I explain one of the things that happens and why when I work on horses in person and there is pain or really stuck emotional or trauma energy. Teddy was my demonstrator although Fyre was a video bomber too. 🙄😆 #teddy #energyhealing #horses #ottb #injuryrecovery #TraumaHealing

Teddy the OTTB and Cookie the tabby cat.
I love it when horses love other types of animals. So sweet!
My 2-year old gelding thought a fresh from the garden carrot was a toy. 🤣 #horses #funnyreels #funnyvideo #funnyhorse #funnypets #funnypetvideos
A lot of my horses have either “tolerated” halters or openly despised. I got to thinking, if my horses are good about staying “with” me, do I really need halters for anything other than tying?
So this morning I just swung a lead rope around Teddy’s neck and off we went. He definitely wanted to make several stops for grazing but was easily redirected and moved forward again.
He has been sore in his hinds but between my bodywork and a few stifle exercises, I could tell he was feeling better.
All I know is he was so forward moving, I had trouble keeping up with him. And I move at a pretty fast pace most of the time. I felt like I was dragging him before. (Teddy is fairly new to me and got really sore after we took his shoes off a month ago.)
Think I am going to order a neck rope and start working with all of them with it.
Don’t be afraid to challenge the norm my friends. 💕💕
Can you tell that Fyre likes to nap with me? #horses #cutehorses #palominohorse #palomino #funnymoment
Fyre, my 2-year old gelding, is lodging a complaint about the whole “personal space” concept. He does not feel it is important at all. 🤣 #horses #palomino #funnyhorse #cutenessoverload
I was sitting in the bluebonnets when Fyre realized I was there and had to come check on me. #bluebonnets #palominohorse #horses
Using your energy with horses
Every person and thing is made up of energy. We all have our own energy we can control. Horses are particularly sensitive to energy.
This morning I played around with pushing my energy out in a bubble away from me so that Fyre, who prefers to walk literally right next to me (see video in comments for evidence), would walk around me rather than right in my space.
Watch what he does. 😍
Shifting your energy can instantly change how your horse responds to you.
He even walked in a curve like the bubble. 🥰
Have you ever played with your energy and your horse like this? Whether for fun or while training or riding?
Horse rolling all the way over
There is an old belief that the more times a horse rolls all the way over/back and forth from side to side, the more they are worth because it indicates a better body condition. They are more athletic/supple some believe.
Biomechanically it makes sense, if they are moving freely without tenseness or pain, then they are free to move easier.
So watching my 20-year old Dancer roll back and forth this morning after the first significant ride he has had in a couple of years yesterday made me pretty happy to see.
It didn’t hurt that he rolled right in the middle of the bluebonnet patch. 😍
Watching my horses roll definitely gives me insight into how they are feeling. I had a mare with DSLD and when she was struggling to get up after a roll I knew it was going to be time to let her go.
Do you watch your horses roll?
