We are positive trainers, using force free science based training methods. Our trainers understand animal behavior. We can tell you WHY your dog is doing what they doing and HOW we can help change the behavior. We will teach YOU how to be your dog’s trainer. OC Paws will customize an individual training program for your pet. We begin with an in-home consultation. This will give us the opportunity to evaluate your dog and create a training program that will set your dog up for success. We know that every dog is different and learns at their own pace. We want you and your dog to succeed. A well-trained pet is a happy pet. All of our training techniques are based on principles of classical conditioning and operant conditioning, with our focus on positive reinforcement. We also will teach you and your family members how to train your dog. YOU are the most important trainer! If you can understand the basic animal behavior techniques we show you, you will be able to maintain your dog’s good behavior for years to come. And, if you have questions along the way, no problem! We offer a lifetime of training advice with any training package.

Guess what Frankie gets for Christmas?! His owners signed him up for our “Problem to PAWSitive” program. Trainer Lindsay will help coach him and his family to set everyone up for success. Frankie was adopted from OC animal care and is now with a great family who only wants the best for their new pup. 🐾🎄🐾

Louie and Lucy complete their training program. We covered a lot during their program and they have come a long way with their training and behavior. Their overall wellbeing has improved significantly. They can now enjoy walks, people coming over to their home, understand what’s expected of them, engage in enrichment and relax on car rides. I’m proud of their success 🐾

Training with Bandit and his family has been a great experience for everyone. Bandit started with our group puppy class and then moved on to private in-home lessons. We covered a lot, and he’s only 7 months old!

This is Coco walking with her awesome owner. When I met Coco, she would ignore her owner quite often, especially while out on walks. We worked on engagement and leash skills. Now walks are fun for everyone. Coco still gets to sniff and explore and her owner can gain her attention. It’s a great balance. Walk WITH your dog - think about that, it can be done using positive methods!

This is my 9 year old daughter walking our 10 month old, 65lb #GSD Nala around our cul-de-sac. Once I taught Nala basic leash skills, I showed my daughter how to walk her. To keep everyone safe I implemented these strategies: 1. We use a front clip harness and 4 foot leash 2. She brings treats and is encouraged to reward Nala 3. She is to stay far enough away from other dogs and people to maintain Nala’s attention 4. She can only walk her in our cul-de-sac where I can see her from our front door. It’s important to keep everyone in the family involved in the training and you can do this with positive methods! Adjust accordingly to keep everyone safe, especially kids.
