page is dedicated to saving animals and bringing awareness through networking. All negative posts or profanity will be deleted, no exceptions. We are here to save animals and will not tolerate any negativity. MISSION:
We provide support for the abandoned, lost or stray animals inside the City of Eden or animals that find themselves at the Rockingham County Animal Shelter. We will rescue from the shelter and using social media we network the animals for exposure to an owner seeking their lost pet, potential rescue organizations and adopters and to help raise money for the animal’s care. DESCRIPTION:
We are a group of volunteers who all work full-time jobs. We network on a daily basis to promote and help to save the animals that come into the Rockingham County Animal Shelter located at 250 Cherokee Camp Road in Reidsville. Animals picked up by the City of Eden's Animal Control officer within the city limits are now brought to this facility. The hold time is minimal, so the more sharing of their pictures and information, the better the chance of an owner reclaim or adoption or rescue. We are not employees of the county's shelter. HOW TO RECLAIM YOUR PET FROM THE COUNTY ANIMAL SHELTER:
City of Eden Animal Control Hours M - F 8:00 to 5:00 p.m. An Eden Animal Control Officer does work Part-time on weekends. Office is closed on weekends and holidays.
1. For an owner to reclaim their animal, usually a dog or cat that has been picked up for running at large the fee is as follows:
$65.00 for impoundment
to be paid to the City of Eden. There will also be fees paid to the Rockingham County Animal Shelter and they include: $25.00 Redemption Fee to reclaim your animal, $12.00/day boarding fee, $10.00 rabies vaccination. PER DOG. For bite quarantines the fee is $16.00 a day (for 10 days).
3. Also, the owner may be charged criminally for allowing their pets to run at large. If convicted in court, this would mean paying additional money for court costs and penalty fees. The Rockingham County Animal Shelter is located at 250 Cherokee Camp Road in Reidsville. When a dog or cat in the City of Eden goes missing, contact the Rockingham County Animal Shelter as soon as possible to reclaim your dog or cat. The phone number to the County Shelter is: 336-394-0074. If your dog or cat is not at the county's shelter, then contact the Rockingham County Humane Society or the Friends of Eden - dogs and cats can travel some distance or a well meaning citizen who finds them could take them to the one of these organizations to keep them safe. If you call the county's shelter, do not ASSUME that your missing dog or cat is NOT located in the shelter, even if you are told they are not there. There have been many times when people have made phone calls inquiring about their missing dog/cat and have been told that their pet is not located in the shelter. So, our advice to you is to make the trip over to the shelter to see if your dog or cat is located there for yourself. Also - keep in mind that it is important to have a collar with contact information on your dog at all times AND a rabies tag. You would be surprised how many dogs are picked up not wearing collars, ID tags or rabies tags. That makes it a lot easier for Animal Control to find YOU so your dog or cat can be returned.
