Katy braved the wind and rain to complete a good health status check on this farm. All youngstock were blood sampled for exposure to BVD, the bulling heifers had their pelvises measured to assess suitability for breeding, and the cows were blood sampled to check their mineral status.

Is the main man of your herd performing as he should? A sub-fertile bull can be costly, leaving cows empty, a longer calving period, and a varying age of youngstock. Fertility testing can determine the bulls health and also aid in a more profitable sale if you're thinking of moving him on.

It's that time of the year when we are beginning our preparations for ROYAL CORNWALL SHOW. We'll be in our usual spot just up from the cattle ring on the 6th, 7th, and 8th of June. We'll be offering our usual selection of drinks, snacks, ice cream, and games for the youngsters.

The deadline for items on the animal and welfare grants is 1st May. There are over 130 items available, including calving gates, crushes, and feed troughs.
The grants are competitive, but providing evidence that you've discussed the benefit of the item or items that you're applying for with your vet can increase your application score. Call us during office hours on 01208 76403 should you wish for our vet team to help your application
