On Wednesday, we received a huge delivery from Jennifer Chason. It was more than we expected. And then we found out that it was in memory of her boy, Tucker Rain, who went to the Rainbow🌈 Bridge last week at 13 years old.

Arnie is a handful. Cheez is a handful. Put the 2 of them together and Voilà! they are perfect.
Thank goodness they have each other! Even though Arnie and Cheez aren't siblings and are over a year apart in age, they NEED each other and are thriving together.
Most people think that cats prefer solitary living but that's just not so. Believe it or not, cats generally enjoy the company of other cats! As long as there are no real personality conflicts or past traumatic experiences, they typically enjoy having another cat around.
Watching Arnie & Cheez play and interact is entertaining and just plain FUN. If you're thinking about adopting a kitten or a cat, think about adopting two!

Our newest rescue family.
We know! The puppies are cute. They're cuddly. They still have puppy breath. But...
WE ARE IN LOVE WITH THEIR MAMA!! Sweet, affectionate, beautiful and so full of life. It's hard to imagine her life, along with her puppies, could have been at-risk.
This mama and her puppies needed us to help make sure they could all live long and healthy lives with families who will adore them. We're so thankful for the dedicate animal advocates who helped make sure they found safety with us.

We lost Phinny. After 4.5 years of loving and laughing with Phinny, she is gone. Phinny probably was never meant to be born but we know she had the happiest life with us.
Bred at a puppy mill in Missouri, she was shipped to S.C. to someone who wanted to breed her. As she grew, it was obvious she had birth defects so they wanted her euthanized. We took her instead.
Her spinal cord was outside of the vertebrae, which meant she could be paralyzed or dead instantly at any time. She had a hunchback, she was fecally incontinent, and she had other organ abnormalities. An imperfect puppy mill dog.
But... she was perfect to us and we already miss her.

These pups are some of the lucky ones. A Good Sam spotted them and stopped to help them. Their mother could not be found after repeated efforts to find her. Her puppies are safe in rescue with us.
They were starving when they were found. Even after a few days of being in rescue, you can tell from the video that they are still underweight. They are being fed several times throughout the day. They have been dewormed and received their 1st vaccines. They'll be thriving soon.
We hate to assume they were left alone by someone to fend for themselves, to live or die, but we do think that is what happened.
We wish that their mama had been found so we could make sure she is safe. Let's hope and pray she is safe with someone who will care for and love her.

Just 1 day short of a year when we rescued Leah from the hell she was living.
For 364 days, Leah fought against the effects life-long neglect had on her body. The day we rescued Leah, we promised her a life of love, kindness, and ease. We promised to be by her side to help her heal.
In the end, even though there was not enough we could do to heal her body, we know her sweet soul was healed. She knew love, happiness, and the feeling of being cherished. We know she knew because she gave all of us her whole heart.
And maybe, most important of all, she trusted us. She trusted us most to understand it was time to say we'll see you again one day in that place where you'll be running whole and well.
So just 1 day short of the most wonderful year of her life, we gave her a kiss, held her close, and then let her go.

Each of these 19 dogs had a long journey before this point. From being overbred by backyard greeders, puppies and mama abandoned in the country with no one in sight to help to being abandoned in high kill shelters with not a thought for their lives, they've come a long way. And now, with the help of our partners they'll finally find their happily-ever-afters.
