This feller was brought to our attention late June.
He is in obvious pain with the condition of his ears, and parasite infested.
He needs help!
He arrived here July 3rd via one of our followers.
Finnie spent overnight at Parade under the care of Dr. B, after the discovery I made while trying to clean him up a bit.
Maggots and maggot larvae, living, feeding and breeding in the wound of his left ear.
He needs your help, this could get co$tly.
Awaiting an update from Dr. B after she has sedated, assessed him and given primary care.
Dr. B just called back!
Finnie is negative on his combo test!
The maggots and larvae are in a pocket between the skin and cartilage of what's left of his external ear. There are none in his inner ear.
The wound has now been flushed and swabbed.
He is approximately 9 years old, is neutered, but no chip :'(
This poor feller was somebody's at some point of his life :'(
He has been given a sot of Convenia for infection, and Advantage Multi, a shot of Droncit.
He will be discharged in the morning before I start work. That was felt safer by Dr. B where I just Javexed his iso room.
He has the cone of shame on and will until his follow up appointment, which will be July 18th, his original assessment appointment.
He is not dealing well with the cone of shame, and eating is a big deal.
Well the cone of shame lost it's battle through the night (Tuesday night, July 5th), and was off this morning (July 6th). He seems to be doing much better without it mentally, but I will continue close monitoring to see if he starts digging at his wound.
Dear Finnie has been through the mill before even coming into us.
Several more trips to Dr. B for cleanings and further treatment has lead to further testing and diagnosis.
He has been diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma :'(
With that diagnosis, he has now been referred to the good hands of Dr. Draper in Bedford.
Dr. Draper is the same doctor who performed our former Cliffy aka Sir Winston's life altering surgery 3 years ago.
I will be shortly posting the official estimate, and please do not fall out of your chairs, this is a specialty surgery and will give Finnie the life he deserves now that he is off the streets and no longer struggling.
He is in otherwise excellent health so is a prime candidate for this procedure!
I have also consulted with Dr. Draper's Office Manager and she said they will accept direct donations to Finnie's new account with them!
Donations may be made using credit card by calling 1-902-835-6349, let them know for Finnie, Client ID #1062
Or, if no credit card you can also EMT to: [email protected]
Please put "For Finnie" in the comment section of the EMT.
Thank you so very much from dear Finnie
