MacGyver’s person here. The bravest, toughest little 6 pound sweet ball of fluff has gone. He was himself and did so well until the last 2 weeks, when it was clear he was no longer comfortable and out of sorts. I am so very thankful for the extra 13 months he gave me, and for the 16.8 years we had together. He put up with so many kids coming through our house, and loved me unconditionally. My world won’t be the same without him, and I’ll never nail naming a pet so well again.

A little pupdate from MacGyver's person... my little trooper is still hanging on, wagging his tail, playing in short bursts as appropriate for a 16 yo little old man. I am thankful for all this unexpected extra time and however long it lasts. Pictured here enjoying a pup cup on the hot day yesterday.

MacyGyver's person chiming in: MacGyver is 16! I never dreamed he'd make it to his birthday when he was diagnosed with renal failure in January. My little old man is a trooper. Very thankful for whatever extra time we get while he's still comfortable and himself. Happy birthday to my sweet pup. 😍

MacGyver’s person: I was actually able to reduce his medication this week because he is doing so well. He’s a mystery but he’s comfortable and himself and you won’t see me complain! Thankful. 🙏

I make sure to help my person with her yoga at night by sitting on her or her mat the whole time.

MacGyver’s person again. He continues to be stable, eating well and playing with his toy and me every day. The vet said 2 weeks to 2 months a whole 6 weeks ago now. He is still getting every other day injections that were a game changer and made him confortable and himself again. I am thankful for however long that lasts.

I keep trying to get a pic of him with his toy, but every single time I pull out my phone he turns his butt to me. 😂🙃 I’ll keep trying.

An aside, if you live in the Boston area and ever need emergency vet care, I can’t recommend Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) in Newton enough. We’ve needed them a few times in the last several years and they are so great, and the only not overpriced emergency vet I’ve ever been to. Today while prepping MacG’s injection, the needle and plunger broke off and I didn’t have another. Our vet was closed. I drove to VEG and they handed me a replacement bag of supplies and refused to charge me.

Previously, I had to go with 2 young foster placements and was dreading doing it alone. The second we arrived they brought them snacks and activities, and they sent them home with a bag of supplies to treat their stuffies. It legit felt like a fun activity for them. They have never overcharged me and are so caring. Put in your phone for those nighttime/ weekend visits! They are fantastic.

MacGyver’s person here. He’s such a trooper for a little guy. Always took bloodwork without a peep, and hung in there 6 years with Cushings with very little symptoms.

He started a palliative care treatment for his chronic renal failure 2 weeks ago and it was a game changer. He’s been comfortable since then, eating well and still loves his favorite toy. I’m thankful for the extra time as long as he remains comfortable.

MacGyver’s person here. Unfortunately MacGyver has been diagnosed with advanced kidney disease and has 2 weeks to 2 months. Trying to keep him comfortable for now. He’s been my buddy for 15.5 years and this is going to be tough. He’s brought so much joy to so many. Thankful I’m able to finally update people.

For the last 3 months my person has been trying to regain access to my page. For some reason it was revoked by Facebook whose support was not worthy of the word and continued to demand she prove business ownership of my pet page when I’m not a business. Here are the pics she originally wanted to post of us dressed as children’s book character Olivia and her brother Ian.

Today I turned 15. My person and her people sang to me and gave me extra treats. They also made me wear a hat. I preferred the treats. I still like playing chase (sometimes), but mostly being with my person. 🎉🥳
