Marty is doing great! The vet will remove his bandage on January 11th. I hope he’s getting circulation back on that toe!!! 🤞🏻🙏🏻♥️

Mr Marty is having a well deserved nap… 😴 he’s had quite the day with a follow-up vet visit and new wrapping on his foot… and Mr Benji is also trying to get in the mood for a nap. 😅♥️

Well, we’re back at home and I’m not pleased to report that the vet had to re-bandage his foot. She said it’s not looking good. 😔 The laceration has healed but appears to have lost circulation to the toe. Most likely a blood vessel was damaged and he may end up loosing that back left digit/toe. The new bandage will need to stay on for another 2 weeks. She applied a wet to dry bandage to help with circulation. After that we will see what needs to be done. Please pray for Mr Marty and visualize his toe turning all healthy and pink. She said he needs lots of prayers. 🙏🏻 Thank you in advance for all the love and prayers, friends. ♥️

Mr Benji is wishing his best buddy the best at the vet this morning. 🥰 We’re going in to have the bandage removed from his foot and hopefully it’s healing well enough where it won’t need to be re-wrapped. 🤞🏻♥️

Mr Marty slept really good through the night. Now he’s doing a little grooming. ♥️

I just gave Mr Marty his 2nd round of medications for pain and antibiotics. He’s peacefully grinding his beak now so is Mr Benji. It’s time for beddy. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day. Thank you for all the love and well wishes you all sent for Marty. Good night. 😴♥️

Well, we’re home now. His vet is so amazing! She said he didn’t need sutures, so she just bandaged him up and unfortunately had to put a cone around his neck because he was picking on his bandage which he still tries of course even with the cone. I have a soft cone that I got for Tweety that we never used. I tried to switch it to the softer one but unfortunately Marty is able to pick his foot with that one. So I put back the one the vet put on him and will leave it on for today at least to let his foot heal. She said to keep an eye on the digit she wrapped; if it swells up I need to bring him back in. He’s able to reach his water and food no problem with this cone but mostly he’s tired now because he was given pain medication and antibiotics. And now he’s sleeping. Benji is happy to have us both home again!

Indoor camera view of Mr Benji napping and waiting for his best buddy to be brought back home. I have an indoor camera set up where I can see them when I’m not home to check up on them. While I was trying to stop Mr Marty’s bleeding foot, Mr Benji was singing up a storm trying to cheer us up. Such a sweet boy. I bet he misses his little buddy. ♥️

Mr Marty had a little accident today. He got his left foot caught as he was climbing down an appliance and while trying to get it out he cut it really bad. He didn’t even scream; such a brave little boy. He was bleeding a lot so I applied kwik-stop styptic powder on it right away and after 15 minutes it still wouldn’t stop. I called his vet and made an emergency drop off appointment to bring him in. Once I got off the phone I applied more styptic powder to stop it. I didn’t want to put him in his carrier while his foot was still bleeding. Finally I was able to stop it hoping he wouldn’t pick off the clumped up powder off his foot. I gave him some water to drink and thank goodness he had a sip. I almost called to cancel the appointment but then I looked closer and the cut looked so deep on both sides of his back left toe I decided it’s best the vet sees him to decide if he needs further treatment. I hope he will be ok guys!! I’m just waiting now for him to be seen when the vet is available. He is already in the back. I will keep you guys posted. Please pray for Mr Marty! Thank you. 🥺♥️

My little angels… they were hanging out with me after breakfast. Mr Benji was extra cuddly today; he wanted extra scritches and kisses. We both got our fill. His feathers are so soft and he smells so yummy. Mr Marty got scritches and kisses too. 😘🥰

Yesterday morning I had to get up at 6am and woke the boys up half hour later. They were bright eyed and bushy tailed and ready to start the day. We’re not morning people 😅 but my schedule will be like this some of the days going forward so we will have to adjust. I love them so much! ♥️

This video is from February 2020. I like to share it every once in a while to bring awareness. One time I was in the bathroom and I wanted a few minutes of privacy… which, by the way, is non existent when you’re owned by birds… 😅 and I left the bathroom door cracked a bit so that I can hear them until I finished. Benji, of course, knows nothing about privacy and flew in through this tiny opening which I couldn’t believe he managed to do. Birds are geniuses. Be very careful with any doors that lead outside if your birds are out of their enclosure. They can fly through any small opening. ♥️
