I know I've been quiet here. Just life you know? But I'd love to kick start conversation by asking the question, "What horse or other animal touched you like no other?" I always refer to this horse, Scout, as my soul mate in horse form. I've had more animals in my life than I can count, but he SAW me. It truly was like our hearts were part of each other's. Post a picture if you have one and a short synopsis of them if you'd like. :)

Reading to Horses by Julie Bradshaw reads Day 7 of Transurfing Reality in 78 days. The title of today's principle is The Illusory Reflection. I love this one!

The l i n k is below!

If you have a book you'd like for me to read to the horses (any genre that most would enjoy), please let me know!

Day 6 of reading Reality Transurfing in 78 days to my horses! Today I went out into the pasture with them! So, all 4 are seen with me.

I recorded a new story today too but I need to edit it in a different program since it is longer. Stay tuned though. :)

The l i n k is below to today's recording.

Day 4 of Reality Transurfing in 78 days. Reading to Horses by yours truly. Ankh mostly released at the beginning when I first started. But he loves being near me when I'm doing this. Today's topic is A Star is Born!

As always, the l i n k is below. If you're enjoying it, please subscribe to my channel and give the videos a thumbs up. And share with anyone you think might be interested. :)

Day 3 of Reality Transurfing in 78 days in my Reading to Horses videos. Ankh was back this time and felt the need to rub his head on mine and then he knew exactly when I was done and told me to shut the book, LOL.

Someone suggested I read Misty of Chincoteague and I love that suggestion. If you have others, please let me know. I am going to see if my local library has the Misty book. :)

The l i n k is below. Check it out. Today's topic required a bit of prefacing but the message is still wonderful.

Day 2 of Reality Transurfing in 78 days (and Reading to Horses) is live! I'd love for you to go check it out. Today Dancer wanted to listen. ❤

Please subscribe to my YT channel and share with anyone you think might get some inspiration.

I'm planning on hitting the library and maybe reading some children's books and/or classics too. But if there's something you'd like me to read to the horses, will you let me know?

I've always loved to read out loud. My kids and even adults have enjoyed my reading to them. So, this morning I read to...Ankh.

It was quite a circus at first. My "plan" was to have them grazing in the round pen while I read but Ankh was having none of that. He loved it so much, he stood over me while I was doing it.

And Fyre? Oh that Fyre. He bit on the chair, he pawed at the chair, he bit at the camera/phone, the tripod and me. I finally shooed him away to graze with Dancer.

I read Day 1 of Reality Transurfing in 78 days, by Vadim Zeland. It inspires me, helps me find peace, and keeps me focused on my goals. Apparently it helped Ankh find peace too as he relaxed more and more through the whole reading.

It's only 3 minutes long. Go give it a watch and let me know what you think. And if there is anything you'd like me to read to the horses, let me know that too.

As an anxious woman training anxious horses, some days I just have to honor the chaos I am feeling. This morning I discovered my son’s Yorkie needs to be seen by a vet today. This is after scheduling a lameness exam with a new vet for this guy pictured for Friday morning.

Not only am I just worried sick about my animals, but finances are sticky.

And this morning my horses were cool as a cucumber. Normally they can be right on top of me, but today they gave me some space and let me come to them if I needed them.

Sometimes they mirror us and sometimes they simply are present. Today I was thankful for them being present and just letting me BE. Their peace helped calm me.

How has your anxiety been honored by your horses (or pets)?

The interest in my Solitude with Horses session is flowing in, as are bookings. This culmination of my love of helping people and my love of the magic of horses is making my heart happy.

I've always done so much work virtually so this shift to also working locally is new to me. And I'm loving it. I'm connecting with people who need this. I'm connecting with people who are helping others who might need this. My Word of the Year is Connect. Boy is it bang on.

I'm so thrilled to be able to offer this to people who have experienced trauma, are caregivers of people with special or medical needs, or those who are just overwhelmed with life.

The link to learn more about it is below. This is my beautiful herd. Each one of them is so different and each one of them can help, teach, and guide in their own ways.

Are you recovering from trauma? Are you a caregiver of a person with a disability or intense needs? Are you local to or traveling to the Leander, Cedar Park, Austin area?

Spending alone time with horses has been the only way I have healed, recuperated, and been transformed. As a caregiver of a person with autism, as a woman who endured tremendous challenge and trauma for almost 10 years, I understand the ABSOLUTE REQUIREMENT of having time and space in a healing environment to recover.

I'm now offering Solitude with Horses sessions. These include both time with me and time with the horses. Every person who has ever been to this property, met my horses, etc. has commented on the peacefulness and the magical quality it holds. Now you or someone you care about can experience it for yourself.

I also have set up a scheduling calendar so that you can do everything online. :) (This will include my regular 1-hour and half-hour sessions as well.)

If this doesn't speak to you, it would make a wonderful gift for someone you know that needs to refresh and recuperate.

The page with more information is below. I am so excited about this next step for me and for people who need to experience the magic of my horses.

Please, please, please share this if you are local so that trauma survivors, caregivers, etc. can feel peace. Thank you!

This dude’s favorite thing is to nap with me. Today I noticed a very subtle, quiet nasal breathing he was doing just on the exhale. It seemed to be a sign of relaxation. So I made the sound too.

And then he did it back to me repeatedly.

And did lots of extended stretches.

Even the most subtle things can be communication with your horse.

Listen to them, watch them. They love it when you do.

A lot of my horses have either “tolerated” halters or openly despised. I got to thinking, if my horses are good about staying “with” me, do I really need halters for anything other than tying?

So this morning I just swung a lead rope around Teddy’s neck and off we went. He definitely wanted to make several stops for grazing but was easily redirected and moved forward again.

He has been sore in his hinds but between my bodywork and a few stifle exercises, I could tell he was feeling better.

All I know is he was so forward moving, I had trouble keeping up with him. And I move at a pretty fast pace most of the time. I felt like I was dragging him before. (Teddy is fairly new to me and got really sore after we took his shoes off a month ago.)

Think I am going to order a neck rope and start working with all of them with it.

Don’t be afraid to challenge the norm my friends. 💕💕

I share a lot of stories but some stories have even more WOW factor even for me.

I have a client that asked me to check a mare and her pregnancy a month or two ago. I was shocked to see a very dark energy attached to the foal. I cleared it but truth be told I was worried about this foal. With that kind of energy, the foal could have been stillborn, injured, disabled, etc.

The foal was born this week. She is a gorgeous filly. Very healthy, very spunky and almost seems advanced for her very young age. I commented that she was truly a miracle as far as I was concerned.

And the following conversation ensued. This is one special foal y’all.

Permission given to share.

After being asked to offer a class related to horse communication and picking up more coaching clients around animal communication, I have started to work on a program I am calling “If My Horse Could Talk”.

I still have to work out the particulars, but my plan is to offer it as an ongoing membership.

It will be a mix of woo and science 😉, as it will include intuition, behavior and neuroscience.

My plan is to launch it on April 8th, the day of the Solar eclipse and new moon. So stay tuned and mark your calendar if interested as I usually offer a special deal for the first few to sign up. 🥰

I will have an email list for those who want to get the first notification of it launching but haven’t gotten it set up yet.

Every person and thing is made up of energy. We all have our own energy we can control. Horses are particularly sensitive to energy.

This morning I played around with pushing my energy out in a bubble away from me so that Fyre, who prefers to walk literally right next to me (see video in comments for evidence), would walk around me rather than right in my space.

Watch what he does. 😍

Shifting your energy can instantly change how your horse responds to you.

He even walked in a curve like the bubble. 🥰

Have you ever played with your energy and your horse like this? Whether for fun or while training or riding?

There is an old belief that the more times a horse rolls all the way over/back and forth from side to side, the more they are worth because it indicates a better body condition. They are more athletic/supple some believe.

Biomechanically it makes sense, if they are moving freely without tenseness or pain, then they are free to move easier.

So watching my 20-year old Dancer roll back and forth this morning after the first significant ride he has had in a couple of years yesterday made me pretty happy to see.

It didn’t hurt that he rolled right in the middle of the bluebonnet patch. 😍

Watching my horses roll definitely gives me insight into how they are feeling. I had a mare with DSLD and when she was struggling to get up after a roll I knew it was going to be time to let her go.

Do you watch your horses roll?

My horses love to nap with me. Sometimes even on me. 😝 Fyre had a good nap with his head on my shoulder today.

Do you spend enough time on the ground with your horses that they nap with you, or on you?

Relationship building happens not only in the saddle, but as being part of the herd on the ground. 💕💕

17/03/2024

I have had horses of all shapes and sizes. From 14-18+ hh and from sporting to draft in shape. From day old foals to 20+ years old. (In addition to boarding ponies for a short time as well.) Most of them have been rescues, but not all of them.

One of the most anxious times for a horse is feeding time. It isn’t just getting to eat, but horses are more at risk when they are eating as no one is really being a look out and everyone wants to eat at once. So they are more nervous over all. I get it.

But as a petite 5’3” woman, having a 1000+ lb animal dancing around me, getting on top of me, etc. is not an experience that makes me feel safe. Try having an 1800 lb. Shire mare literally standing behind your back pushing on you. 🫣

So I teach all my horses (thankfully I have the ability to feed all of mine individually and I know not everyone does) to relax before they get their feed. It changed the behavior of one of my horses in a BIG way to teach him to relax before getting his feed. He had been obsessed with food, hay, etc. and was aggressive with other horses in his resource guarding. And it all stopped after just 3 days of teaching him he could relax.

But they all benefit. I got a new horse in a few months ago that was underweight and very anxious at feeding time. All that is gone. He waits patiently (but still close, lol) as I dump out his feed.

It truly translates to other training with him as well as behavior in the herd.

It isn’t talked about much. In fact, I am not sure I have ever seen it talked about, but it is a key training point for me with all my horses.

Fyre, my two year old, has had intense energy from the time he hit the ground, literally.

I'm recently rereading Centered Riding by Sally Swift. One of the first things she describes is proper breathing, from the diaphragm rather than just from the lungs. It is a deeper, more thorough type of breathing and is far more relaxing to the body. It is the way I breathe typically, but I know not everyone does. But I also know that when stressed or tense, even I probably take shorter, more shallow breaths.

She suggests doing it while riding to help the rider relax and become centered, but also to allow the horse to relax. She shared a story where just simply changing her breathing allowed her to get some cooperation from an otherwise uncooperative pony.

I'm not riding Fyre yet since he is still too young, but I have started practicing deep breathing while I'm standing next to him. It is bringing his intensity down a notch. I love that. This really would work with other people, cats, dogs, birds, just about anyone really. Give it a try and let me know how it works for you.

I got 6 hours of sleep last night when my body NEEDS 8. I am just plain tired. But I went to the barn with the intention of trying to do "something" with Ankh and Dancer, as they are the ones I'm conditioning.

It was cold, it was windy, and the ground was muddy and soft after weekend rains. That meant, outside some bodywork, I really couldn't do a whole lot. But there's always SOMETHING that can be done.

I grabbed the halter and lead rope and went to put it on Ankh. He walked away. I followed him. He went into the stall. I went into the stall. He put his head over the stall wall in such a way there was no way I was getting to him.

I could have made him. But I didn't.

Because if I had, I probably would have gotten frustrated at some point. Heck, some would get frustrated at not being able to halter him.

It's just one day. It was better for both of us apparently that we just not do it today. He knew better than me. And I listened.
