Now that winter has popped by - we are so glad to be partnered with for the Warming and Cooling Center, supporting local homeless individuals and their furry friends during extreme weather! 🐾 🏠❤️ Pets play a crucial role in mental health, and we're committed to creating a safe haven for all. ⁠

This is part of the Coordinated Community Extreme Weather Response through . From December 1st to March 31st, people can leave their pets overnight, access pet and food supplies, social support and connect with our Coordinated Entry team who help unhoused folks tackle some of the barriers to accessing safe housing. ⁠

Sharing. Hopefully we can help this senior find his pup a home. He’s rehoming as he is a blind and deaf senior whose heart is failing and he doesn’t think he will live beyond Christmas and wants his dog in a good home before that happens. Please share. 💔

What do you do for fun with your dog?⁣ ⁣ I would be lying if I said it hasn't been a while since I did any "for fun" training with Boone, or any of my animals really. After Charlie passed, my world flipped upside down. He was my inspiration, my motivation to do better, my heart dog. He had been with me longer than any other. It was really really hard to imagine having fun without him. It has been really hard to have fun without him. He took a piece of my soul with him when he left this world. I haven't talked about him much on my business page, because it is such a raw, personal pain, that is so very close to my heart and simply put, it is hard to talk about. ⁣ ⁣ But yesterday, I came to the realization that it's so hard because he was my one constant. He was consistently 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 through everything. I focused on Charlie to get through various trauma, through hard life decisions and changes, and when he could not be there for me anymore, I have had to find other ways to get through. It felt unfair to him, to have fun without him. And I realized yesterday, that as hard as it has been without him, he helped me grow as a person. He taught me patience and kindness, he taught me motivation and inspired me to do better and be better. He taught me how to keep moving forward, and how to smile. He was my best friend. And he gave me these wonderful gifts, and I realized that hiding from them will not change that he is gone. So instead, I will honor him by using those gifts, those ways he helped me grow as a person, and I will smile, remembering my little Heartbeat at my Feet, in all his floppy eared, hound baying, pitter pattering feet glory, and have fun with my dogs again. ⁣ ⁣ Me and Boone started working on some toy discrimination. Two balls, totally identical in size, shape and type, different colors. Distinguish the orange one from the blue one. 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐞 𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐅𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐨 - 𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐒𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡⁣ ⁣ Has anyone else noticed that people often get so hung up on trying to 𝘦𝘹𝘦𝘳𝘤𝘪𝘴𝘦 their dog and run them to wear off that energy, that they 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘨𝘦𝘵 to provide mental enrichment too? ⁣ ⁣ 🐕⁣ ⁣ Or they have a greater focus on the physical stimulation?⁣ ⁣ 🧠⁣ ⁣ Dogs 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 mental stimulation. They need to be able to have time to just be a dog. ⁣ ⁣ With a Treat Search, you can take regular dog food, or treats and toss them around a grassy area (backyard is fine, fields work great too), and release your dog to go find the goodies.⁣ ⁣ 🐾⁣ ⁣ Studies have shown that sniffing is naturally calming for dogs and actually slows their heart rate.. but not only that, it works that nose, which is making that brain work too!
