Fostering Foster Animal Rescue Fostering Foster Animal Rescue is dedicated to saving companion pets. We are located in Kershaw Count This is Foster's page, this is your page, this is OUR page.

Fostering Foster Animal Rescue was founded by Andrea Walker and a close knit group of devoted animal rescuers that were determined to make a difference in their community. Fostering Foster Animal Rescue is a volunteer driven nonprofit. We are dedicated to rescuing animals, primarily dogs, that are in southern kill shelters and that are in desperate need of help. We know that spay and neuter is one

way to reduce the number of animals on death row in shelters. We primarily collaborate with northern rescues, shelters and animal leagues to save as many lives as possible. We rely on foster homes to help us save lives and donations to keep us funded. The more foster homes and supporters that we have the more lives we can save. We believe that all dogs have tales to tell and we believe in giving them the chance to wag their tails. All dogs deserve to be loved and cherished and to enrich the lives of their humans. Through community involvement and social awareness we know that one day every dog will have a home. Our founder's very first foster dog was Foster- this rescue's mascot- and boy, oh, boy did Foster have some tales to tell, like how he stole Andrea's heart and became her forever boy. For 15 years, Foster and Andrea were side by side saving lives. In Foster's memory, Fostering Foster Animal Rescue is still saving the lives of animals in need. Let's celebrate all things dog and save the many lives that are depending on us. Here at Fostering Foster Animal Rescue we promote rescue, fostering and adoption, and celebrate all things DOG!

Another crazy Monday here and Pixie just reminded us that we're all out of her favorite chews!

On top of that, our laundry situation is getting out of hand and desperately need some detergent, either pods or liquid would be great.

If you're feeling generous and have a moment, please take a look at our Amazon Wishlist. You'll find some chews or detergent there that we could really use.

If you prefer to shop local, you can also drop off any donations at Needful Things in Dusty Bend (2401 Broad Street, Camden) or at Wateree Animal Hospital (500 York Street, Camden).

Just a friendly reminder, please avoid rawhide chews. They're not good for our dogs.

Thanks a bunch! Every little bit helps.

Summer used to be our favorite time, spent lazily together, enjoying the hot days side by side.

It's been 5.5 years since I last saw that fuzzy face, yet his impact in saving thousands of dogs continues to amaze me.

This summer has brought immense challenges in the rescue world, with countless animals needing help. Despite the difficulties, we persevere, knowing that every life we save matters.

Cherish the moments with your pets, hug your dog a little tighter, and give your cat an extra minute in your lap. Remember those who may never experience love and safety, and say a prayer for them.

🔴 It's hot out there! 🔴
Check out these tips for keeping dogs and cats safe in the heat:
🔆 Never leave your pet in a car. On a mild to hot day, temperatures in a closed car (even with the windows cracked) can exceed 120 degrees in minutes, creating a very dangerous condition for any animal. Cracking a window or parking in the shade does NOT help.
🔆 Give your pet extra water. Staying hydrated is crucial on hot days to avoid illness. Whether your pet is indoors or outdoors, be sure to fill their water bowls several times a day.
🔆 Protect your pet’s paws from hot surfaces. Walk your pet in the grass or the shade whenever possible. A quick tip: if the pavement is too hot for your bare hands or feet, it’s too hot for your pet’s paws. If you need to take them outside to do their business, try wetting the surface with a hose or water bottle to help make it a little cooler for them.
🔆 Don’t overdo outdoor exercise. Oftentimes, dogs don’t know when they need a break, so it’s important to stop frequently for shaded breaks and offer plenty of water.
🔆 Take extra care with older dogs and dogs with shorter noses. Just like older humans, older dogs can be especially susceptible to higher temperatures. And certain breeds with shorter noses (like pugs and bulldogs) are at a greater risk of heatstroke.
🔆 Apply pet-safe sunscreen to your dog. Sunburn can affect pets the same way it affects humans – pain, peeling, and skin cancer. Use a pet-safe sunscreen on unprotected areas, like the tips of the ears, the skin around the lips, and the tip of the nose. A good rule of thumb for sunscreen: If it’s safe for babies, it’s safe for your pets.
🔆 Don’t leave windows open while your pets are unattended.
🔆 Don’t rely on window screens to keep your pet from falling.
🔆 When in doubt, stay indoors. Avoid being outside for long periods of time during the hottest time of the day, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
🔆 Take walks earlier in the morning to avoid as much of the heat as you can.

Animals can get sick quickly on hot days, even if they are in the shade!

Three cheers for Penelope! She found her furever home, finally! Penelope's loving disposition is unbelievable considering what she has been through. She and her sister had been roaming the streets as strays and someone shot her sister. Dogs feel trauma, too. She has found joy again, though, and is off to live her happily ever after. A little patience and love can go a long way. Have the best life, Penelope!

Available for adoption! Jolene, Jolene! This girl with “flaming locks of auburn hair” was lost and homeless roaming the streets of Kershaw County when a kind family discovered her. With the help of Animal Control and Fostering Foster, she was successfully trapped and brought to safety. Jolene is very shy with new faces and it takes her a little time to work up the courage to get close, but you can win her over with treats! She adores being with other dogs, is wonderful with cats and kittens and loves to have a safe, comfy space to relax and play.

🗽 We are still working to raise funds to get these pups on the transport to New York. $35 secures a dog's spot in the transport van and a promise for a new home in some pretty amazing places. For security reasons, we can't share names, but wouldn't it be cool if the dog you sent to New York ended up with a super famous celeb? It happens all the time!!!

We love to see humans prioritizing the well-being of their pet! 🐶❤️

While we were parking our car at Tractor Supply, we noticed Duke and his human exiting their car. The human swiftly took Duke into the shade, away from the scorching hot asphalt where he could stand comfortably while they obviously waited for someone else to arrive.

We were so delighted to see that Duke's paws were protected from the potential burns caused by the hot pavement or asphalt. We decided to walk over to Duke and his human to give Duke a quick pet and tell his human Thank You! for taking such good care of Duke.

Available for adoption!

Ivy is a special girl at Fostering Foster who has been here for way too long. We pulled her from a shelter along with her 5 week old puppies. They were all infested with fleas, had horrifying skin issues and were extremely underweight. Ivy was heartworm positive and was treated successfully. She has had countless litters of puppies and after being a Mama to so many, we think it’s her time to spend the rest of her life as someone’s single canine companion. She will play with puppies and smaller dogs but would much rather kick back and relax unbothered. She is good with kiddos 8 years and older. She is a gentle and kind soul who deserves to have a home that will love her and treat her like a queen! She absolutely loves to go on short walks and get belly rubs. After three years at the rescue farm, we hope her perfect person will come get her! Could that be you?

Available for adoption!

Introducing Izzy! This sweet girl is the perfect pet, but her owners fell on hard times and could not afford to keep her. She was brought to Fostering Foster with heartworms and required treatment, but now she is all better! She grew up with two “fur-sisters” but we think Izzy would be much happier being your one and only. When she isn’t being a snuggly couch potato, she is basking in the sun relaxing. She has become like a family member to the staff and volunteers and each morning she is happy to greet everyone (and hopefully get a treat!). With her funny, cute, outgoing personality, she is sure to bring a smile to your face...furever!

Available for adoption! Reba is a gentle-hearted C**n Hound who got a second chance thanks to the kindness of a human. An unkind human dumped Reba and her litter of puppies on a dirt road. She was heartworm positive, covered in fleas and ticks and close to starving to death. The good samaritan got her safely to Fostering Foster where she and her babies received medical care. Reba is now completely healthy and an absolute joy to be around! She has a happy disposition, is great with other dogs, loves people, and delights in running free (in a fenced area!) or flopping out on her fluffy bed.

Meet beautiful, tall, graceful (yet goofy) Pixie! This Great Dane girl had medical issues and her family could not care for her, so she came to stay with us to heal up and wait for her forever home. She was heartworm positive, underwent treatment, and survived! When she arrived she was severely underweight due to her illness and poor diet, but she now weighs in at a healthy 103 pounds. She loves to play with her big-dog pals but can be a little too much for the small guys. She loves to play in the water, fetch her bouncy balls, and she stays right by you when on a walk.

Probably preaching to the choir but just in case someone needs to see this...

Pets, young children and the elderly should never be left in cars unattended even for a quick minute.

We understand that some people will leave their cars running with the AC blasting. While well intended, this can still lead to sad results. Theft, malfunction, and other unexpected, disasterous events happen. They just do.

Our pups are jumping into the weekend with their ears flying!

It's going to be hot though so how are we staying cool on these 🔥🔥🔥 days??

We're really just striving to keep the dogs and all of our humans comfortable and safe. That means lots of water and lots of indoor time for all of us.

Extreme heat really sucks for animals. PLEASE be sure your pet has tons of fresh water, plenty of shade and can come in during the hottest parts of the day.

If you have community cats and lots of wildlife around be sure to give leave bowls of water out for them also!
